Dont understand what the whole issue with "bring XXX back!!!" is...did the absence of fighter&rogue&sorceror honestly stop anyone from playing D2??? I know D2 chars more distinct so ppl develop attachments..but come on! We've seen them n taken them thru 999th baal runs already!! Really want new content for a new game. This.Is.Blizzard!! surely the studio that pioneered RTS&action-RPG can impress us with more creativity&originality than just patching up D2 chars for D3...surely plenty of exciting&perfectly acceptable ideas for new classes were scraped onto the cutting-room floor jus to leave space for the old classes (lack of courage in breaking a winning formula? to please die-hards? easier to implement&balance old skills?)
That huang guy from blizz north said it..cudnt help but feel a twinge of dissapointment to see barb whirling around yet again, +another class or 2 being regurgitated for D3 apparently..sigh
Still, NOTHING they do can stop me saying: VIVA BLIZZ FOR MAKING D3!!

"He was so deadly in fact, that his enemies would go blind through over-exposure to pure awesomeness!"
The Barbarian we knew in D2 is dead (well gameplaywise), yeah the new one got some similar skills but he also seems to play entirely differently so he kind of count as a new class.
They mostly brought him back because Barbarians were a huge focus in D2 LOD and that it would make some good plot device related to the Worldstone.
We've been waiting for this game for 8 years of course there's going to be new stuff. Just because people got problems imagining what new class they could put in D3 without making a copy and paste of D2 doesn't they won't be surprised.
D3's devs dedicate their entire days at making this game. The puny imagination of the average guy giving a thought or two in a single day is just no match for them.
Exactly, this is not the same transition from D1 to D2, these characters play important roles in the lore. For
many it isn't about the gameplay for say the necro, many want the necro because of his extreme
importance and from reading the books grow an attachment to that character and would definitely like to
continue saving Sanctuary with him.
But you don't seem to be the one that really cares about the story like that. You just want more stuff to do in the Diablo Universe. I understand where you would be coming from but try to understand where other people are coming from.
Like back to D1, those characters didn't really have the backing of the D2 characters. Each D2 character practically had it's own nation of people. D1 characters represented a type of character, the caster, the warrior, the rogue. But D2 characters represent the actually people of the Diablo universe. The barb isn't just a warrior, he was one of the blood line sworn to protect the World Stone

Choosing a class is sort of like choosing your characters gender. It is an image. Not everyone wants to have a funky new image like a witch doctor or something just because it has a different skill set. I personally like to play as a knight, or paladin, it will never get old...im sure you'll get plenty of wacky new classes, thats what expansions are for, too. You have to give the meat and potatoes in the real game because you cant really sell an expansion containing "the warrior!!!!"
I played the Barbarian, and I was disappointed in seeing him return so bluntly. Regardless though, he appears to be just marvelous. I know he will have way better skills (hopefully), and the chances of me not using him are slim, at least I hope so. They appear to have revamped everything, from appearance, to abilities. Moving on, I wouldn't like to see any of the old classes return, no matter how great they are, because I can just go back and play LoD again. I trust in what Blizzard are doing, so I'm just waiting to be surprised.

Just want to point out that the barb in DIII is most certainly the same exact barb from DII.
