They'll keep injecting us with hype by releasing information on new classes, then just when the hype starts to die for good, bam they'll release the game.
I just recently purchased a PS3 which has kept me preoccupied. Although I agree with you, around the time the game was announced this place was crawling with new members and new threads being started, it was crazy. Now its starting to settle down until something else is released.

I'd Imagine it would be better for them to release the game when the Hype is at a high.
so at least a couple of weeks before the game releases we can expect a bunch of things.
Knowing Blizzard and how they release games, I wish they hadn't announced it yet. Maybe same time next year would have been better. Now we have almost 2 years to wait for it and pray for crumbs of information every 5-6 months.
+1, agreed. If there going to release news on such a hyped up game they could at least speed up their information giving...

If you get personally attacked by letters through the internet its a good thing to always have a box of tissues and a band-aid around.
I made a thread similar to this, and now I see I did not need to...
Totally agree with all of you! The site is tooooooo slow! Just look at the starcraft 2 site! It has updates more often than my visits to the toilet!
Agreed, and I drink ALOT of beer, It may well be early to mid 2010 before we see this puppy on the shelves... could be the reason for the lack of updates thus far, they possibly just might not have enough materlial to draw on at the current development stage.
Are we all supposed to "stay a while and listen" for a scant trickle of updates...
Hell no. "nobody ever listens" because we just can't wait!

So we've got over the problem of colour in D3. Great. Now let's argue about everything else not yet set in stone and help make this game simply great! Game on.
I just want the game to come out before 2012! Anyone heard about the Mayan prophecy...
didnt the mayans stop at 2012 because they saw it as a new beginning as a posed to "the end of the world"
Imagine if Diablo III was one of the things to trigger this big change. xD
anyways I'm only what, 19 years old, and I've already witnessed enough "end of the world" theories that I'm not ready to believe in any more.
I thought they did but i can't remember when or where, some time ago though. (think that SC2 was just announced)
They still have the "when its done" stance, they just planned to try and announce the game closer to when they would plan to release it. Infact i remember someone saying "much closer", although nothing is certain. So i don't think we have to wait 2 years for D3, more like a year, maybe even less then a year. (everything with a grain of sa... mean skepticism, don't want to create false hope)
On that logic SC2 should already be released since it was announced more than a year ago.
I think it would be hilarious if the game was actually near completion and they were just showing us all the information that had mocked up over a year ago, just to send us all for a loop and fuck with us. It would be an awesome marketting ploy, but I'm not sure Blizzard would be smart enough to use it. Plus they are really good and underestimating how many bugs they have in their betas. Although I do have to give it to them, for the most part (and in comparison to other gaming companies) they don't like to release buggy games (Hellgate excluded).
What does using a physics engine have to do with making a bad game?
umm because the engine affects every portion of a game
if you put a prius engine in a Lambo, you are going to notice
as for Talmai's "but I'm not sure Blizzard would be smart enough to use it."
lol
if blizzard releases diablo 3 too early it runs the risk of 2 things
1. Having a bug, blizzard loves polish, hates bugs
2. Killing WoW before everyone could buy wrath, as much as people QQ about it, business is important to blizzard, because making money == resources for new games, and don't say "People won't leave WoW for diablo 3", people left WoW for games like AoC, and that game was known to be terrible from the start

Blizzard didn't release Hellgate, if that is what you were implying.
... Blizzard which could afford to hold back a release date for even a year or more. ...
I seem to remember that announcing Diablo III pushed the Diablo games back up to #1 in North America(perhaps just USA?) and #4 in Europe. Even if Blizzard didn't have money before, they sure as hell do now.
I think the only reason the hype/hipe/hippie has died is because the people who saw the D3 banner on the blizzard site who play WoW were all leik "OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG" and how they're back to playing WoW and not being all leik "OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG" anymore.
Doesn't mean the people who actually care about Diablo 3 are any less excited now as they were when Diablo 3 was announced. And in anticipation of Blizzcon in October, I have a hard time controlling my excitement(if you know my friends I'd tell you to ask them...I made them all buy D2 and beat it and now I never let them forget D3 is on the way)

That's by far one of the worst analogies ever presented. What is that 'every portion of a game' other than the physics? A physics engine doesn't increase processing powers of a computer, it doesn't help the game process information any faster and it doesn't automatically mean great graphics. A good physics engine can't help a bad game become better. If the gameplay of a game was so mediocre and completely unfinished and riddled with bugs and glitches, do you think that a great physics engine can turn that 3.0 rating into a 9.5? 'Oh hey look the corpses get flung around if I smack them! Oh look, when they die next to a wall they slouch down next to it! Oooooh that's like the best game I've ever played despite the actual storyline is bad, the graphics are bad, the game is buggy and half the content is unfinished.'

Lol oops,
I was busy at work here when i posted last and mistyped hellgate into the blizzard set of games.
Blizzard isn't worried about money....how many accounts do that have active now? In 2007 they hit near 9.3 million...which through simple math 9.3 mil x ($45 + $15n)= Approx $500million and 150 million each month. With (n) = to the number of months played.
If blizzard was worried about their games competing with each other they wouldn't have mentioned each of the games all at the same time. They are trying to take over 3 somewhat close but different areas of the market. Diablo II still has ALOT of people playing it and they want those people paying them money, they want to keep their WOW accounts active for that 15 dollars a month with the release of this Expansion, and StarCraft is trying to get back into the original styling of Starcraft to take people from Civilization and games of that sort. All three of these games are not necessarily going to be competing but sharing the total "end game" victory for Blizzard which is why I think they will be releasing these all at approxiamtely the same time (maybe a few month window between releases).
Furthermore, with all the new knowledge about the new "point system" with the same account between all three games I'm sure they will be trying to get those to work together very rapidly.
One way to look at these games (as I have just explained) are all together. Not one of the games will dominate the market for an extended period of time (like WoW has over it's existence) but together they will make Blizzard a virtual Monopoly over this overall genre of gaming. Which in the end is what they care about, all three WILL total as the largest total sales of one company within a year.
**** All of these are my predictions, not factual. Don't take them as that.
