THATS A GODDAMNED LIE! *Hides the Diablo 2 manual.* WARCRAFT NEVER TOOK ANYTHING FROM DIABLO! DIABLO 3 TOOK EVERYTHING FROM WARCRAFT! *Makes petition.*
Seriously though, the original Blizz North team had it pretty good in D2, lets just expand on what they were doing. No dancing and crap, just realistic emotes. Sit down, shake hands, whatever.
Sure dancing cows don't fit Diablo but what's wrong with emotes. I don't really want to see dancing in Diablo but there are a lot of emotes that could work.
You have no idea how much I wanted to type "Don't be stupid." and post it with just that. But.. *Points to signature.* (Yes, I'm in an asshole mood today...)
Anyway, back on topic, yea, no dancing cows. I'd have to kill whoever is the president of Blizzard if they did that...
/sit: Your character would sit, the style depending on class and sex.
/pray: I know this will be a unpopular one as some people will say there aren't a lot of classes that pray in Diablo, but for the ones that have characters whom wish to pray I'd say why not.
/taunt: This could be a multitude of things depending on your class. Like how when you selected a character to make in D2 the necro would have a glowing hand, and the barbarian would roar.
/facepalm: Your character grabs his head and shakes it in frustration.
Also since it seems they decided for each character to have a voice actor based on the Cain/Barbarian talk, they could have a few sound ones as well:
/yes: Your character says yes and nods.
/no: Your character shakes his head disapprovingly and says no.
/follow: Your character makes the follow motion and says "Come with me." or something similar.
There is a lot that would work well in the Diablo world.
The only emote from WOW that I could stand to see in D3 is /laugh.
The rest have no place there.
There is no glory is watching the grass grow. I do not have time to flirt, dance, fart, burp, sneeze, joke, prod, other players. Not when there is so much evil to be fought.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.

Elfen, you need to spend some time smelling the roses, all work killing demons and no play makes Elfen a dull demon killing machine. But....still a demon killing machine non the less.

I stop often enough. If Atma has a good stock in I will partake of her wares and I will be sure to pay a visit to Elzix.
But many of those emotes from WOW are comical and well, Diablo is not comical. WOW, like the previous warcraft titles before it, paid homage to or parodied many things, Monty Python, Popular culture, celebrities, err making fun of itself.
This is not Diablo. Of all there series Diablo maintains an sense of seriousness. With the exception of the Cow level as that was added to quell rumours.
One of Illidan's lines is "Wings, horns, hooves...what am I saying? Is this Diablo? You do not get such a tongue and cheek reference in Diablo.
And by god it should stay that way!!!!

And yes I agree, the entire warcraft series has been comical

If you click on him enough times in WCIII he will say that.
And yes I agree, the entire warcraft series has been comical
That was my point. Most if not all of it's emotes are comical.
Like my burly Orc Warrior dancing to MC Hammer. I will die a little inside if my barb in d3 does that.
I am not against emotes. I am against ones that would dampen the serious nature of Diablo.
/laugh is fine. Id rather they just have the same 6 or 7 sounds they had in LOD plus laugh.
HHHAHAHAHA Time to die!!!!!!!!!

if you type in a command, say /laugh, your character will laugh.
if you type in /flirt they will flirt with some one
if you type in /dance they will dance
the list goes on
/prod
/burp
/fart
/taunt
/something silly that has no place in Diablo
etc.

I think blizz could pull of darker emotes that are really cool. Maybe not funny ones, but maybe they still have the same effect only still a bit serious and less playful.
Do you mean specifically Illidan? Like in campaign mode or just the Demon Hunter NE hero? I've been an orc player for about 8 years i just recently started playing night elf seriously.

I actually really want to see /facepalm
It fits a lot of situations.
But like akse said (I think it was him) cleaning your weapon and stuff would be cool. Lots of other ones that fit.
Cows coming own your ass by dancing!
