With WoW, we have different realms, with small communities of players. With D3 were not going to regulate people into those realm concepts like we did. It's going to be much more global. Within any earth region, like north america, you'll be able to play with any player there. You don't have to plan what realm they'll be on and then transfer your character or anything like that. So I think the biggest problem you see in WoW as of things like matchmaking is just player populations, because everyone is kind of segregated off onto one realm of like two or three hundred different realms for whatever region your in. So just imagine if all those players were in one place and you can match against any of them. So that's probably the biggest thing that we've learned from WoW and we've kind of already learned this lesson from WC3 which I think has a great matchmaking system. So I think WC3 is a better example of what you might expect in D3 then WoW would be.

This is old news from Rob Pardo, executive producer of D3. I think he gives a lot of insight into how D3 will function online, at least in terms of players. I was wondering maybe you guys could draw out some conclusions from what he's said so far. Obviously they'll be way more content in D3 compared to D2, right? Probably way more places to explorer, etc. I'm guessing a single room will only support one continent or even half a continent (judging by the current world map) which will probably be massive on it's own. With them only supporting a handful of players per game, I can't see why they'd make every place in D3 available in one room. This makes me wonder if they'll have the option to change and choose different rooms while in a room, just a thought.
