I just joined diablofans.com cause really I like how involved the community is and its really interesting reading the forums and I hate reading. lmao
But my question and this is another reason why I enjoyed diablo - Is - how is the mf ( Magic Find ) system going to work out in another way? Is it going to be the same? I remember mfing like 12 hours straight and it was fun cause I ROFL in excitment everytime I find something good and this is when i was really young and I still enjoy mfing cause when your account is PLAYER VS ENVIROMENT , you really dont duel much but you spend your time leveling and mfing and trading. Btw they talked about in the panel about each person having their own drop for themself and it really uses the guild war drop system , if anyone played the game. Cause I remember people getting good drops and Im like , "yo? what the hell?" and I enjoyed how the drops can be picked up and view by everyone in the area or party and I still had my days when i picked up unqiue rings and it was an soj and everyone was kicking themself why couldnt they pick it up and I enjoy that competition.
Competition for the fastest internet connection ;<
at least if a good item dropped and you where near, you had a chance of getting it, but now with the new system you'll never even know what dropps you could've possibly had, but never showed up for you.
I'm sure there will be big flaws to their current system as it is, since they cant achieve perfect balance with it.
and you could bet your ass there will be people in Diablo III frustrated at how everytime they do some boss runs with other people they always get the shit drops.
i hate the magic find system. i didn't like reducing my combat effectiveness to get items worth holding onto, i thought that's supposed to be the whole incentive of becoming more effective in combat (well, that and skills/stats) If there was a way to have good magic find without having to waste inventory space or equipment slots on it (a title or skill, maybe a mini-game that increases it) then I would be all on board. But to have to choose between increasing your chances of treasure when you kill and increasing your chances to kill, that's just taxing on what would otherwise be a completely relaxing day playing with friends.
Since they want the fastest gameplay "possible" with it being fun, how about having only a charm you get randomly from a randomized quest, that gives you like 35% MF and you can only have one and is tradeable but no other items so no one makes slow killing MF characters.
I rather like the fact that you get your own drops. I always hated when some punk would run through a game and steal the drops. Sure, you can make your own locked game. . but why the hell would I play on battlenet if I didn't want the chance to meet other people?
Even last week. i returned to diablo 2, start a new character. . and someone comes in, starts killing everything in sight with me, then grabs all the loot before I get to it once we get to a unique and leaves. Thats no damn fun. Its not competetive, its being a dick.
In a way I would like having individualized drops. That would mean you don't have to constantly be on the front lines in order to be able to pick up things. Think of the ranged classes, and how they would be at a disadvantage at getting drops. I just thank my lucky stars that they didn't make it like WOW where you have to walk up to each body and click on it (nothing wrong with that, but in d3 we'll be killing very large numbers of enemies.. imagine having to click on each one).
edit: ON the other hand, .. it does kindof suck that you can't see what's dropping for other people.. makes it a bit strange. Hope they figure out something that works well
They can keep MF in, as long as it's possible to make yourself a decent gear setup without ever MFing. That's the problem with D2 currently. If you want a melee char, you basically have to make a dedicated MFer first to gear him up, otherwise you'll see yourself getting raped in Hell. And that's awful.
People who play for PvP can make their dedicated MFers and run bosses forever for the perfect gear to perfect their stats, I'll have fun playing the game. Everyone wins. Optimal gear setups shouldn't be a concern to non PvP-ers.

Why don't they make MF mods only on certain pieces of armour?
MF on weapons means you really have to compromise if your a melee character, same on the physical armour. Why not have MF only on amulets and rings, and then the odd unique/rare has minor additions to MF.
All the uniques were way too incredibly rare in D2. I got to the beginning of hell only picking up the Unique Cap (Biggons Bonnet was it)
I hope MF works more properly than it did in D2, i swear when id have like 400+ MF id find shit. And when i have like 50 MF i start finding Aracnid and stuff...
They have not released any new information about this. The only thing we know for sure is that drop %'s go down a bit when someone joins a room you make and keeps going down a bit each time until the room is maxed out. :O.
However. It would be interesting to see how MF would work in a group. An interesting thought would be, What would happen if each person used MF gear if they keep it in diablo 3 at the same time. Would the % go up all together X how many people are in the game combined or individually because of the decreased % in each person joining the game? It might promote team MF runs instead of solo runs//bots like it was in D2. This is just a random thought i had lol, sorry if it was already posted i didnt read any posts yet, im lazy like that :cute:.

If you get personally attacked by letters through the internet its a good thing to always have a box of tissues and a band-aid around.
MF kinda went over the edge in LOD. I remember before LOD your MF character could have been any of your characters. I remember finding good rares (that were the best items) with all of my characters. The items had possibility to drop almost everywhere from act3 -act4.. (+2 amulets only from diablo).
If you wanted more rares to drop, you generally equipped barb with some MF gloves and boots. Rare rings and amulets with MF was a nice bonus too. Then there was of course tarn helm and goldwrap as the only unique items you used (maybe chance guards). Most of the rare items with MF were almost as good as any other rare item, depending how good they were Your regular boots could have been 30 run 20 hitrec 18 str 4x light res or something, and the MF boots 30 run 20 hitrec 3x cold 3x light 3x%MF So you didn't really gimp yourself by wearing some MF.
Nowadays you have to make a separate character to do MF who has gear that really stinks for PvM. If you'd go to some area in Act5 to clear it with that equipment, it would take lots of more time than with your regular gear.
So I hope they work out something else for D3, no boss runs, no gimped mf characters designed for only 1 thing.

I'm happy with the current D2 MF setup however would be happy to see a drop system where each player gets their own items and can't loot others. This makes it fair for ranged attackers who are generally away from the corpse to be able to get items too. The more MF the individual player has, the more chance to drop a good item for that player. Simple...
Its probably safe however if crappy items (white and blue heading items) should be free-for-all drops...

You will see that.. they already said it several times in the WWI.

How do you make a poll? LOL
I do dislike the fact that there will be no competition for drops, that was a big part of the fun that Diablo II offered.

TED . LEAP . Woot . MF
Yeah I remember that, same with Shenk and a few others.
I didn't like how just because someone lived closer to the server (i.e. americans) they were more likely to get the loot.
It had like nothing to do with skill.
I do like the MF system, it is a nice unique way to get gear that made diablo special. Easy and simple.

Makes me wonder about the MF in D3, like shelledfade mentioned.
