Well I'm confused by those who claim to want more realistic art (I do understand why the odd greenish blue tint is a bit concerning) but say that they want a light radius back. I guess it worked well for the first ones, but this game is a bit different in how it's done, so a light radius wouldn't work out the same way, at least I think. Seriously.
It could work out pretty nicely, in my opinion. I'd want it in dungeons and at night, obviously it's bright enough during the day.
Outdoor areas not looking "Gothic"? You need to look up the definition of the word.
The right word to describe D2 on the whole would be gritty. The indoor areas can be considered Gothic (architecture etc.).
In response to the OP: That would take way too much time and money.
Money is not a problem for blizzard.. but time they could hire more workers or even old ex members of flagship studios and Blizzard north.

Well I'd be pulled between the oddity of lit candles in forgotten structures, or a strange light seemingly emitting from the characters rump.
I guess you'd have to choose your poison.
Over confidence is the rot.
Destructible walls, Assault Beast in the background. etc etc.
Unless it was a VERY faint light radius, which kinda defeats the point.
