Holy shit, I'd love to fight to the death with a battle axe.
My dick just moved thinking about it.
There's an event held in Europe where a bunch of people pay to reenact medieval battles - you get all the armors, weapons, etc. You even sign a waiver saying any harm done to you, you understand the risks and willfully put yourself in danger.
I'd take that shit serious as hell.
Anyway, the hell does Metal have to do with Barbarians?
Didn't even exist back then.
If the lyrics fit, that's the music.
"Scandinavian fightin', I'm throwin' lightnin' when I'm rhymin' Watch the Witch Doctor yell, cast spells
I transform to a fire breathin' dragon
Rancid writing is my companion El Capitan
Spittin' an undetectable caliber Angle of vector like when ya swingin' the sword Excalibur"
Memphis Reigns & Son of Ran - Cali to Japan
As well, there are weapons classes at Martial Arts Academies.
I'm also very certain there's an ex-Special Forces military somewhere near most people.
They'd be more than happy to teach if you're serious.

Ugh... Metal goes with Barbs cuz most of it is from Norway and Sweden, both of which are northern countries where the vikings came from. Vikings are barbarians. oh and theres a specific genre called viking metal.
What is the coolest Viking name you can think of?
Bloodaxe the Grim
So just a question for all of you Barb-enthusiasts: Which is better, the way of the unarmored or armored barbarian? I ask this because I notice that Barbarians seem to have a spectrum of appearances ranging from a bearskin speedo to full-on spiked dark-lord armor.
Now the path of He-man/Conan/Beowulf type of barbarian has armor kept to the bare(pun?) minimum, where the rippling muscles all over are the emphasis and the Barb overcomes his foes with brute strength and wrestling moves. Of course sometimes they will use swords, but not as a rule. These also make more accurate berserkers, who would only wear bear-skins(at most!) and would rampage into battle.
Then theres the total opposite, the fully armored brute. Though he is covered in armor, he is distinguishable from a Paladin due to his: Spiky and Bulky armor usually decorated with skulls or teeth, Unorthodox weapon choice (A huge maul/hammer, very very spiky club, giant axe, big flail or morgenstern, or huge jagged sword), and his big nasty face covering helmet. The helmet especially is a dead givaway because it will have huge horns and cover up the entire face, except for the eyes which will be covered in shadow anyway.
Then the third Barb type is in-between, looking like a gladiator, he is given some armor. Usually he has a helmet, a gauntlet, a shoulder guard, and any variation of weapons. But most importantly he is NEVER symmetrical.
The gladiator barb of course. Too much armor will reduce the badassery of many barbarians in combat. high strength and defense but low speed and movement make for a knight, not a barbarian. And as you said, loincloth rampages are berserkers, not barbs. although barbs can be berserkers, its a fine line gentleman. Lulz
A healthy balance of ridiculous custom made (by the barb usually) armor makes for a friggin' awesome barbarian.
I say dual wielding people you have slain as clubs should be a viable weapon source, anyone else?
Any for of METAL! Especially Dethklok (from Metalocalypse), Motorhead, Beowulf Soundtrack, Finntroll, Einherjer
Meat of every friggin kind, I cant figure out tho whether its more BRUTAL to eat it hella rare or hella burnt
The fact that you have even heard of Finntroll makes you awesome. I love their stuff, though i haven't heard much of it (i have the Nattfodd cd and have heard some other songs) I think the band Bathory is worth mentioning too, during their "Viking Metal" days with songs about Odin and stuff like that. Metaloalypse is awesome, the Dethalbum is among the best metal cds of all time
I like my steak burned to a crisp in the fires of Hell!
Also, the movie "The 13th Warrior" is worth a mention

also, what is the best barbarian environment? The frozen north? Sun-baked mountains? The desert wastes? or a forest?
Absolutely the Frozen North. Nothing says brutal like spilling blood on ice and snow.

There's something inside me that feels...
