Um, can I point you to the Istari from LotR, the Druids from the Shannara series, the Necromancer from Diablo II, the wizard from Diablo I, Ormus, Drognan, Nihlithak, the Summoner, the Council Members, the Horadric Mages...?
I just hope the male casters aren't all body-builders like they are in WoW- totally unrealistic. Casters have no need for physical arms (as in weapons), so they wouldn't need that amount of freakish muscle. Sure, a good daily aerobic exercising is good for being prepared to run all over Sanctuary, but WoW was just pathetic in that sense...

Actually most of the powerful vizjerei mentioned in the books are typically older, and have little to no muscle mass to speak off. They rely on their magic to do even basic tasks(kind of like how Linux users will put Linux on to a microwave...it's not necessary...but they do it because they can)
I would rather see a crippling older gentleman or woman casting spells that utterly shatter bone than see some toned younger person...who would, in the Diablo universe, be much less skilled. From the books I would gather the most potent casters would be somewhere between 40-50 years of age, a person who has been around long enough to learn a lot of tricks(and make some up) but young enough not to go insane.

Frankly, I'd like to see the most minimal amount of old bony women in D3. Just my preference I guess.
I'll be playing female characters, since I'm female and I think it's about damn time I had a real choice in the matter.
I like melee classes, but I always feel somewhat detached and disappointed by games that make melee characters male and casters female. Nothing's wrong with magic, but sometimes a girl just wants to wield some steel and lop some heads.
We're talking realism in relation to the lore and the standard wizard- not your sex drive

1) Fix up your spelling and grammar, man- use a spell checker- it really does wonders to how people think of you
2) You've never played the original Diablo, I take it? And you've never read any fantasy books with real wizards in them? Diablo I had robes, which nearly every mage wore. I really hope they bring them back in Diablo III.
male. but if my gf wants me to make a char for her i'll make it female and play it awhile to level it and somehow find armor that covers the bare essentials (doesn't come easy in most mmos)
males for epic win. we need to fill the d3 community with more testorone and manliness. that isnt to say that we need a big sausage fest. lol if anyone has seen meet the spartan....the free - ist of nations!

A male Barb: YOU'RE QUEER. GET HIM.
A Female Barb: Take that foul beast, eat my axe.
A Female Socerer: YOU'RE QUEER. GET HER.

New Class Announced!
Now you can slay the legions of Evil as Malah!
Words I hate in Gaming Culture:
Epic
Hardcore
E-Sports
Am I the only person that just wanted to shove her down the stairs for some reason?
I usually got my kicks from mocking their voices. Especially the old shaky voices like Cain and Malah!
"You have quite a treasure there that horadric cube" lol i can say i perfecto!

I don't think casters should be ripped, I don't want to see all of them become decrepit senior citizens though.
Just to be unique.
because no one else seems to want to play as a female barb.
Yeah right, no one...
Weaseling out of things is important to learn. It's what separates us from the animals... except the weasel.
