This may already have been mentioned by Blizzard and I've just missed it, or someone else may have already posted this, but I for one would really welcome some kind of item mailbox system, whereby you can deposit items that can be picked up by another character. To prevent item theft, it could me made such that only different characters from the same account can swap items through the mailbox, and to make things easier for the people at blizzard, maybe they could rule that items in the mailbox only stay there for 24 hours, upon which time they're deleted.
however they do it, i have no desire to go back to the way i had to do things in d2and lod...hanging around in a game for 5-10 mins, then dropping all my shit and frantically signing out then back in, hoping to god i wouldt lose those my ebotz or runes.
feel free to voice opinions on this, or suggestions.
Shared stash for characters under the same username has been suggested and would work just as well for your needs. Plus it would elimnate all the 24 hour business. I certainly think a mailbox useable between different usernames would be useful though. As long as they limited the amount of outstanding items you have in the mail, to prevent it from being an infinite stash.
i like the shared stash idea, as long as it was reasonably large. it certainly would make trading easier. it's a simpler and more straightforward solution, and has my vote, should blizzard be paying any attention.
Shared stash requires you switch characters to complete the trade. If you start muling alot of things across differetn characters, you've more or less multiplied the character switching - compared to simply beaming an item directly to another char's stash.
So you won't get kicked so much.
I'm assuming for a mail system to work you need a seperate mailbox that holds the item in limbo. The need for this occurs of course when there is no room in the persons stash for an item. Then if you need a seperate box, you also need a timer or item limit on the number of items you can have in your mailbox so that people dont use mailboxes as an infinite stash as I stated earlier. So at some point you have to make sure you get on that character to receive the item. I don't see how this requires any less relogging of characters.
In the end, maybe they just need a screen you can pull up (called "Character Manager" or something) that has all your characters inventories and stashes. Then move items around as you like. Then a mail system in addition to this for giving stuff to your friends.
A giant account wide stash would be perfect. I don't know why they would want to limit your stash to so few items because that did result in muling and even further, muling accounts.

No actually, you just put your items in the shared stash (which can be accessed from your personal stash) and keep playing, then when you feel like playing any other character you just access your shared stash and withdraw whatever items you need. I don't see how that's any different from the mailing system except that you don't have to send the item to any specific character, making it way more efficient for universally useful items like gems, runes and money.
I think a shared stash system like the one in the Plugy mod (if anyone knows what that is) would be the way to go.

it will probably be the shared stash thing.
