Second of all, I think that they can do this things:
1. Put the corpse vanish as an option in the game menu.
2. Like goodguy8705 said: The corpses stay for a certain period of time and then are either sucked into the ground or ignite burning to ash or like dub Lucifer said: "wildlife should eat them after certain period of time.. etc..", so that at least its visually appealing to see them disappear, and it will be very awesome too.
They can't just let them disappear like nothing, it's too lame, it doesn't look cool, and doesn't renew anything of the game's past.
If they wanna make a game that will really 'tremble' all the fan's, they should work on that stuff harder and not just take the easy way.
And in this case, the easiest way is to make the corpses disappear.
Most of all they should make this game for good computers.
I hope its not no corpses no summoning undead.
1)They could have corpses disappear after you leave an area.
2)They could have corpses turn into sprites after awhile.
3)They could have an option in the menu to keep corpses on.
4)Corpses decompose like in warcraft 2
Ideally, the corpses would stay upon the ground, but with the amount of enemies that will be attacking the character(s) onscreen (as well as the numerous special attacks, environmental effects, etc) there is likely going to be little room for the game to keep fully 3D rendered objects (that can be interacted with) on the ground for long. Well, it likely could, but at what cost? Dramatic lag?
It's a price we will have to pay, unless something more streamlined or some other advancement is made in the near future (either for the game, servers, or internet).
However, that being said, I would like to see an option for offline play that allows the user - if they so choose - to have the corpses remain on the ground (wither for a set duration or indefinitely).
Well... with the amount of mobs that swarm the heroes, as seen in the gameplay trailer, having a lot of corpses could cause a lot of lag on both the server and the client, depending on what type of server they wish to do.
Yea a lot of lag if ur computer was from the 90s come on My comp can handle corpse after corpse after corpse, The Thousands of corpses in Medieval Total War II don't go away and I get no lag. Other games a few FPS game I play I have it so corpses never disspear its just more fun taht way
It is, actually. Bashiok says the D3 devs are looking for ways to improve the corpse mechanics because of the general outcry against disappear corpses.

D3 Pros: Outdoors environment, night time environment, female Barbarian, rune spell system, the Wizard class
D3 Cons: Fantasy architecture, fantasy armor, fanstasy weapons, no shaders.
I cant even count how many times Ive heard "Make this a game menu option." People won't stop until this surpasses Oblivion i guess. The whole goal for Blizzard is to keep requirements down while keeping the world enjoyable in gameplay and to the eye. If I had to play Oblivion on ultra low I would commit suicide.
I don't really mind the corpses disappearing really, its a pretty common sense choice made by Blizzard. The way they designed the corpses to disappear is real subtle the way they slowly fade out so its not really noticable. If corpse were made to stay there the entire ground in every dungeon would be littered with corpses of huge ghoul mobs etc.. that would just create an eye sore out of the enviroment not to mention the lag issues.

Um, do you hate the way the graphics look for D3 now?
The idea of making menu options is to have the game look like it does now (awesome) on the lower settings, while giving people with faster computers an option to put in non-pretty-graphic related stuff, like keeping bodies longer. The lack of bodies staying wouldn't make your character look worse, would it? Would it make the textures worse on the walls and floors? People want options. More options make a better game – one you can tailor to your needs (and resources).
And the Diablo devs are probably going to change how corpses work (they won't work like they did in the demo). Bashiok said they were looking into it.

What do I think about Disappearing Corpses ? I think it's Bull, all of the dead corpses could remain on the ground until you leave the area, or even better, make it an option to enable on high end PC's. They don't need to solely make Diablo 3 for Mid End - Low End PC's, they can put their focus in some High End features to. Titan Quest managed to keep hundreds of corpses on the ground in all areas with absolutely no slow downs.

And since there is a currently active discussion here, let's please move any further thoughts on the corpse issue to that thread.
Much obliged.
