Yeah, it was. They just won't be as integral with the new orb system (they'd didn't like it that potions were so expendable.) But now orbs are doing the same thing that potions did, so...
I wonder if there's mana orbs like there are health ones.

Really? Where did they say this? I've been wondering for awhile.

Potions are still in the game, you can see them being used in the gameplay if you watch, especially the Assault Beast fight.
Bashiok had this to say about potions still being in the game:

On the side of potions, they still exist, but they're likely to be on a cooldown of some type. They'll also likely restore health based on a percentage that's relative to your character. They may heal an instant amount, they may be the old over time type system. They're probably going to be filling an emergency-heal role more than anything though.
Well, as long as there's still mana regeneration for the casters, I'm okay.
Definately. I just think that it would be too much if all of a sudden you had red and blue orbs floating around places. It would take away from the game and just wouldnt feel right. Mana has always been harder to manage than life. I remember in D2, at one point when you couldn't even buy certain mana potions @ certain places, and then they updated it with following patch.. I think it was the greater mana potions, not sure, was a long time ago.

Lace me with the words of destruction and I'll explode, but supply me with the will to survive and watch the world grow.

Yeah, you're right- it would get way too crowded and the screen would probably look more like the window of a bar displaying all of its beers in neon signs than a game interface, lol.

Are you sure about that? You could see at least one potion drop from a monster or a chest in the trailer, but i don't remember seeing anyone using one.

He quoted bashiok, what other source do you want ?

Watch the Assault Beast fight, particularly the Witch Doctors health. It goes up like a potion has been used.
I was asking if he was sure that potions were used in the trailer. Bashiok's quote said nothing about that

Anyway every items in the trailer was hand placed. Everything that dropped in the trailer was meant to drop. I have sources for that too but i'm too lazy, just it the search button you will find it.
Do you consume health orbs when you click on them, or walk over them? It seems like you only need to walk over them (cause the red orb was never highlighted in the gameplay trailer when the barb picked it up). But this is kind of a problem when you're in a narrow bridge, like the beginning of the game play trailer. Cause in multi player, what stops players from consuming all the health orbs in a narrow bridge when there are other players in need of the orb even more. And this is assuming that no other character has a leap ability like Barb.

Well his health is going up and as far as I know, no one is using a healing spell, and health orbs weren't in that battle. So...
I just watched it again, the only time that happens is when he runs over a health orb.
Anyway every items in the trailer was hand placed. Everything that dropped in the trailer was meant to drop. I have sources for that too but i'm too lazy, just it the search button you will find it.
You're right, I didn't notice that orb there before.
Anyway Bashiok said potions will still be in the game so. <shrugs>
