Someone please explain to me why the PK crowd should not have their fun (killing people whether or not they want to fight) inhibited in any way at all, and anyone who thinks it should be is a whiner. Meanwhile my fun (questing and cooperating with other players) is fair game to be squelched, or I should have to jump through a plethora of hoops (make a passworded game, wait for the A hole to leave, create a PVP character)? How about one of you PK crowd answer that question? Explain it to me. I'm not saying PVP should be removed from the game just that I should be able at game creation to eliminate it.
the game is played mutually by both camps.... you guys play through your game, BUT every once in a while you might get PKd... its really very trivial and should be a non factor, but again, i guess getting Pkd once a day (probably average) is just way too annoying so we must remove all ability to do it.
i'm a fan of diablo because of soloing the game many times, picking up my own loot at my own discretion w/out ever once being tempted to playing it MP. these days i do go for MP and found the game to be fun via LAN, mostly, cuz u can have a few laughs with a bud after totally wiping the screen with demon, THE BEAUTY, FOR ME, WAS HOW DYNAMICALLTY D2 WAS BUILT, THAT EITHER MP OR SP, YOU WERE GUARANTEED TO HAVE FUN!!!

First let me thank for an good honest answer.
The problem is it doesn't always work the way you say. Many of the PK crowd don't just kill you once and then go away. They persist and insist on repeatedly killing and chasing people game to game till they go offline, many even cross characters. So has another solution just been presented? One death per day per character? I wouldn't mind that.

I agree that PK'ing isn't fun at all, but apparently alot of people seem to enjoy it. So what I don't get is why they don't just create seperate servers for people who want to PK.
By the way, how is this discussion on-topic? Someone care to explain?
The entire thread was a poorly veiled attempt at re-hashing the PK debate. So, though it is completely off-topic, it remains true to the underlying intent.

Yep. It was posted about 3 pages back, I think. Too many peeps inciting civil war over the issue. The "I wanna be able to PK at random" people Vs. the " I wanna MP online with my buddies whithout hastle" people.
You kidding me, diablo 2 as a coop game? lol I never had any dramas in passing the game on my own, just tiresome and boredom got to me after awhile as i was constantly doing the same old quests over and over again.. yawn.. so you should be saying diablo 2 was a game that made you bored after the first difficulty.. realising you had to do all the quests you just did, again.. then id agree with you.

Guess you must get bored of life really easily, considering how much repetition there is in the real world (at least, for those of us who have jobs). Diablo II had so much replayability, it was crazy! Play through the game with all seven classes on each difficulty setting... that's 21 times you can uniquely defeat the game. And that's just the tip of the iceberg if you are creative, there's a whole number of ways you can play the game just solo. Online, you could max out one of each character on ladder, then try out hardcore and do the same thing all over again. Try different builds, try different gearsets, the only limiting factor is your own imagination. Though, I suppose if you have no imagination, then you will become bored quickly, losing interest for whatever shiny object catches your eye.

I have a job.. so you can't flame me on that aspect of being bored Mr. Smashboy. Plus everyone plays a game differently fair enough you enjoyed the game and probably still do. however i preferred the original Diablo 1 game more then it's sequel, reasons as documented in my post above. Plus i should be asking you Mr.Smashboy, do you get bored of life, is that why you play games to escape reality? after all you'd probably know the ins and out to the whole diablo 2 game by now.. if you do then i applause you.

lol!
I wonder who would win a civil war between 'people that want to kill players badly' and 'people that want nothing to do with player killing'

Yes, everyone does play a game differently. But that's the difference between the murderers and carebears. The carebears don't care if you play your way or not -- but the murderers insist we play your way. Double standard.

Wow, for an old-timer you sure are out of the loop. If you actually think that there is no competative aspect in D2, you are part of a very small minority, and must not be very observant. Because if you have ever played D2 online, you would have realized how competative and crazy people would get over duels.
Exactly. I played D2 for the competitive dueling for probably 5 hours a day for a year. I remember being in an intense duel and I snapped my shift key in half from pressing it too hard.
my point here, btw, is that obviously it was not a coop game. it was ultimately a game for you to gear your char up and be the best out of the community. the story was so short, but we all played for 5+ years... why? to pvp/pk... and to farm for better gear to pvp/pk.
this thread isnt to be a flame fest... im merely pointing out the flaws in taking out a section of a game so obviously created for that very cause.
lol, i play diablo 2 since its release, at least 2 full years of play(dunno, but certainly alot) and still today i HATE pvp
when i get bored i just stop playing and wait for the next ladder reset
i never liked the ideas of ladder reset, it deterred me from playing long. I know it's fair but god, it's an awful waste of effort sitting at my laptop eating cheetos and grinding in-between dirty movie downloads

Basically there would be only PK'ers in the room because all the others left BEFORE they were PK'ed.......if the non-pk'er group was smart.

I love cooperative play.
Way to feed the flames.
Competitive play should not interfere with cooperative play. Funny how opinions differ huh?

Sorry. I had a different analogy in mind, but it would have been worse.
