IMO the funnest time for D2 was when no one sold items on ebay when if you wanted to be great you'd have to fight, trade/bargain like hell to get it, it made the game worth playing for so long. Even with w/rings and occy rings running around the game was still more fun than when some random rich kid could spend $100 on ebay and get all the items you've gotten over 1 month of farming pindleskin because of ebay. Just like when you get a new pair of shoes would you like them to come from where ever your from or your will your item have a little "Made in China" symbol representing the fact that someone from china plays the game with 1000 others in thier little office to get items to sell on ebay.
The game was a great equalizer its like no matter what you've done in your entire life, none of it matters because everyone starts on level. Back to my point I would like someone to ask a blizzard representative how their planning on fighting cheap sites and ebay from trading D3 items.
Personally, I've never bought a single items for D2: LoD. I mf'd and trade for all my items. Still, I don't see a problem with people selling items via ebay, or even personal website, just as long as these items are legit.. Its none of my business, really. We live in such a world that even if shit could sell, people would find a way to mass produce and sell it... Back on topic, however, if item(s) found to be non-legit, action should be taken.. They need to make an example of one of these theives; so that others would think twice before using exploits to generate wealth..

Lace me with the words of destruction and I'll explode, but supply me with the will to survive and watch the world grow.
I agree, as long as the items are 100% legit, we shouldn't have the right to tell anyone they can or can't sell an item THEY found on THEIR time. They could even word the auction in such a way that ebay nor blizzard can't do jack.
Blizzard won't do anything to stop people from selling their stuff on ebay, nor should they. If someone wants to pay 100$ and get all the best gear of the game in 1 minutes, then that's his problem, and if that bothers you, then YOU got a problem, mental type of problem.
Finding and trading items is half the fun, so i say too bad for anyone who gets their gear on ebay, i don't see why or how it could affect me.
I don't approve of players selling items to other players for real money, but I really don't see how Blizzard can stop it, unless they are doing something blatant like sitting in battle.net chat and advertising their items for sale.

Actually, all characters and all bnet accounts are the property of Blizzard, not you. So you actually have no right to be selling any characters or items on ebay. I believe there is also something in the player agreement (that you signed) about character ownership when you create an account.
They should do some kind of new item drops system. Something that can't be ran 1000 times a day and everytime drop a good loot. It should be more random from where you get the items.
I don't like the whole Ebay thing, but you can't fight it. It's been on for a while. It's just one of those things. But i like to just sit back and laugh at the people who spend more than 60 dollars on a game... haha!!!!!!!

"Waiter, waiter, could you come here. I think you got some WoW in my Diablo. Could you take it back to Blizzard and fix it for me please."
I personally don't really care that much. I remember back then when some dude dish out $1000(?) for a Windforce hydra bow...I mean, if you wanna waste that much money on a virtual item... go ahead...its stupid, but hey do what you want with you money. I don't think there is much that Blizzard can do.
Also, occasionally eBay deactivates virtual items. Found this slashdot article that dates back to last year. http://games.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/01/26/2026257
Guess that's not a continuous thing, since I can easily find D2 accounts for sale. =/
People who say they have every right to sell the items that spent the time to find... that's bs. Blizzard owns every account and every items that drops. When you ebay the items you are essenitally stealing from them.
It's kind of like going onto someone else's farm, spending hours finding and harversting the crops, then selling them. Sure you found the crops, but you are stealing from the farmer. Same issue in D2 item selling.
Ebay should not be allowing the sale of stolen products, and D2 items technically fall into that category. Therefor Ebay has a responsibility to stop this.

Bad anology. Blizzard was never going to "harvest" any items. They leave it to the players to do that. They sell you the game and say have fun, go "harvest" the items my game has to offer. Items have no real value to Blizzard, they could make 1,000,000 CoH, 1,000,000 Enigma anytime they want. They sell games, they dont sell items. Farmers make crops and they sell crops, see the difference?

OK fine, so let's say a farmer has no intention of selling the crops (after all, it's his property and it's nobody's business what he wants to do with the crops)... and let's say he charges people a fee to go on his farm and harvest then play with the crops, but not take them off the farm of sell them for money. The people agree to this before they enter the farm. So think of it as Blizzard selling a ticket to collect and trade their items.
Honestly, I don't know why you are trying to justify it... Blizzard could easily take the ebayers to court and win, as all this property stuff is in the user agreement which all closed bnet players sign.
And whether or not the items have real value is irrelevant, because they are still property of Blizzard.
I personally dont like to buy my way through any game, the point is to work your way to the top.
But if people want to do that, what can stop them? I could go give my friend 5 bucks and then he gives me an item. How is blizzard gonna stop them? In this day and age that friend could be 500 miles away, I paypal him instead of giving it to him face to face. eBay is just an organized way of getting this done.
Your best bet is to just make fun of people that buy eItems because they are in fact losers.

or track his/her Ip/ISP or something and ban him/her permanently, I hope.
There is no way to shut them completely it's like hackers you can never win in the long run cause in every system there is a backdoor.
Sentence of the year:
"WoW, It's like a disease"

Not to mention that hoopla someone said about tracking seller IP's from ebay and banning them from diablo, nah, won't happen; it's too much work.

About the farm, if you were harvesting Blizzard's blueberries you can't even begin to tell me you wouldn't eat a few.
