Do you guys think this skill will be useful? Was terror useful in Diablo 2? I know blizzard has a plan for this but I have a hard time seeing how it will work.
Perhaps if D3 will be REALLY difficult and death is at every corner, then yea, horrify would be good for regrouping and holding off hordes of enemies while ur ranged units pick em off. But, like i said, the game has to be hard and monsters have to be ferociously deadly.
in the gameplay demo it just made the witch doctor seem really weak that he had to make his enemies run away... and has anyone ever though about demons running away................. shouldnt they be scarred of nothing... wtf is that crap
anyways witch doctor seems pretty lame imo.... very wowish, and not really that interesting at all...

well maybe lesser demons run away from more powerful demons.

You do realize that the necromancer and barbarian have similar skills right?

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
Witch Doc is awesome in every way in my opinion and I don't want every class from D2 to be transfered to D3. If you guys wanna play the Necromancer so badly why not keep playing D2?
Edit: I think horrify will be useful when you're in a tight situation so that it can give you a lil breathing room.

Because d2 is old and we want to play with the new graphics and physics? Just my guess.
I like that horrify seems to be an area of effect spell rather than a targeted curse. It's much easier to cast spells like frost nova and howl quickly because you don't need to point out a group.
It's more of defensive skill (keep you alive) but kinda lousy skill as it is...who need to make mobs run if you can kill them in 3 sec.
and to make boss run is not likely to happen.
In the gameplay video the person playing acts like hes Roleplaying the character so he goes really slow and changes his attacks frequently (To show off the character). But if I were the Witch Doctor I would summon a ton of mongrels and disease them all and then, Activate my fireball spell and just blow the shit out of everything... I wouldnt waist my time on spells like Horrify if I were as powerful as the witch doctor in the gameplay vid. And niether will you... This was just to show off.

I would use horrify against the skeletons at the end of the gameplay video, when the boss die.
yea it can get you out of some sticky situations...imagine in hell mode tons upon tones of mobs on you, as mage type of character you cant tank them as well as warrior type. so you need buffer spell to give you room to breath.
I never used the necro skill that made enemies flee, but it looks kind of like with Diablo 3 that it might come in handy. With hopefully harder enemies and without potion spamming, it looks like you're going to have to be more creative and cooperative this time around. Horrify may come in handy during the harder levels (assuming that it will work in higher level enemies).
Well I suppose it would be useful in those situations (I.E. Skeleton mob, maggot lair - lol) But the "Violent bursts of energy" spell could also be used against the skeletons... That spell looks so kick ass.

Yeah. I can see horrify being used as an uber team skill. Horrify all the mobs, let the mage/ranged class pick em all off without even getting a scratch.

Well if there are too much too strong monsters it would be better to fear them and kill one at a time.
Some skilled players know that necro's terror is a lifesaver sometimes. I lagged once with my hc sorc and mobs started hitting me and this wise necro used terror. I bet not too many would have figured that out.
And like the blizz guy said about the health globes.. if you are low on health and mobs are between you and the healthglobe you have to use more strategies and such. Fear them and get the globe and continue fight.
gee this is making the game sound way harder than d2, i breezed through d2 in like a day. horrify doesnt seem to be very useful if it is one of many curses/spells he uses, but in hc, who knows.

It actually will serve a MUCH greater purpose than in DII. Terror was useless, Horrify has great potential for lifesaving.
If you noticed, there is a hotkey skillbar now, that allows for having several skills all ready to be cast at any moment. That way, you can leave one skill as horrify all the time, just in case you get swarmed by some giant mass of demons, that you obviously can't handle.
That would buy you just enough time to summon more creatures, and try to take out a few of the stragglers.
