What the hell are you trying to say? They are making different images for environments, and they did so in DII, wtf's your point? How would 3D-modeling take ages?
can you imagine creating different looking gargoyles, one smiling, one not, one a griffin, one a boar, one grey, one blood splattered for each and every cathedral and dungeon throught the entire game?
If this is really whats happening then:
A: Diablo 3 is gonna take a long-ass time to get here and/or;
B: It's gonna be a ridiculously short game.
Both those points are things i really don't wanna think about.

Yes. I'll inform you. Every worthwhile RPG game besides Diablo II had done it. The reason DII did not do it is because they relied on randomization to make their surroundings more interesting. DIII, on the other hand, can be more advanced. They can make thousands of statues and make them randomize between dungeons to make every dungeon so freaking different and unique you'll play it forever and never ask for DIV. Not to mention that such things as statue modeling can easily be a task given to a big modeling team.

good point, dude. That sounds fair and may RPG's have done, and thats why i said: Go Blizzard! If they could (maybe they can).
I'm just saying, if blizzard had, say, 100 ppl workin on d3? Yes. Plausible (to me)
Ha...maybe it is part of their culture to make a happier looking gargoyle?
What about it looks happy, exactly?
And, by the way, evil looking beasts with what appear to be smiles on their face and bright gleams in their eyes -- way creepy. What could be more horrifying than knowing the beast about to tear you apart will derive pleasure from it?
look at my first anwer. Building different images for every single environment would take ages, but if they can pull it off? Awesome Blizzard. Maybe you have a point, but i strongly believe blizz would've mentioned that in the trailer...
I did understand your question, it's just: In the game that might make sense that this colony of shitterlings built it that way. But that would mean blizzard would have to hire a whole lot more than fifty guys, because of how vast diablo 3 has been purported to be.
Why would that be in any way difficult to do? Most games do it now...
Considering I said most worthwhile, I don't see how do I have to list anything. Look at SC editor, even, tons of doodads. AoE had tons of different tree types... even DII had tons of objects, just not as much as other games do to constant randomization. Then there's Gothic, Daggerfall, NWN, Baldur's Gate, Arcanum.
One of the exceptions is Oblivion. It also uses a random system so the amount of parts it has is much more limited than I'd prefer.
Considerable basis for argument, EQUINOX, i stand corrected, in a way.
But, none of this justifies the fact that Blizz didn't mention it, only the fact that fifty guys are workin there asses off at it.
If what you say is true, then we're in for the Best. Game. Ever. Made. Period.
BTW, changing the artwork in every location isn't difficult. Its the detail that counts.

Why would they need to explain every single detail of an unfinished game just after it was announced? Jesus! I'd rather them spend time, I don't know... working on the game!
To me, at least compared to the alternative gargoyle my signature switches to, he looks a bit more cheery and playful. That is what I perceive, at least.
Yeah, that would be creepy having that type of monster running at you! But I think I would be more scared of a gargoyle that looked more like the second one; if the second one was smiling, then that would be creepier than the first I think.
Let me ask you something. If there was no such thing as the Easter Island statues, would you consider such a creation in a video game to be unrealistic? By themselves, they are not very impressive to look at; the lore behind them are what make them fascinating and moving. Would you insist that they make those statues look darker, more ominous, more intense?
Ah, thats what I thought you meant. But then other people's posts including Robiwan's and your response to him confused me lol.

i want a good/beliveable looking statue

She* Not dude.
Dudette. LOL.
It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
Don't be silly! Girls don't exist on the internet.
What's a "girl"?
