Cocobuffs kudos to you.
You said exactly what I feel about the game and industry of games today.
Trying to please the mess = stip away all the things that make you USE YOUR HEAD, mindless playing is wrong on so many lvls.
They try to make it faster and faster and won't stop to think what is it for exactly...I think by that they focus on multi more and single less which sadden me alot, cause I'm single type of guy.
The moon-walking thing you mentioned is definitely true. I know I'll get used to it though, no big deal.
The inventory change, and other changes like it, are just meant to improve the efficiency of the game. I know I hated shuffling stuff around mid-battle. Plus it will have other side effects such as reducing the need for muling.
What do you mean no more gore/blood? In the first battle I saw chunks of torso flying around. Overall the killing felt much more satisfying, even if it was just a video.
No offense though man, I know a lot of this is your personal opinion, but I really think you're overreacting to small details (the gummy skill icons, the animated inventory screen..).
As for Blizzard doing this to try to attract as many people as possible, of course they are! They're a company after all, they can't just serve their standing fan-base. However, I really believe that they will stay in line with our expectations of Diablo. From what I've seen, they're doing just that. Only time will tell I guess.

In a way I wish I was as young as when diablo2 came out, so that maybe just maybe I would not be noticing anything wrong with D3, or not think anything was wrong, or compare it to other games. Just go on with life until it was released. Back then I simply accepted and loved it all. I guess its true they say the older you are the harder it is to change. I wish i was young again, to have that fascination. It took so little to please me then, and now look at me.
With this sequel, I will either have to accept and suck it up, or just move on with life without videogames, (or games that pleasing to my old-ass self)
One thing I have noticed is, how with age one's perception of things changes. I'm only 25 but I don't have that same glint of excitement and fascination as I used to have. It takes so much more to stimulate me. It's like I'm a crack addict, i need something harder! This stuff is too weak
yet another complaint thread. i'll say this and be gone. methinks is one word.
and i'll add this: TRUST BLIZZARD! have they ever done you wrong yet?
Amen to that. I have loved EVERYTHING Blizzard has made. I'm sure Diablo 3 is going to be Amazing and all my spare time will be spent on it. I'm sure I'm going to miss meals and sleep for it.
Whay are there so many doubters?

Meh, I really doubt she can 'sense evil' or whatever. She was probably just excited about a shoe sale or something, coincidentally when evil was about.

I'm 37 and played the D1 DEMO when it came out before the game did. Trust me you are just a youngin' compared to some of the fan base. Which is why (1.) I don't rage at Blizzard just because "things don't look right". I realize this is just entertainment and not worth getting my "depends" in a wad over it. Discuss it like mature adults and they may actually listen. Scream and cry, well, somebody needs to have their diapers changed i think. I and I don't care how old ya are either. Whiners and complainers deserve a diaper change. Not a valid hearing.
Blizzard North was all that was trustable, these folks are as close to EA as ever.
WTF... Are you on CRACK. Blizzard has never failed to dissapoint on the release of a game. The day Blizzard turns into EA is the day I die.
If Diablo 3 were being made by EA it would have been released about 2 years ago, would have had 20 expansions by now and some of them would have only been a few new items. The game would be buggier than shit and the gameplay would have sucked.
Be thankful there are still companies out there like Blizzard you moron. You have literally no idea what you are talking about.
well Blizz has not released a game after WoW's success yet so we honestly cant trust them 100%, so we don't know what they are going to do for SC2 and D3. Business wise, would be best to try get wow gamers to both other franchises. good for sales.
Amen to that. I have loved EVERYTHING Blizzard has made. I'm sure Diablo 3 is going to be Amazing and all my spare time will be spent on it. I'm sure I'm going to miss meals and sleep for it.

I think there are so many doubters because:
a) Blizzard North doesnt exist anymore. They made Diablo what it is. a lot of us DONT have the trust in Blizzard that others do.
its been soooooo long since d2 was released. peoples expectations have had 10 years to evolve differently. by the time the game is released it will be probably 10 years since D2's release. D1 to D2 was only 4 years.
Their is no doubt that I will play D3, I will preorder it to get it on the first day possible. It looks promising. The gameplay demo was just that, a gameplay demo. I am looking forward to D3 just like I was to D2. We all are.

I think he was trying to say "they are closer to EA than ever before", not that they are CLOSE to EA. Meaning they have etched towards. He didn't specify the degree of the etching.

You struck the nail on the head. Nostalgia's not gonna trump progress. But the way some of you talk, yall sound like you want Diablo III to look like a really big expansion pack of Diablo II.
It almost seems like alot of series veterans want to just wallow in nostalgia and leave the rest of the player base playing an 8 year old game with high-def graphics.

You are right, but at the same time, I cant help but argue. Especially about the non-graphical elements that have been taken out, which i am convinced are GOOD

Progress is fine, progress is great! bringing any, and I mean ANY childish art direction into Diablo however is definitely not progress in my eyes.
Jetro your wrong, Cocbuffs meant that when he got older he started to have higher standarts and become more picky instead of blindly embracing any Blizzard game as God's Gift to Mankind...

Swing and a miss. It's almost like you don't know me at all. Oh wait.
Increase of childishness is not progress, agreed. And surely one can not argue that theey have not increased it.
Or at least one can not deny the presence of childishness. The latter games had the excuse of graphical limitations, but here?
The childishness stretches beyond graphics as well as I see it, via the simpler (less involved) inventory system and who knows what else.
The art style is colorful, vibrant, but that doesn't equate to childishness any more than gritty dirt and depressing colors equates maturity. There's more then enough blood spatters in screens to place it outside of the kidz range graphics content wise. Childishness is a good buzz word to drive a point of view through without explanation, though. "A glow on a weapon is childishness" means "I just hate the weapon glow."
Whats the mature style? Muddy palletes, everyone in the game mean-mugs for no reason? Maybe says the f-word ever so often? No flashing stuff and an inventory that takes 3 seconds longer to organize? Are those really the standards games are judged by today? Not gameplay, depth, story/plot, and all that other stuff?

other than making us wait 10 years? as a D fan who strongly dislikes SC and WoW, i've felt neglected since LoD.
I just pray the game is not all flash and has the substance that made the lineage what we love.
