Two things happened that cracked me up, and this is such a belated thing to say but was I the only one watching it that noticed people were not as excited as they were about Starcraft during the gameplay. Not even close at all, nobody said anything and then that carried on to the QNA it too few exciting cheers, you could see this all taking a toll on the director and artistic leader.
You were the only one. I found the excitement around Diablo III to be much bigger than which of StarCraft II.
Well, at least, France was really excited over this announcement, more than when StarCraft II was announced. Everybody was talking about it the next Monday at work, at school, in the bus, in the subway... everywhere. They were right to hold this event in Paris, there couldn't have been a better place to announce it.
You are kidding right, everyone screamed a little when they announced diablo 3, but when they got into the gameplay everyone began muttering.
I think its also how many people where there, and the acoustics of the room. In Korea they had a giant stadium packed with people. Here they were in a big hall with people sitting down in chairs.
Watching some of the user vids on the Diablo 3 announcement lets you see the excitement. I remember seeing everyone cheering with thier arms in the air and a few people jumped in the air.
Paris does not have the highest index of Diablo players. Seriously, stop regurgitating that incorrect fact. One person says it, then everyone believes it and tells others. Now it's impossible to get people to shut up about it.
I can assure you, Blizzard do what Vivendi tells them to do, and when to do it. The company is a little stretched isn't it? Trying to maintain and expand WoW, develop SC2 and D3 at the same time, as well as their next gen MMO which is a new franchise. Why would any company put that much pressure on themselves? SC2 and D3 = more than 20 million guaranteed sales between them, i'm sure Vivendi had nothing to say whatsoever about their concurrent development. Anyway it is all good for us, the gamers. Except we have to wait years and years for any of the games because the dev teams are so small. If Blizzard were left to their own devices, i really doubt they would have developed the core of SC2 and D3 at the same time.
One thing that D3 has done is take alot of the focus off of SC2, which i'm sure Blizzard are thankful for because that game is seriously treading water.
It would have been great to have been on that roller coaster ride! Did you hear the fans freak out when they showed diablo, then get all quite until the 3 logo showed up then they seemed to lose it!
What a well put together trailer! All those events coming together at the end, the cathedral, ending it with a fast to slow motion of Diablo only to finalize it with silence followed by the logo. Great job by Blizzard!

You are right. This game is diverting attention away, but that only means that both games have problems.

Any problems with D3 are reasonbly easy to fix though. At worst, they could release a D2 clone with modern graphics and we would all love it. SC2 is so much harder to get right.

I don't even know how to define that game, because the graphics are alright The way the carriers drones attack is old though but the Starcraft story world seems to have been trampled on, I don't see a hint of hicks in space beyond Raynors alcoholism.
It's got a truely epic legacy to hold up to, can it deliver? That's the big question.
Isn't that funny?

Are you sure?
Blizzard is owned by a French corporation, you know.
I believe you. Why would a French corporation make a major product announcement in France?
