Minnesota, New York, Massachuesetts, California, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Oklahoma, Washington, and most Canadian provinces have all passed laws prohibiting the sell of "M" or "AO" games to kids underage.
Do your research kid before talking like that to adults who have. J/K
Holy crap...this is stupid...1. it technically is illegal to selll M rated games to Minors, but most the stores dont care as long as they arent like reallllly young and 2. No one should get banned because its a game and if you cant play a game with people then you have problems....im in an end game raiding guild on WoW and i play with 14 yr olds and like 37 yr olds...and we get along fine...and im 19 but ill let you guys argue some more because this wont even stop you guys and you will probably find something to argue in this....
No law has passed prohibiting the sales of M rated games to minors. There are a few reasons for this.
The ESRB is a non-government affiliated group and the government has no right to enforce their ratings on everyone else. The only way that the government can make the sale of such titles illegal is by rating the games themselves. They can't do that though... why? First amendment right. No one has the right to tell me which art I can view and which art I can't view. This is why games are covered under the first amendment right.
AO titles fall under this category as well, but no retail chain would dare carry any AO titles for the fear of bad publicity.
in all honesty, if I had to choose whether I wanted to play the game with kids of with some elitist adults who want to kick people out based on age, I would easily choose the kids, as they would have a much more easy going, and less tight arse attitude. I mean seriously... all you wanting to kick out kids, you just sound like epic wankers and not the type of person tht i want in the community at all...
Beacause my cognitive functions are more developed
Maybe I have downs syndrome or something, but my kids are like 5000% more skilled at video games than I ever was, and they usually only take like 5 minutes to get familiar with the games controls.
I hate kids, annoying obnoxious retards who shit their pants and eat their boogers. Keep them outta my game.
Well i hate you too, if anyone is being a 'kid' as you like to put it, it's you. I mean you must be preety noobish to allow something such as a annoying kid, or a 40 year old who you though was a kid, to effect you playing the damn game.
I am 38. I played with many younger players (note I did not say kids), and for the most part I could not tell how old they were. They played with a mature attitude. I have also been in guilds for older players only (no offense to anyone, but adults do generally like to know they are around adults for some reason), and it was filled with ridiculous drama and power struggles.
In a nutshell, I just play with the people who play with maturity and show signs of fair play and the ability to share and use teamwork. I really don't care how old a player is, unless I am buying the beer.
samayel is correct. I've been playing video games for what feels like ages. I've played everything from the oldest multiplayers of yester year to the most cutting edge multiplayer games of today. In my experience, assholes know no age group. Yes, I can easily spot an immature player, though it isn't always a "kid" who is the one being immature. There are a lot of adults out there who are adults in age only. And then there are a lot of kids out there that are kids in age only. I've been friends with 14 year olds in my old clans and I've even had the strange experience of having a 16 year old be my clan leader (granted I was the leutenant and helped him a lot but it was a good learning experience for both of us). And also I've been involved with adult-only groups, though more often then not, those old fucks (as George Carlin would say) are too dry for a goofy guy like me and I end up yerning for the spontenuity and humor that the younger demographic brings to the table.
Really, you're going to run into an asshole no matter what game you play, even if it's WoW, Diablo 2, SC, CoD4, ET:QWs, Crysis, what have you. Does it get annoying to hear kids yammer on in a game's built in VOIP? Yes it gets very annoying having to hear 500 "your mom" comments and such but then you can always say "Alright boys, that's quite enough, could you cut it out?" and if not, there is almost always a miraculous "mute player" button in most games.
If you can't stand playing in a multi-cultural, multi-age, multi-ethnic game then you have no business being on the internet at all.
All I have to say is this: If I sell an M Rated game to a minor or anyone without checking their ID, I can lose my job on the spot (I work at GameStop for those interested).
EDIT: Didn't realize this thread is so deep. Hopefully my post is still relevant.
How about this, if you can buy the game you can play. As for the adults out there who want to keep the children off...you can stfu cause I'm a toys r us kid. The ESRB is just a way for righteous asses to impart their values upon us. Let the children play.
I'd like nobody under the age of 18 playing Diablo.

one a more serious note: i'd much rather play D3 with a 14 year old who has no life than a 45 year old that has no life.
