I'd like nobody under the age of 18 playing Diablo.
I like it how you say you wouldn't like anybody under the age of '18' playing Diablo. But in all honestly, I bet you 3/4 of the people on these forums under the age of 18.
Sadly there is no maturity test implemented when you make a Battlenet account to see if you are mature enough to play.
Question #1:
A player wants to trade with you, you:
A.) Kindly accept the offer and see what he or she wants, or politely decline
B.) Shout, "Take it off, bitch, I want to see those nipples"
C.) Run around them in circles saying, "RAPE! RAPE! RAPE!"
Question #2:
You're asked to open a town portal by another player, you:
A.) Open the town portal
B.) Tell the player to "suck your fat cock"
C.) Call them a "n00b" and then open the town portal

I've never seen anyone ever choose anything but A. Now, What about if you want to party with someone? Do you just say "pp" once, or do you instantly come into the game and before anyone can hit the "p" button start spamming "pppppppppppppppppppp?"

Beacause my cognitive functions are more developed and it is scientifically verifiable that children are far more influenced negatively by mature video games--which is the point of ESRB.
Also: Because I said So.
So apparently because im not 18+ i should be outside with a staff trying to casst Fireball to kill people? Or perhaps i should be terrified of the prime evils.

people just assume that the ones that ruin the game, are "kids", because realistically speaking... theyre kids. kids are stereotyped to be immature, annoying, dumb, and lacks common sense. thats what everybody else in the world view u as, its the circle of life. but ofcourse, not all of kids are like that.
but i gotta say, adults can also be retarded assholes when playing games. they think that just because they are older and can boss people around, they dont notice that theyre stooping down to their levels, the immature, annoying, dumb, no common sense level.
so if youre one of those dumbass "adults" keep acting like retarded faggots just because they are "older", shut the fuck up and look at ur fugly ass self in the mirror first before u shoo kids away who are just trying to have a good time playing a damn game.
Well, in all honestly when I used to play D2 there would always be assholes. I could be playing in a game and randomly some person would join and start PKing or asking for free items. But not once did I ever depict whether or not they were a child or an adult. They were just an "Asshole".
I've never made fun of somebody over the internet for their age, because usually you can't tell. I mean all the person is typing is text. Nobody can depict how old you are by the way you type your words. Wherever you go there will be assholes.
Retribution;277327']What makes you think you're so specially entitled to enjoying the game anymore then us? Maybe we should petition to ban adults from playing. It's about as possible and legal as banning children from playing the game. Since they cannot restrict a group of people based on Sex/Race/Age. The system where they ask for age or credit card is flawed because it is indirectly related to age., anyway of direct restriction would probably cause some problems.
Don't you hate it when an adult comes in, and just because they see some flaw in your gaming style they go "ZOMG LOOK FUCKING KID GET OFF MY GAME/INTERNET, FUCKING NOOB FUCKER GET OFF!"? It get's annoying. Although i find it easy to simply switch games to Private, adults seemingly cannot do this and as a result; incessantly make threads asking Blizzard to ban children from Battle.net.
Don't go throwing your ESRB rating of "M" at us, you know that has no real value. It's just information that parents and children and adults alike can take into consideration.
So, yay or neigh.
If you think I'm 100% serious in this thread, it's just a spoof on the floodings of threads on banning children from D3 i have been seeing.
I just threw in a moderately thought out argument that is more likely then not, full of holes that will probably get me flamed.
Skipping all the pages I just wanted to respond by saying. The rating system is not "just information". Sales of M or AO games to minors is against the law most places and can get employees in a fair amount of trouble. So yes, it does have value, it's there to stop children from playing mature games without parental consent. The term parental consent comes into play though and more often then not parents don't really care.
Don't get me wrong, I think it would be stupid to ban minors from Battle.net. It would hurt sales and hurt the community. What I do think would be useful however is a server for those that are 18+ or 16+. I cannot tell you how often D2 traffic around the time school got out or on Sat/Sun destroyed my game. Or how often I would have to deal with someone running around with a name like LOLPK entering when I just wanted to get a quick full party together and making things difficult.
While there are some very mature skilled kids out there with vastly better characters than many adults I've played with, during peak hours they are sadly the minority. Hopefully there are some systems in place that'll fix some of the problems of the old days.
On a side note it's funny when you think about the fact that when many of the young players turn 18 their opinion will completely change and they'll be yelling about kids.

For the record, if you want to be taken seriously in any sort of argument, refrain from insulting the other party as well as cursing. And yes, it was very apparent by the time I read your second paragraph that you were a teenager.
So you know, cursing up a storm doesn't get your point across any better. If anything, it alienates your reader.
Maybe I should start a class action lawsuit against blizzard and the gaming industry for not enforcing the ESRB rating strongly enough.
I'll try and set a precedent where the only way to get into the game requires either a credit card number or piece of trivial information from the late 80's early 90's.
Like: Who was president of the United States before George W Bush. Probably get rid of at least 60% of the kids playing. And don't say that's biased based on country, I know for a fact (as a non-American) that EVERYONE over the age of 15 knows who was president before dubya. And thats a tidbit from 2001. We should go further back like, who did Bill Clinton allegedly have an affair with, what did he allegedly stick ... you know.
Okay, but if they enforced getting in with a credit card. I could either just take my mother's. Or I could just take Fargo's CC Generator. LMFAO I just realized that the Mod is 16.
Maybe H isn't online, why don't you clean it up and replace words?

Yes, playing a brief game of trivia before you can play Diablo III would fix everything... Also, asking a question involving politics would get rid of 60% of the adults too.

And that would be very illegal. You and your mom could face prison time for doing something like that (if it was done with her knowledge and for the purpose of cheating an age check). I know, I know, scare tactics. But seriously, don't take something like that lightly ;).
I was just kidding in my last post. I don't think I was of legal age when I first picked up diablo 1, if I couldn't have played it I would have lost my mind and wouldn't be the Diabloite that I am today.
But seriously, unrelated, the Video game industry does not respect ESRB ratings at all. Realistically there should be some way of preventing underage children from playing certain games... other than the guy making minimum wage at Gamestop/blockbuster of course i mean.
But also M should be for like 13 and over. At 13 your capable of playing a game without being heavily affected by it. Also MOST kids under the age of 13 are FAR too annoying to play online.

That must have been whatever version is in your country, we didn't have that here in New Zealand.
Children will find a way around these checks, get a parent to buy the game, register an account for them, pay their bills, it happens. And some adults clearly need to grow up fast, and age a little more their age, but it won't happen.
And no one is going to not play the game, so that is clearly not an option.
This is the world of gamers, we do not have different ages leagues like other sports, as much as I wish that were the case, I doubt it will happen as it would be almost impossible to enforce. What restrict access to certain servers/rooms by age? How do you set age? type it in or select the year by way of a drop down menu. Ok then I pick 1984 when my real year of birth is 1985 sweet im 24 now instead of 23. Nice.
We are stuck with the younger players and the older players. Unless you go private games or TCP/IP and only play with those you want to play with.
