Diablo also takes place with little imps throwing fire and zombies walking around.. and GUNS are more far fetched? I don't think guns should be in the game either but really.. think about what you're saying. They can create an ice storm in the sky but by god damnit they can't invent a musket.
Magic and technology are big differences.
I for one will most likely quit the day guns enter Diablo.

I did think about.
The ability to cast magic, and the ability to make guns are two completely different things.
Guns evolved from rockets, which evolved from fire works.
I didn't see much fire works in Diablo.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
i dont think that selectable gun type weapons will be available, but what about a class character with a skill were he pulls out a giant elephant gun type thing and blasts away three or four shots. like someone said on this thread already that a larzuk talks about someone wanting to make special powder that will fire from long iron pipes. if that exist IDEA exist in the realm of sancuary, then your whole 13th century and gun powder not being invented is void. If Blizzard has already incorporated the idea of guns into the story, then maybe it will be there. Lets keep our heads screwed on tight and remember...its just a game. Not reality. Anything can happen
I would have to say that, if anything, magic would enhance the development of technology.
Highly likely, and in all probablibity, would happen.
But I still fail to see how that would make a gun.
fuse lights a charge, which causes an explosion (and with primative guns, lots and lots of smoke), the explosion forces a projectile out a long steel tube.
Guns don't appear in medieval times, or at least if they do, it's right at the end, right before the Reneissance kicks in with people going nutzo to create weirdo and fantasical stuff, Leonardo's flying machine and submarine, etc.
Diablo is right in the heart of what would be considered Medieval, or Middle Age. being that it is set in the equivlent of the 13th century Europe, there is still at least another 300 years before the arrival of anything resembling the gun as a weapon of war.

Fulminating potion?
Exploding potion?
But yeah, the day Diablo introduces guns,
Well, they could possibly introduce a sort of musket that fires once every 10 minutes, because that is about how long it would take to pack one of those things.
Highly likely, and in all probablibity, would happen.

I don't see why you're trying to associate every event from the real time with the unreal, the relationship between the two is the general theme, not little things like the creation of guns and steel that effected the future in big ways. Though steel does exist in the diablo world...
Would you prefer I call you a derogitory term for wanting guns in D3, and scream at the top of my lungs why they are silly, or would you prefer I try come up with a reasonable explanation for as to why there should not be guns in D3. Your call dude.

A glass vial that cotains a volitile liquid is a far cry from fireworks.
Molotov Cocktail is very similar to the throwing potions in Diablo, but is nothing like a Sky Rocket, a fore runner for the Gun.

I'd still be pissed the fuck off though.
The potions are just chemical reactions. Not really the same as guns at all.

In essence a gun is a chemical reaction. It just requires an mechanical device to initiate it, and with a device that points the reaction in one direction.

What Elfen says is all true, but you have to remember this isn't earth. This is a fantasy world with sorcery and magic which means technically the fire arm could be invented at any time. In Sanctuary the evolution may go in reverse. The invention of the gun leads into the invention of the firecracker. Blizzard could just drop a nuke on us at end game. It wouldn't matter how pissed we got.. they can still do it.

Maybe that will be the way they implement guns.
Instead of gunpowder, they have vials filled with liquid put into the chamber of the rifle. A hammer directly hits the vial, causing it to explode, throwing the steel ball down the barrel.
Same basic principle, just different physical state.
But I don't think guns will be implemented. I mean come on!! A lightning bolt is WAAAAY more damaging than a friggin bullet.

LOL so gay. what the hell is everyones problem with the damn sholder pads?

They're kind of big, besides that I have no clue.
Grammatical errors aside, I would have to say that, if anything, magic would enhance the development of technology.
The way they are presenting the evolution to firearms is different from that though, it's a direct brainstorm, not a phase.
that would kinda make me not want to buy it

Well yes but you know what I mean.
It's a lot less technologically advanced to toss a explosive potion than to create advanced weaponry like a gun.
