How can you say a game has been in development for 5 years, and then link to an article that says it's been 3? Saying Fuck 30 times apparently doesn't add 2 years to the development cycle, despite your best efforts.
That's 3 years of reworking after blizz north was disbanded in 2005. But blizz north started working on it in 2003, or earlier. Do the math.
The lead dev. (I believe that was his position) has stated in an interview the game has been in development for 4-5 (let's just say 4.5 and be done with it) years, while Blizz North was around and working on the project, and then eventually it was brought to Irvine and 'rebooted' with a different development team.
Blizzard has confirmed 3+ years in development in Diablo 3, and it's possible there are as many as eight. Keep up on your info.
I'll keep up on my FACTS and you keep up on your SPECULATION. Maybe you should learn the difference first.

Perhaps you should not focus on math so much and maybe learn a thing or two about the subject matter you're discussing. What exactly do you think is the largest part of a game? The design? maybe the story writing? No, sorry my friend, the 4gb of data on your dvd is full of CONTENT.
Yes Blizzard North was working on Diablo 3, but what exactly do you believe was kept? 4 year old graphics and art? I can't say for sure, but I doubt it. So assuming that they kept story and design (if anything) then they've been working on it for 3 years, which if is indeed the case they won't be releasing it this year in my opinion.

It doesn't matter anyway, they won't be releasing it this year.
What are you talking about??? They said it themselves, they're pretty much complete with the game mechanics and physics. They're focusing on adding mostly content. And that doesn't take 2 years to complete. And alot of things were kept after blizz north got disbanded: Story, and design. So the other shit to make doesn't take 5 years, like you think it should. Either this year or early 09. And support your so called FACTS....

No, what they said is that the classes are mostly playable at the office, and that Act 1 is nearly complete. Here's where your speculation begins, Do you know how many acts are in the game? Do you know their targeted goals for content creation? Their targeted size of their final product? The infrastructure for Battle.Net 2.0? No you don't.
You can't even assume when the game is going to come out because you don't even know 10% of the information your trying to base a decision on.

Nice FACTS, did Blizzard say that?
True, I am assuming. I'll admit that, but care to make a bet? You missed the part where I started to say:
So assuming that they kept story and design (if anything) then they've been working on it for 3 years.
Pretty much everything after that was meant to be an assumption, but I can see how it didn't look that way. My bad.

No one knows the actual release date, very true. But I'm just estimating, from known sources, when it potentially could be. And all these speculations are supported by sources. However, your information has no support at all, but saying''no one knows'', which is not credible at all. If you didnt used logic, then your estimated release date is highly not credible. Because you're basically saying that it takes 5 years to add content....

No it's a little different then saying, "Based off of my knowledge (which at this point is nothing at all) this is the release date time frame!"
Like I said, you are making a decision based off of a handful of interviews and nothing else. You don't have ANY of the information needed to even be close to accurately making an assumption. Does that mean you're wrong? Not necessarily. Everyone gets lucky once and awhile.
Am I saying it takes 5 years to make a game engine from scratch, program, design, hire, and develop a game with the scale of Diablo 3? YES I AM.
But having spent the last 6 years in the game development industry would have nothing to do with my claim, I would just call it common sense.
I think a release date from a well reped company, with personal verification that it is confirmed by Vivendi, is fair grounds for assuming this release date is legit. Yes it could change, yes there's work to be done.
No, we have NO IDEA how much work is actually finished, it's Blizzard, they can tell us anything and for all we know they might be taking these extra months leading up to the holiday just to polish the game off.
I think you're seriously out of place Shaafen, attacking various member's with little to no grounds to stand on for your own arguement outside speculation. Calm down a bit yeah?

First of I'm not making a desicion, I dont know where you got that from. And first of the design was already kept after blizz north left, we assumed like you said. Scratch??? they just said, at most what is left to add is content, I think they're kinda behind scratch work right now, far behind. Hire who?? they already have a team of 50 ppl. And programing doesn't take 5 years my friend. As based on what blizzard said they've completed, it's about a year or year and a half left to complete, that is common sense.

Look all I'm saying is that until you hear it from Blizzard then it's speculation. Getting a reply from the customer service of a retail chain is not a verification of release date. What are they going to tell you? "Na, we made that up just to have something there. Hey we can take pre-orders don't ya know?"
My agrument doesn't need tons of ground to stand on, because I'm not speculating a release date like you are and trying to tout it as fact. I'm simply saying that no one, outside of Blizzard, knows when the game is going to ship.
You can believe whatever you want, and you MAY be right. You shouldn't count a release date on a third party website as gospel though.

They have a team of 50 people? So you have access to Blizzard employee records?
I'm not going to argue every word you type, no matter how asinine it is, but there is one thing I'd like to point out.

That seems to fall outside your projected release window doesn't it? Your own speculation has contradicted yourself.
I'm basing my assumptions on what blizzard said and presented so far. You, on the other hand, have no sources to support your assumption that it will be released in two more years. And plus, I wasn't even talking about the website's release date. I was talking about the vids blizz did, the info in wikipedia, and hell even the that gameplay site has some truth to it.

1. I never said it's going to be 2 more years, in fact I said you could be right.
2. I never said you got info off a website, I said Aeromir got his information from an email off a retail website.
3. You stated information saying the game has been in development for 5 years, and then posted a link to wikipedia that clearly stated 3, I trust wikipedia over you.
