Teleport being the gayest spell ever, especially when playing against a Sorc in PvP...Teleport Blizzard, Teleport any other gay spell, and they'd just keep doing that, and it isn't fun.
Don't let the broken bridge in the gameplay vid distract us. A Blizzard head has already said it was a concept - an idea of what is possible. And that bridge will not actually be in the game. Somebody could find the quote. In one of those recent interviews.
----------------
In our TCP/IP PvP games at my place we have one rule: No teleport. It totally unbalances the fight. Blizzard/Frozen Orb mixed with teleport for Sorceresses.
(Actually we have other rules about TP and running back to mummy for more health/mana but that's off-topic :D)
----------------
But I love teleport. I get to all the golden chests before everyone else. The look on their faces when they fight their way into the room only to discover the chest is open and empty and I'm back in town selling the loot to Fara is priceless.
----------------
I'll miss teleport a lot in D3 but I suppose it is for the better. Not sure how it could be nerfed so that I'd be bothering to put skill points into it. If it was nothing more than a slightly quicker "one shot" means of jumping out of battle than a TP then pffffrrrt!

So we've got over the problem of colour in D3. Great. Now let's argue about everything else not yet set in stone and help make this game simply great! Game on.
You can always make a tp for party members,
And it would be cool if a runeword came back with teleport on it, like Enigma.
Yeah this was so cool back in diablo2! Everyone could just zip around the screen with their Dupped Rune words! It made duels much more dynamic, and the game much more interesting IMO.
Teleport made the game far more enjoyable, because I really didn't have to waste any time fighting mobs or doing anything really except Teleport around the map, find the boss and take all the loot!
I think teleport needs to be in D3 because without it the gameplay would be slow and boring, and I wouldn't be able to zip around the screen and kill people without the fear of dying. I think teleport was the best part of D2 and if blizzard doesn't bring this feature back to at least one of the classes in D3 I will refuse to buy it. Without teleport it can't be called diablo IMO.
There are many, many ways to include teleportation that will allow it to be balanced. Teleportation definitely needs to be included in D3, its essential to any magician class in the Diablo series. The developers said themselves that they want the player to feel like they are playing a truly powerful, truly awesome character.
That said, they probably will include teleportation in D3.

Teleporting, at the very least, needs to be rebalanced (if not removed entirely). Instant cast plus zero cooldown made the spell ridiculously unfair.
First of all, teleport wasn't an instant cast, it was affected by cast rate breakpoints. (Which in turn means it was NOT zero cooldown)
I don't know what you were thinking when you posted this, or if you were even thinking at all. But adding a cast time to teleport would mean getting hit constantly by enemies, preventing the cast, effectively making the spell useless.

It may still be fun, but it will be World of Diablo.

Ways to nerf the teleport spell could be as simple as implimenting one or more of the below:
-Have a set casting time, IE: character has an animation for 2-3 seconds before the casting takes place
-Increase the mana cost per teleport (perhaps this could be reduced spending more skill pts in it)
-Disable the ability to teleport through walls
-Have a cooldown before you can cast it again (perhaps this could be reduced spending more skill pts in it)
-Have a % chance of it to fail and not be successful (perhaps this could be reduced spending more skill pts in it)
-Make it not so accurate, where it teleports you X metres from where your cursor is (perhaps this inaccuracy could be reduced spending more skill pts in it)
Just add a 10sec cooldown is fine - most likely since looking at bottom left corner of gameplay vid can see CD icons for skills already. Teleport should be used as an escape mechanism, NOT to rush to Baal 10 times faster than any other class...

Dunno if this's a clue that tele's in D3:
"If the player, for example, meets up with a horde of enemies blocking him from getting at a health orb, he must say to himself "I'll use my Teleport to get to the other side." Or "I'll use my ability to paralyze the monsters, then run over and get my health back."

"He was so deadly in fact, that his enemies would go blind through over-exposure to pure awesomeness!"
I havent read ne of the comments thus far but i just want to say that i really hope they include teleport and keep it basicaly the same as it was in d2. Teleport in PVP is a must, it keeps pvping fast paced and skillfull. tele vs tele duels are far more intense and skillfull than just smiter vs smiter duels where they basically just walk upto each other and whoever has the better gear n dr% n life etc wins. Just my view.
Also i'll love to see enigma or another item that gives +1 to teleport for all classes but make it hard to get. If nobody in d2 duped im sure enigma would have been insanely hard to get. So hopefully they can prevent duping in D3.
I don't know what you were thinking when you posted this, or if you were even thinking at all. But adding a cast time to teleport would mean getting hit constantly by enemies, preventing the cast, effectively making the spell useless.
Hm. Harsh words. Changing the teleport would only mean you would have to play the game differently; it wouldn't become *worthless*. You seem a bit too attached to your precious teleport.
-Have a set casting time, IE: character has an animation for 2-3 seconds before the casting takes place

Again, adding a casting time would render the spell useless if in any form of combat, since taken damage causes the hit recovery animation instead. If you would have read my post which is DIRECTLY above yours, you would know this.

Yes.Of course. PvP always shud've been about how good ur tele skill is, guessing tele timing&opp tele location, forcing ppl to resort to name-locking. Core of diablo really...= ='
