I don't understand the hate for the weapons glowing... although I hope there are some sweet dripping blood/shadowey glows as well instead of just shiney sparkling/firey ones.

"If we're actually making the game worse with no other reason than to be different from WoW, then it's a bad choice." - Jay Wilson (D3 lead designer)
Glowing weps are horrible. Before you know it everyone has weapons with some element which turns out to be all the same end game and you dont get to see the actual weapon model/look. Id rather know and see the new D3 Blood Letter then just another Glowing Lightsaber of butter cutting. Glows may be "uber" when only a few people have them but in the end everyone will and it will be another BUtthurt Jedi Fuck fest.
Also when everyone ends up useing one element over the others. Hopefully they will make the color pink> dominate all to make this obvious
I don't really like the glow. I think they should concentrate on the actual art and design of the weapon, not focus on enticement of the WoW kiddies to make their way to Diablo III. Then again, with the colors of the game that already seems like an inevitability.
I really like glowing weapons but I hope that you have to work your butt off to get them. I dislike it when every newbie is running around with a glowing enchanted weapon.
Glows will only be enabled if the item is rare/elite. So of course we would want the enchant glow to show the hard work we did in order to find and/or enchant the weapon.

Most should probably remember D1 where weap effects are few to none. But remember when you first got the Griswold's Edge? The little flame effect kicked ass right? THAT maked GE epic.
If most items glowed WOW style, it would probably suck.
Gameplay is far more important than graphics, but the glowing on the weps are so intense that they go beyond graphics and actually affect the gameply because they are distracting.
While I like it, I think the glow will be over done. I'd rather see the artists get creative rather than using glow and particle effects for everthing.
Imagine you have a sword with an ice/freezing enchant. Rather than the glow, what if the blade looked like it was made of ice, maybe with a slight haze around it as it freezes the moisture in the air.
Or a fire enchant, rather than fire particles, make the blade look like molton steel held into shape by magic alone.
Lightning could have arcs of electricity running along the blade, occasionally jumping to your armor, other weapons, enemy weapons/armor etc.
It just feels like the glow is there because they don't want to take the time to come up with better special effects.
+1 completely agree
Yeah, well, D2 wasn't in 3d, so maybe D3 should be a 2d game with no changes whatsoever too.

yes drunk but not sloppy. i think that's what some people want, sloppy drunk weapons.

i dont think thats the reason. I think its because people dont want cartoony looking WoW shet in thier beloved D3.
Im definetly down to make it smaller and more dirty looking
