I am looking for a class/spec that is capable of efficiently solo farm ~60-75GR to level up new gems. Right in the season I have both well equipped wizzard and dh and we farm 9x rifts in our group. But upgrading gems there from ~50-60 gets too long and/or is simply too expensive.
I have no problem quickly farming GR up to ~60 with my wizzard (blade or flashfire spec), but then I've reached the defense capabilities of the TR set, and would have to trade much damage for more toughness (pe Unity for CoE) that would lower the farming speed drastically. Or go to twister/arcane orbit build which also is not very fun or quick for farming runs, and therefore not very efficient.
I realize crusader or barb would both be a good choice, but I have zero strength gear in my stash (and not really enough space there to gather it).
So that means I am looking for a wiz/dh/monk/wd spec that is good at farming at those levels - preferably a wiz/dh spec I am not yet aware of as I would not have to level and equip another class, but I don't think there is one.
You dismiss crusader (because you don't have a strength class). You dismiss wizard (because it's not fun, you say). That leaves only three classes. The problem is that all three of those take the short stick - monk is probably the weakest class this season, closely followed by WD. The DH might be the strongest of the three, but very closely followed by WD in terms of top clears. And due to the fact that you already have a wizard, I'd rather recommend WD (if you don't want to go for wizard or crusader) as you will at least be able to share some gear from your wiz (and find wiz upgrades on your WD).
Every class can do 70+, but at 75+ you need really good gear and some experience with a certain class, and if it's not your main class chances are it's not going to be more "fun" and definitely not as efficient as with your wizard.
Thanks for your reply, but I'm not sure if you understood my problem.
I can easily do 77 with my wizzard - I never solo pushed -, and I would love to do quick clears with it. But I am not aware of a spec that can repeatedly do that. Arcane Orbit build clearly lacks the mobility of Aether walker and I am not aware of how to integrate it into the build without sacrificing much damage or toughness. And solo twister build is fine concerning mobility, but to make stacking worthwhile you need the right density, and some rift bosses really make you want to jump into your screen and strangle them yourself when they try everything to avoid your ET stack,
When I need 10 minutes or more per rift it's not efficient farming, then it's better to do quick 8x 4player runs.
So you say WD might be a possible alternative. Which build would you propose for it?
Or - and this is also a valid answer - what I want is not possible unless switching to crusader/barb and gearing them accordingly.

The only class that can do GR77s faster (consistently) than wizard is crusader.
Let's take a look at the leaderboards, where you would be placed with a GR77 in 10 minutes (I'm looking at the US seasonal rankings right now, from Diabloprogress since the official website doesn't work for me at the moment):
Monk: #81
DH: #183
Barb: #185
WD: #414
Wizard: #1330 (so yeah, not even on the leaderboards anymore)
Crusader: #1637
The reason why you *can* run GR77s on your wizard in 10 minutes is because its ceiling is much higher. Switching to any other class but Crusader would mean that your intended GR77 "speed runs" would become solo leaderboard pushes, even top 100 for monk. You will be a bit more consistent on a crusader since it's less subject to RG RNG and can, if well-geared, farm up to GR80 relatively fast (not "relative"). However, past GR70+ a group will always be significantly faster. My personal favorite are GR79 runs on my wizard in a group - they're super fast and everyone gets their gems up to GR70. From there, you can just level them up using the GR90+ runs you mentioned.
If you were to switch to any other class but Crusader you will not be faster, but in fact much slower in leveling up gems. You already have the second fastest class for solo rifting - by a margin, so switching to "any other non-strength class" will slow you down.
I do understand your problem, but I think you did not understand the implications of your choice. I hope I clarified that bit
Thank you for clearing that up, I indeed only was aware of the wiz and crusader leaderboards where I could not even look up such a "low" grift, so I assumed for other classes too that a level 75 grift is a cakewalk with enough paragon and decent gear, and you just needed the right farming spec.
That a (fast) 77 clear would give you a place in the leaderboards - even in the top 100 - for some classes comes as a surprise to me, as I am used to being pulled through those rifts by my friends.

So just a foolish thought...
For DH, Fire UE can farm 60-65 in under 5 minutes consistently.
Otherwise LoN Bombardment Crusader is stupid OP. Currently P700 in S5 myself and consistently farming G68 in 5-6 minutes.
