Differentiate what? I agreed that they will improve the graphics. Thank you for common sense material. When a game is 1-2 years away it won't look the same as it was shown for the first time. See sc1 d1 sc2 wow...
Don't worry Dvirus55, according to an interview released today, Jay Wilson (Lead Designer for D3) explains how these people are viewed as nothing more than 'loud voices' who are creating the 'squeaky wheel syndrome' lol.
He explains - "Diablo is a game you play for, hopefully, hundreds of hours, and one of the rewards is a variety of different-looking environments." People looking back on old Diablo, he said, may have a selective memory. "People remember the Act I dungeons... but they kind of conveniently forget the green fields of Act I, and all of Act II... and it's palaces, its bright deserts."
It's actually a pretty good read and discusses nothing but the art direction of the game.
The cave minerals are fucking green. That's their color. The gameplay video bricks are NOT green they are originally gray-white. That's the problem...
You just lost so many IQ points for saying that.
Yeah, I wondered about it and Blizz confirmed it: The game will be getting darker as you play through and the petition will be thrown on to the level of a bad fart joke, even for the people who signed it.
They will improve the graphics. What a revelation.

What does it have to do with the caves picture you posted?
The caves: green colored mineral with neutral (white) lighting.
DIII: gray-colored surface lit by nonexistent green lighting...
What does that have to do with what Blizzard said, or improving graphics, or whatever? Are you even seeing what you quoting? Or just replying randomly?
And what does the petition have to do with this?

What does that have to do with that quote? In any case, they way you are talking, DIII should stay exactly the way it is, which it definitely would not...
Equinox is right about the dungeon not being green naturally, if it was green why would the lighting turn it grayish? Wouldn't orange lighting + green stone make brownish stone? Where as orange lighting + grayish stone makes orangish gray stone.
omg i think the way it looks is perfecto. Outside is supposed to be green with trees. Well thats the way i look at it.
In the gameplay footage where it shows all about the barb, i think the area he starts as is perfect. Why the hell would u want it darker so ur face is 2cm away from the computer screen tryna tell where ur goin or wut ur lookin at. D1 was horrible for that, u couldnt see crap.! Thats my opinion,
One thing I don't get is what's the problem with sticking a green-fire magical chandelier on top... I wouldn't mind lol.
That's the only problem I have with the green lighting, it makes no sense.
At least in WoW, they had a reason for it, most dungeons with it had glowing green panels on the wall, or glowing green liquid etc etc.
I don't get it in D3.

I like the outdoors for the most part. Looks perfectly fine to me.
And I don't want a darkness everywhere or light radius, too much I want to see in the game.
I just don't really like the green lighting, everything else I can deal with.
wat green lighting? it wud appreciated if u can provide a pic, te hehehe. im such a bitch. LOL u dont have 2 if u dont want too. U talkin about outside or inside.
EDITT::: NVMMMM I SEE THE GREEN LIGHTNING, DIDNT EVEN REALIZE THE FIRST CCOMMENT HAD PICS .LOL
Take out a flashlight or if you have a huge candle that will do as well. Now get the flashlight, or flame close to any surface you want, any color doesn't matter. It will turn white, and the color will fade.
Moving on:
For those that didn't read the interview I posted go do it. It's good and it will stop all your hesitations to try and tell Blizzard how to make their own games...
Heres the kicker for you close-minded whiners that think goth = pitch black dark... we haven't seen much of the game...
from the interview, today;
"The preliminary art we've seen so far, Wilson said, is from early on in the game. "We want to generate the feeling of everything getting worse... it's part of our narrative. It makes the more gloomy part of the game a place where the stakes get higher."

Hmm i think they should change the green a bit. looks kinda like teal. Yea for a dungeon i dont know why they chose green. Blue would be more acceptable i think.. :|
What does it have to do with the caves picture you posted?
Part of your arugment has been based on what you consider, or call "realism". I gave you a real life green cave. Fin.
The caves: green colored mineral with neutral (white) lighting.
DIII: gray-colored surface lit by nonexistent green lighting...
Quit making up terms. That cave isn't "neutral" lighting. It has green in it and that is reflected and makes the lighting green. Perhaps there is some gaseous corruption in the dungeon causing eerie green light or a "Mineral" (hehe) in the stone of the dungeon causing green light to reflect around. But the over all point is that what you are complaining about is not enough to distract most normal human beings from the game hence it does not need changing. The lighting works from a design standpoint.
What does that have to do with what Blizzard said, or improving graphics, or whatever? Are you even seeing what you quoting? Or just replying randomly?
I was replying to what Exghoul posted above about the game getting darker as they go.
What does that have to do with that quote? In any case, they way you are talking, DIII should stay exactly the way it is, which it definitely would not...
No. I'm saying that the Art Direction should remain the same, not the pre-alpha graphics.
link above has 2 pics. one old version and other a newer version.
i hate both.
becaause the top one looks to blue. why is it fucking blue? not like the chandelliers in the cielings are using a wierd candle that emmits blue light. wtf.
and the bottom one. why it so greyish. like it has no contrast what so ever.
my way for colors. make it like diabo 2 and 1.
green grass
grey walls( doungeon in diablo 1. grey bricks or concrete or whatever)
brown chests its chest made of wood not some wierd ass color there
I think most people agree pretty much, we want things to be colored the way they should for the most part.
Instead of toning SOME things down, like the bright blue spell or the green bricks, they toned everything down, making some things crappy looking, like the tables, etc etc.
I should have known that instead of trying what I said, or even actually thinking about what I said you were going to something dumb like this. Those people are not close to the fire at all. Why? It's a bon fire lol. You didn;t even try what I said or even think about it. Take a candle, lighter, flashlight, whatever. Hold it close, it drowns the color.
see...
There is white in there at the closest point. I was trying to show a real world example of how this works and why the areas by the candle and your player dim out of green as your player moves or when candles or other sources of light are present. I just thought you might learn something, but as it shows you are so close minded and already know before reading a post that you will be arguing any point, no matter how illiogical or idiotic you may come across. grats, you prevailed once again!
Either way, lets get back to the petition-
Dont you guys think taht after reading the interview from today, among other things that you prematurely jumped the gun screaming for changes! I know.. i know.. it made you look kind of silly and as showing you put your foot in your mouths in terms of only seeing the early content of the game...

Let's face it, these people know games... more so than the fans who can even claim to be their biggest fans.

Inside, you don't see all the green in the dungeon part? for example:
http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/_images/screenshots/ss30.jpg
See all the green in that picture?
I guess I'm imagining this orange glow from the fire then?

And I can't model Diablo on Doomsday engine.

The cave's inherent color is green. The crypt's inherent color is grey. But it was lit by a green light, so it looks green.
Green light appears to come from nowhere in the cave I posted. Hows that for realism?
Use your imagination. Hehe

"We’re not just making a ‘Diablo II’ with updated 3D graphics.”
The candles in the gameplay don't give off much of a orange glow, candles are a lot more clean burning and a smaller flame.
We're not talking about a clean burning candle or a flashlight.
Okay let's not use a bonfire or a candle, let's use a torch since that's what we're talking about.
Torches:

Some candles:

I don't think the art direction should be changed nor did I sign the petition, but you can't tell me all torches and candles burn white light.
