"You know if you look at Diablo I and II, they're very uhm. I mean..they obviously have the, the gothic look to it. but you know we weren't, really weren't...uh...they weren't very colorful games...and... and one of the challenges we wanted to take with d3 was; could we add color but still maintain that gothic dark feel? You cuz I...I think uhhh, we wanna take more of a dark as an emotion rather than actual color or art choice and I think that's something that uhm you know took a long time to get to the point where we're at now. Like, we've probly gone through at least three different pretty major art direction shifts until we got to the point we were at on stage cuz, I think it's really difficult to be able to pull that off, but...we're really happy with the look of the game now."
reality check people, making yet another thread about this just makes you look like whining babies. 41471894 threads from a total of 100-200 people shouldn't dictate what millions will see in the end. Get over it and go outside until you've seen more than a staged demo meant to show off the game mechanics.
I HATE the way it currently is, it should be changed for sure. I've been a fan of the series since i was 10 years old. Bought my first copy if Diablo 1 back then. I have to say the current graphics is top colourful and reminds me of warcraft 3. The alternative screenshots on the first page of this post are a great quick fix.
Yes colour invokes emotions and feelings. But what sort of emotions and feelings are we looking for? certainly not the happy jolly once. The plain shade/contrast of colours in the former games is what gave them their unique feel and sense. Don't screw it up by making it like warcraft 3, this is NOT warcraft.
Why do I have the feeling when they show lut gholem or some desert area that people will photoshop it into black and white as well.

Is it possible to apply that black and white filter into the 20 minute gameplay video? I have no doubt when people see it like that it looks completely dull.

‘I'M NOT LEAVING UNTIL WE ALL HAVE AIDS!’—The importance of calling them ‘mercenaries.’
In my opinion, the type of colors from the demo video, are not appropriate for a game like Diablo. They should be changed for realistic type and not cartoons.

You have got to understand that your comparision of 100-200 people not dictating the best way a game looks to the majority can easily be equated to the 200-300 people making the game, right?
The purpose of this thread is to get one large representation of what diablofans.com users like. We have a large fan base and it appears to grow each day. We're even listed on diablo3.com.
As I stated in the OP, if this thread takes off, Blizzard may make note of it. I feel as though I can assure you they will take the results (if they see them) and use them to make an informed decision (taking into account the number of voters vs the number of potential consumers).
I fully support changing style to fit the examples in the first post. Diablo is dark, gothic, and "scary". Not colorful, not vibrant, pretty much the opposite.

60 votes isn't booming with solid evidence to support that ALL of diablofans is involved. For every thread you make about how terrible the art is, theres 50 people who don't look at the population numbers looking at the forums and the website on a whole and use LOGIC. Also this is the what? Fourth 'Official' thread which throws out all your credibility to trying to make a professional stand against the company and people who have been working on the game for around 5 years.
They know that your still going to beg the cashier to take your precious money for the game on release and the current art style appeals to a wider audience not just the emo's, they'll leave the art where it is because it's what the main demographic of gaming enjoys right now. Complain all your want but it's not changing much at all.
I'm also pretty sure blizzard didn't realise these forums would be like they are now after they announced it or they probably wouldn't have linked to the site from d3.com look at how 99% of the people complaining about the art are acting, telling blizzard to get fucked becuase of the art? Geeze.
Also take note, that people look at this thread and facepalm over the fact it's "another" one of those threads, I'm surprised the amount of people coming in here to say they like it now is as high as it is. Something that appeals to you, will grab your attention and it'll only grab a tiny portion of people who it's not related to ie : people who enjoy the current art style barely come in here yet the votes remain almost very similar.
Multiple from which are the same person signing up multiple times, they arn't 100% secure. I could easily start one saying the barbarian should have grey hair and crank up a huge number of petitions between a handful of people. Try again.
You'll be the one putting your money where your mouth is when you hand over money for the game you spent years hating on. Feel that burn? You know it's comming.

First of all, please calm down. Now, please, slow down. I said I like the graphics. This post is an opportunity for individuals to share how they feel. I, also, explicitly stated that this was only a representation of those whom view and vote in this particular thread. I made sure to say that it did not represent the thoughts or views of www.diablofans.comperiod.
I made no professional claim against Blizzard in a midst of thousands of posts. I support them and there was only one other thread with a poll, which was closed. I liked the thoughts of others in that thread and wanted to keep it going, the absence of a poll caused more reading than should be had, so I reinstated an open poll for an overall view of individual thoughts.
The thing is, I'm not angry. I'm quite happy if they kept the art OR changed it to what you would propose. You have not abused them, but many have if you've been reading the forums which sometimes I regret but I'm just saying is it really the end of diablo if they've taken the art somewhere where you might not find it conventional? Even when they supply countless arguments augmenting the graphical change?
The only real test for this is seeing if people are going to hand over money, which I'm 100% people will if the graphics don't change. That's my issue and people are going about kicking up the dust in the wrong way.
Xziwut is exactly who I'm talking about when your credibility slips away everytime one of those people post in your threads.
Now I get threats from someone, nice work please don't e-thug me in your precious thread doppleganger. Your going to put somewhere where I don't want to feel it? Are you actually saying your going to rape me? Either way all I'm seeing is threats, this is once again a prime example enforcing what I was previously saying. Not to mention the person who throws threats at me seems to enjoy making up words for the hell of it. What the hell is burninating? Everything out burns me? Seriously please enlighten me, you make no sense.
Truth be said, blizzard always ruled pre-renderized grafics, but dynamic 3d ones...
i guess that wow/wc players will enjoy this game more than guys that disliked these games.
whole team programers have in mind orcs, witchdoctor is very close to get a spell "shapechange into

if the entery world say that game is fine, then programers can relax.

The first thing that come to my mind, is that the 'darkness' in the cave should remain as it is (maybe some darker, but not necessarily as dark as you made it), but the darkness outside should be exactly like you did in the picture. It's more Diablo-like.
EDIT: After watching picture one even better, I came to the conclusion that that one is right aswell. Therefore I am going to vote for 'The graphics should be changed in a manner congruent with the pictures from the original post'.
Very good job!
I didn't make the pictures. I got the impression you may have thought I did...I'm going to edit my OP to state that I didn't just to avoid any potential confusion.
