"When Deckard Cain returns to the ruins of Tristram's Cathedral seeking clues to new stirrings of evil, a comet from the heavens strikes the very ground where Diablo once entered the world. The comet carries a dark omen in its fiery being and it calls the heroes of Sanctuary to defend the mortal world against the rising powers of the Burning Hells – and even the failing luminaries of the High Heavens itself."
The 20 past years maybe hell waited for Tyreal to come back.
This is on the front page of Diablo3.com and says that the Comet from the HEAVENS strikes the ground where Diablo once entered the world.
And Failing luminaries of the High Heavens itself? Tyreal? Or another fallen angel perhaps?
The comet carries a dark omen in its fiery being, fiery BEING? Something is in that bad boy. I dont know what do you all think, t his has been posted before but I havent seen the portion from the front page yet.
I think you're reading a bit much into it. "Fiery Being" is probably descriptive writing and should be taken lightly in a full literal sense. It does not necessarily mean that something was in the falling comet (ala Superman).
What I get from the words are what we honestly already know. Sanctuary was protected by the Worldstone. Tyrael destroyed the Worldstone (Corrupted by Baal) thus removing it's protective barrier. The comet falls as a warning sign and symbolizes things to come. The war between Heaven and Hell is about to be fought fully upon the face of Sanctuary.
I personally think the "Failing Luminaries" aspect means that the angels (Beings of Light, hence Luminaries) who have been continuing to try and hold Sanctuary within their own protective domain are failing because something stronger than we have dealt with before is about to be unleashed.
This leads to the Hydra pics. I have two theories on who is in the pic.
1) Belial which is sometimes represented as a serpentine being could fit into the "Hydra" persona. He is also a Crown Prince of Hell (Lesser evil) who at last knowledge controlled half of hell due to the civil war in hell versus Azmodan. I think in the past 20 years he finally won the war in hell and absorbed the powers of the Prime Evils (or at least grew in power from slaying Azmodan) so that now he can unleash his wrath upon Sanctuary. Some theories show Belial as the father of Diablo if you take it that Big D is the representation of Lucifer.
2) Diablo himself has been reborn, but during his rebirth he absorbed Mephisto and Baal as well. This fusion of the Prime Evils has thus created a being of such immense power that even the Princes of Hell will not stand against him and thus with the full backing of Hell's minions the very foundations of Heaven begin to tremble as he makes his way to Sanctuary to destroy the mortal world on his way to destroy the High Heavens themselves.
I really want to see Tyrael as a fallen angel as I think it makes perfect sense from him destroying the corrupted Worldstone, but I find it hard to fathom Blizzard letting Heaven's Champion become such an amazing villian.
"It seem we are cursed. even in victory, we face defeat. although the heroes destroyed baal, the angel tyreal has delivered grave news. An object of great power that he calls the worldstone was held in secret at the mountain's summit, and it had been corrupted by Baal. He believes the only option open to him is to destroy it. I know too little of this Worldstone and what powers it may hold to guess what might come of this, but I fear our actions may scar the world in ways we cannot know. I pray tyreal is making the right choice." - Deckard Caine, 10th day of Navan, 1266 Anna Kehjirtani. (page 30 of Caine's Diary)
I believe Tyreal intentionally destroyed the Worldstone (the barrier dividing hell and heaven and the only wall of defense protecting the world of Sanctuary).
It can't be a good decision to destroy it. I prefer a corrupt worldstone than none what so ever.
Hm yeah I think we got the main, opening segment of the storyline figured out except for the details.
Tyrael should remain good, why does he have to become a villain just cause he destroyed the worldstone? There was no other choice, he had to. So it doesn't make him bad or corrupt.
Well, he doesn't have to be corrupted and I agree that Sanctuary needs a good guy. Although, I personally like the idea that the corruption that Baal instilled within the Worldstone was unleashed and went into Tyrael when he shattered it. I'd like to think that Inarius built a fail safe of sorts within his creation as a curse so to speak on whoever destroyed it because of his fears for Lilith's ambitions.
