In Diablo 2 and LoD, this was the most worthless piece of mother$#^#%*! piece of $#!& the game ever had. Who agrees that this attribute should be able to 'atleast' bask in glory in Diablo 3?
IMO, yes, I would rather prefer the caster classes having Energy as a primary attribute they need, instead of having unbelievable health and speed
the only reason why this wasnt a big deal for most people in d2 was because they designed their armor around giving them energy and regen. for example sacrifice 1 thing to get lots of energy on ur armor and pump up health or str, ect. or dont get energy and get better stats like leach and resistance ect. it all depends on what your going for. it was just that most people prefered energy. especially sorcs.
From what I remember, if you made a PK char that wasn't an ES bmana sorc and put points into energy you were a newb. Basically base str if possible or a few points depending on gear setup, dex if going maxblock or for reqs, and the rest pump vita. My memory of D2 is fuzzy, but that's what I remember.
If they do something with energy so that it does more than just +mana than it might have some worth.

making stats more in depth will definitely make them more widely used.
I think the energy should play a more important role than past games. You only got energy if you couldn't get the required gear to substitute for it. The role of energy was downgraded, and the role of vita was upgraded. It was very unbalanced, possibly make energy effect: +mana, +mana regen, and make the bonus to mana you get from items based on your current energy level, and maybe add a bonus to skills that use mana.
Diablo 3 needs to be different from Diablo 2 in term of attributes and skill systems but no too different. To put the emphasis on energy for the mage class they could make it more efficient than putting points in vit and str while also bringing back weapons that requires it such as staff and orbs.
I don't wan them to screw with the health or energy system (although they already have a bit and probably will more so). I like the fact that most characters don't need energy, some do, and sometimes you try and have mana steal as to avoid wasting points. Its another obstacle that i much enjoy.
i like what they did with it in WoW (there its called intellect). The more stats you have in it, the higher your spell critical strike is. And there's no +mana items there, only +intellect (where 1 intellect gives 10 mana) which improves the stats usefullness.

Absolutely agreed. The only time a warrior does not go for STR, or a mage not go for Energy, is if they are using something funky.
What they need to do is make it useless for a mage to invest into STR or VIT too much and make ENG more powerful for mage classes.
Energy was a stat which I never invested in with melee classes and I find fury a good change for the barbarian, but energy or mana should still be used for casters.

argeed Energy should still be a stat like all the other games. But don't make the same mistake diablo 2 did.
