Only for multiplayer... try single player, that's a whole other story.
He obviously hadn't played post v1.10 .. And, like you said-- Especially not in Single-player. V1.10+ Single-player was incredibly hard, if you didn't hack or grind for equipment like people do in multiplayer.
that was normal mode I assume, and normal mode in d2 was...well... "fall under my might weaklings!" nightmare made you think twice, hell made sure you were dead. It didn't look that different from your average diablo normal mode to me.
Edite: I mainly played d2 single player, so hell WAS hard
I'm just going to explain some things, some based on previous games, just speculation.
1. If the people making the video died, they would look like fools
i) At least two of them needed to get to the last boss to show his two 'fatalities'
ii) At least two of the fighters needed to get to the last boss, because if the previous 2 died, it would be a boring, or hard fight.
2. The zombie wall you saw might have had affected damage by +to magic gear, or even a stat that improves damage from magic attacks.
i) there was no difference between damage in level 4 and 5, so maybe there is a decrease in mana cost?
3. Just watch the first minute of video gameplay. The barbarian has no armor, what looks like average weapons, and to kill ghouls, it took much longer than every other battle. Just count the number of ghouls, and compare it to the number of mobs in the other battles, it's slightly more, but they seem to be the lowest difficulty of monsters, like zombies in Diablo II and skeletons in Diablo 1. It's not like you couldn't 1 shot kill some of the monsters in the previous games at level 1 with base gear.
So in the end it basically means that it will be expected to be around the same difficulty as Diablo II, which was just perfect for me, i dunno if you guys want a completely different game, i just want a revamped game (animations, graphics, physics), not a different feel, you know?
actually, i have played post 1.10., and on single player too. I find that if you know the right builds and know how to play, even single player hell mode is fairly easy. I feel that if you can take down a boss without dying a single time, it is too easy.
I guess it's just because i have played diablo a long time and have a lot of experience with it.
Maybe blizzard should add an option to choose the difficulty level even in normal mode, for example before you create a game on battlenet you can make the monsters a little bit harder. In diablo 2, the difficulty increased with more players, but there should be another customizable option for difficulty, besides normal/nightmare/hell.
I think the bosses in diablo 3 will be hard enough though. In the video, the people had rigged stats and gear and 2of them still died from the boss. A barbarian got his head ripped off!
this poll describes nothing. im sure 99% of people here have played d2 and much less of the population has played d2 so saying aka no d2 means nothing.
I personally saw the monsters to be EXTREMELY wimpy in the videos. I understand they want to achieve a god of war like action style, where monsters die fast and fly across the screen, but they need to understand that fans love to have a sense of progression where monsters are frikkin tough, but if you get good enough you can kill them faster.
actually, to put perspective on it, I think that they had it rigged in the video to where it was like a level 20 Barb fighting lvl 1 monsters at most points in the game just because they're showing off what the game looks like. I mean, how stupid would it look if the barb ended up getting wasted first thing? Or for him to sit there for long periods of time trying to kill all the monsters like you probably will in the actual game.
I think you have nothing to worry about. It was just a teaser video showing you the basic concept and certainly not the finished combat.
Did anyone else catch what they were saying about adding to the difficulty more than in D1 or D2? Do they mean that there will be more difficulties? i dont know but i thought playing through the game 3 times was enough.
Yea I'm pretty sure I saw somewhere that they'll follow the same formula as D2, easy at first and just mass slaughter, and it gets pretty damn hard pretty quickly later in the game. As its been said before, the only reason monsters were getting 1-shot and everything in the video was because that was the beginning area and the characters had high levels (as seen from having like all the skills) and gear that you wouldn't get till much later in the game.
Wow, this is a stupid poll. In God of War, it took multiple attacks to kill nearly every enemy. In Diablo II, nearly every enemy was easily killed in one hit, if not two or three.
That's what I was going to say. No matter what difficulty I was playing, my necro could clear an entire room of monsters in 1-2 corpse explosions.

I think he only kills one of them, but he bites him in half... wait, does this mean that bosses will have 1 hit kills with certain moces?
