my finger tips would be whittled to the bones if i attempted to list my greatest fear which is all of the small things get fucked up. the things that make diablo diablo. the things tah tmake the atmosphere so unique, mysterious, and dark...
My greatest fear is that I will grow bored of it rather faster than I hope. That happens with any game I'm really looking forward to, and track its progress vigorously.
As for the diablo looking like wow fear : I trust Jay Wilson.
He got his own BIG project, I doubt he would like it to look exactly like another one. As a game designer, he will probably want to include lots of ideas coming from him.
Though he did say that could cause a problem if a game designer only listen to himself, I still trust him to take everything with consideration.
When they make a new thread it gets locked because it's a duplicated of a thread from 10 years ago.. or w/e
If your gonna lock duplicates then at least don't lock necros.
My biggest fear would be that it's a letdown in terms of longevity or replayability. Should they follow the same formula of set up as the first this shouldn't be a problem, however when looking at the expansions to WoW they certainly did find fantastic ways of ruining what made the game fun ;<
1: A game filled with hackers, dupes. No matter how good the game is, if theres cheaters tehre, i just don't play.
2: No improvement in gameplay. I really hope the need for use many different spells, the orbs, the physics and the new buffed AI really improve the gameplay in a significant way.
3 and most important: A game without a story like D1 and D2. I'm 100% tired of walk foward, kill, get a item, quest done. D1 somehow was better in this aspect because the space was very restrict, so the player creat a bound with the scenarium and the npcs.
And 90% of the above posts actually discuss GRAPHICS. What a sad world...
EDIT: The remaining posts discuss things such as 'WoW-style camera', 'WoW-style combat system', and 'WoW-style monthly fees', which is on one hand even more sad as it means that most people who posted in this thread are clueless enough to not have inquired about the most basic things which were already confirmed about the game and discussed countless times, but they still have time to whine about their 'depest fears' when they see a thread such as this, but on the other hand it's kind of nice that people are giving WoW credit for inventing an array of almost everything that we can see in modern gaming. At least the impression I get from reading the posts.
My greatest fear is that these people are the shiny example of the 'mature' community I will be sharing this game with once it gets out.
Greatest fear? I'll go to the store the day it comes out and they will be out, then I will be forced to rip it out of some little kid’s hands who will cry, and then I'll have to get into a brawl with the kids parents for the game and fight my way to the check out counter, I'll likely have to shove the money in the face of the store manager who will be outraged I ripped it from a kids hands and fought with his parents.
The manager will call the cops and I'll have fight with them, I'll likely get a arrested and have my Diablo III taken from me. Then have to fight with some ugly inmate in the holding cell but because I'm not a barbarian and likely out numbered I'll end up in the hospital with broken bones and no Diablo III. I'll be sad, injured and alone in the hospital. My boss will catch wind I ripped Diablo III from a kids hands and then I'll get fired and of course my wife will hate me for what I did and divorce me.
Now I will be in a hospital sad, injured, alone, and divorced, and jobless with no way to pay for a new copy of Diablo III.
The only cartoonish part about it was the outside. And that's because it's a forest. Truth is if Blizzard released a game that was called Diablo III with the same mechanics as Diablo II we'd be like...dude you could've done more we're in the year 2009. At least they're releasing artwork, trailers and tons of more info for us. They've always delivered, so I'm sure they'll deliver now. If there is one fear about Diablo III, it's that it'll have a crappy trade system.

What the hell will I do then?
(OH that was an embellishment, aaah what fun)
At least I'm not the only one who had that nightmare ^^

Not a lot of the artwork is recent tho.
So it kinda makes me wonder if they are currently doing artwork now to release in the future and just giving us the stuff they have had for a while and just now receiving approval to do so with.
There is a lot of new stuff... but like some of the concept art and stuff is things they did a year back and further.
If that's awesome I can only imagine the things they are working on right now as I type this.

Watching 240 guys talk trash about cavaliers is like two retards having a slapfight over a sippy cup.
I think the only fear that I would have is that they make D3 a pay game like Wow.... other than that none
I wholeheartedly agree. I fear nothing more than being addicted to a game that I have to pay money to play online. I tried WOW once on my friends computer and decided that I could never play again. It was simply too addicting. And I never want to have my Diablo 3 interrupted by not paying.
Yes...It is very true that blizzard uses their standardized "cartoonish" look... Honestly in my opinion, it's kinda sad to see such a company with brilliant ideas be so far behind visually compared to most other games. BLizzard actually has to create their own graphic "styles"(the cartoonish look) to make an appeal to the gaming society. I have lost faith in Blizzard graphics wise, they have let most of us down. From a company like Blizzad, that has an income of atleast 180 billion dollars a year, you would expect them to pump out a game that is outstanding in EVERY POSSIBLE WAY....Im just saying that they have the money and manpower and talent to do so, but they still like the idea of creating their own "realm" of styles...Quite frankly its been working...Only time will tell....

if that changed diablo wont be diablo for me
Rise and rise again, until lambs become lions
Totally not looking forward to that.

Watch it happen.
The younger generation is mastering games so fast that it doesn't even make sense. It's ridiculous.
And how can you still be list the possibility of monthly fees as your top fear when it was confirmed that there will be no such thing?
It's Blizzard.
