Okay, I have an announcement. This "team" shit doesn't really get us anywhere so I decided to change it.
"Team shit?" The teams are only just now starting to take shape, and now assignments/tasks must be formed within those teams. Doing this will take time and patience, which seems to be lacking.
Like Elfen said, it's easy to be cliché, but if you want something original, then adequate time must be given.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
I have a few ideas, mostly monsters, but not really any connection to the story, I have a few other ideas but they are only in the initial stages. I don't have anything really worth posting here as, well, it's naught but all of few sentences.
When I have something something I will post it. However I do not want to spoil too much either, that is another issue with the project.
How to draw someone in to the story and not reveal too much. I think it's much better when you experience things for yourself first hand, rather than someone tell you about it.
No one can be told what the matrix is, you have to see it for yourself.

I actually like the new system a lot more. But instead of having everything so disorganized, make it all so the teams have to get their head Imaginer's approval for an idea, then it gets bumped to the superior, where then he approves it and then he adds it.

Story is pretty hard. Well it is if your trying not to fall back on old cliches. Tyrael is good. Now there is an original idea. Well it seems like that these days, what with a new tyrael = bad thread being made every 6 hours.
Prime Evils are trapped in the Black Abyss, that is officially stated lore, both Cain and Tyrael alude to this. Two out of three soulstones were destroyed, Baal's was never offically confirmed as destroyed, but I would rather exhuast all possible alternative storylines before I write anything to do with his soulstone having not be destroyed, as we all know it must, lest Baal walk the earth again, like Diablo did through the warrior.
But even if Baal were to somehow revive himself he possesses the least amount of soulstone, most of his was broken pre-diablo 1. Tal Rasha was used to replace the broken portion. And you killed the body, so that part of his soulstone is gone. The only bit that remains is the little bit that marius once held, which Baal eventually reclaimed. It hangs around his neck in the opening cinematic of LOD. That + Tal Rasha's body is Baal's soulstone. Small crystal + Body - Body = small crystal.
While Tal Rasha is the host for Baal, it gets complicated trying to work out the situation, as it is offically state he is used to replace the broken part. Tal Rasha is both the host and part of the stone. Why couldn't it have been as simple as Mephisto and Diablo. Full stone in a body? Oh well makes for a better story I guess.
Mephisto's soulstone is show to have been destoryed in the same cinematic Diablo's was, but lore says he broke off small portions of it, to use to control the council members. 6 (3 in travincal 3 in Durance)council members so for arguments sake they each got 5 percent each, then that leave 70% left for the Que Hagan. I doubt Mephisto would be able to manifest himself into anyone who holds less than 15% of his soulstone, or to me, it just seems ridiculous, or you would in theory, get like a starfish that has been quartered, have multiple Mephisto's. And that is plain silly.
So considering that, what am I left with to work with. There is a bit of guess work involved as certain things haven't truly be explained to us. So one possible, and rather plausible idea is there a 3 Prime Evils trapped in the Black Abyss. So then the question becomes how the heck to I get them out of there.
I doubt the Black Abyss works like err most voids, wherein victims are in there for a sort of set time period. generally speaking a multiple of 100 years. 100, 200, 500, 1000, etc. Or said victims, are usually power wizards, or posess powerful enough magics and are able to escape on their own. Ganondorf in Legend of Zelda is an example of this, he was trapped in the Sacred Realm, but possessed the Triforce of Power and was able to engineer an escape. The third scenario for escape, is someone on the outside summoning the victim of imprisonment back to or out to, a destination of their choosing, either by a summoning ritual or were this Dungeons and Dragons (but it's not), a Freedom Spell.
While the Prime Evils are indeed powerful, and Baal is a powerful mage, I don't think any of they would possess any spell to get themselves out of the Black Abyss.
So really I am down to summoning ritual. Which now begs the question, who in the right mind would want to summon them back to the mortal realm, or Hell should the person trying to perform the ritual not be a human, and is infact a demon.
Both Belial and Azmodan are currently the conjoint rules of Hell, bringing even one of the Prime Evils back might invoke a sort of trade of power, Prime Evils are after all, Prime or supreme rulers. Or would one try summon them back to attempt to crush the other? I can't imagine two powerful demons like Belial and Azmodan, wanting to share the "throne" for ever. Heaven may be their common enemy, but two demons who I am sure have vastly different views will not agree with each other all the time.
I mean after all, these two disagreed with the Prime Evils and look what happened there. Prime Evils got banished to the mortal realm after they kill 1/3 of all the demons in Hell.
I guess that is a possible storyline I could pursue. But prehaps there is someone, prehaps in the upper classes of society or the high ranks of a temple or church, that secretly plots against his fellow men, and secretly studies forbidden texts, in the hopes of returning his master (probably Diablo) to this world.
And then in addition to that, I and my team, should they continue to remain working on this project, need to yet factor in the High Heavens. And I guess the effects of the worldstone being gone has of the world. Tyrael said they were unknown. So we would no doubt have to make them up.

Remember too, Elfen, that in the 1.11 patch Lilith performed an ancient summoning ritual to bring the Prime Evils back. I know its just a silly patch to try and give us something to do, but Lilith definitely has the motivation to want them back. Also since she's the only other high level demon we know of. Or you could make up a new demon? There's Lucion, too.
And also don't forget that Hell is currently at a state of civil war. You're right, Azmodan and Belial do not want to share the throne. The denizens of Hell did not take long to polarise, fighting for either Lies or Sin.
You also have to decide on what the effect of not having a Worldstone would have on the world. There are a few possibilities, but luckily since you're the author, you have the abillity to choose.
And note that the Barbarian order seems to be a tad destroyed, as all their elders are dead, many of their population has been killed and they no longer have a purpose in life (their purpose was to defend the Worldstone). I'd say they definitely won't be an available class in DIII lol.
WOW. You read all that? Thanks. Took a while to write it all

Hell is often in a state of Civil War. Demons love fighting. They don't care who it it's with. Any higher up that put a stop to that has got to go, is definitely a mentality they have. You want to keep you demonic minions happy, you give them someone to fight, even if it's themselves, better them than you, you might have other plans. You got a whole world (Sanctuary) to rule. You want help, demons aren't that smart, well at least not the "grunts". You give them someone to fight and they will follow you to the ends of the earth. But they all do have a intense hatred for Angels, I won't lie, but should anyone slow the advance or seize fire so to speak, expect some dissention.
You also have to decide on what the effect of not having a Worldstone would have on the world. There are a few possibilities, but luckily since you're the author, you have the abillity to choose.
I do, but since I am writing for D3, and not some sort of prequel or semi-adjacent storyline, I think it being gone is largely my only option.

Yes, they have somewhat failed in that task. Bul Kathos must be rolling over in his grave. Or in is sarcophagus in his tomb. Wait. Is he even dead? He is the ancient Barbarian king. I don't recall anyone mentioning him as thoug hhe was still alive, yet neither do I recall any mention he is dead either. Hmm. Sounds like a side story/quest in the making there. But yes, with the worldstone gone, they are largely without a purpose. That does kind of rule them out as a playable class. But as many Barbarians left the highlands t omake names for themselves fighting the evil of the world, they wouldn't have been in or near Harrogath when the worldsotne was destroyed. Their return could prove most interesting.

Still, how does it effect the world? Are everyone's powers nerfed or improved? Can Heaven and Hell gain access to Sanctuary or are they more cut off than they were before? Demons still have access to Sanctuary, proven by Moon of the Spider, but how much access exactly is unkown.
Remember that Moon of the Spider takes place after the destruction of the Worldstone, and nothing immediately dramatic happens. Its destruction was so loud that it was even heard in some of the Western Kingdoms. I can't remember how many years after Moon of the Spider is set, but somehow 10 years keeps coming to mind. Thats a long time though.

Well often I write huge explanitory posts and people will seem to just ignore them. It means a lot when someone actually takes the time to read it.
Ah yes, thats true. I didn't think of that. The manual makes it seem like them being at war with each other is significant lol.
I am not to sure how "official" that is in regards to Diablo, it's more of a general point regarding demons. Seems to occur in most novels, movies, games wherein demons (and angels) are present.
Still, how does it effect the world? Are everyone's powers nerfed or improved? Can Heaven and Hell gain access to Sanctuary or are they more cut off than they were before? Demons still have access to Sanctuary, proven by Moon of the Spider, but how much access exactly is unkown.

Yes. Demons still have access. But I think it's in a deminished capacity. Not as many as before, but still large numbers. Or we would have nothing to fight.
I would probably set it around the time of that book, or maybe after, so as to allow for me to better created my own effects of the lose of the worldstone has on the world. I would like to avoid contradicting lore as much as I can.
And while that is something that occurs is sequels from Blizzard alot, I don't like doing it if I can avoid it.
Heh, I think I remember talking about this with you in the past. I don't think he's dead as such, just that his body has merged with the earth/mountains. So his spirit might still influence people.
I believe so yes, I think we discussed it one more than one occassion, class history and beliefs is a subject I have much interest in. The barbarian culture isn't truly expanded on enough for me to know if barbarians bury their heroes and leaders in a tomb, mausoleum, grave, or if they go with a more "viking" like send off, a burning boat of their posessions. That would be hard for the Barbarians living further inland, might be ok for Talic's people, they live on the western shores.
