nice find. but i think it was a joke. because how long ago was that manual published. so long ago that they couldnt have thought about making diablo 3. and wasnt there suppose to be an expansion like diablo salvation or something. idk. good eye though. lol
Yeah, that would be true. Meh, don't crush my hope.
and who is the wizard guy? i am thinking the sorceror but i still cant figure it out its not mephisto is it?
That's him as the Wanderer, in the cloak. It beats me what the guy with the weapons is in the middle, though. Perhaps it's showing that the Hero was still inside him, fighting (with the weapons, metaphorically) for his soul/body?
This was found years ago, like, in 2000, or something. I thought I would bring it up again, for memory's sake.
Look at the top of the border in Metzen's artwork. It looks like it says DIABL 3. Its kind of missing an 'O', unless the '3' is meant to be an 'O', but it looks a hell of a lot more like a 3. I'd say it really is meant to be an 'O' though, cause I really can't find an 'O' other than that, unless you count that little circle. Also, why would he write 'Diablo 3'? it doesn't really make much sense. Eh, its still interesting to bring up again. He probably just tried to disguise the 'O' but accidentally made it a '3'. Then again, he didn't disguise the 'B' very well at all.
Its from the DII game manual. Amazing how much more professional it looks in the manual than it does here. Contrast/brightness is the key
On a side note, what is your interpretation of the image?
It seems to be a warrior surrounded by the Dark Wanderer (surrounded by Diablo's silohette), Mephisto and Baal. Mephisto looks kind of strange, but its presumably him, cause the other guy certainly looks like Baal/Tal Rasha.
My interpretation on the image is that the dark wanderer is above the warrior...above the dark wanderer is diablo's essence inside of him trying to get out or cast a shadow out forwarth. The overall image depicts that the warrior has the fate of man kind on his shoulders whom is surrounded by the 3 prime evils of hell.

lol yeah, thats what I meant to say. My wording sucks.
In regards to the letters: I'm seeing what Carloseus is seeing.
are we all forgetting that Diablo games use roman numerals and not numbers?
Haha, good point, Killer-Swift. I forgot about that.
Well that settles it, its definitely not a 3 then.
And apparently the warrior in the middle of the picture just represents a hero, any hero, as Thasador said. It just seemed strange that we couldn't recognise the hero, but then again, the only thing in the Diablo universe to stay consistent are the demons and angels - the heroes always change.
