summoning of shiva maybe (god of death i do believe)
ooh LinkX i was thinking brass knuckles!!
I kinda like the idea of gloves giving attack rather then the brass knuckles...
Then again the knuckles could give stats... Be like a Monk-class specific weapon, kinda like the orbs for the Sorceresses, katars for Assassins, etc, except more like the orbs then the katars as they would only be for stats...

His skill sets would be various fighting styles or martial arts.
If you had to go with an anime, I probably would have gone with Naruto. Lightning blade Jutsu!!! Hmm, speaking of which, three sets of techniques in Naruto, Ninjutsu, Genjusu and Taijutsu, each one could be a skill set.
But that might be pushing it. As Genjutsu is actually a Naruto only thing, the other two are real.
I like the fighting techniques but like you said, that may be pushing it. Maybe one tree be fighting skills, another could be lets say meditation, and another something else. The fighting skills tree can then as well be divided if necessary.
Yah that's what i was thinking linkx so it would be class specific. Though i don't think brass knuckles would fit the Diablo universe.

I think you keep forgetting that we already have an Amazon and an Assassin class, and just vaguelly making a martial arts class will just make it some boring class with elemental damage additions. We already have valkyries and shadow warriors. We have lightning skills on the Assassin side. Every class in Diablo II is unique, we need to keep it that way.

If you watch Naruto you would know Taijutsu is physical attacks, they others are more summoning animals, shadow clones, water clones, replacing you body with something else, transferring your mind to someone else's body and controlling them.

Yes, some generic similairites, Rogue and Amazon both use bows, but overall, unique.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
How about meditation, like you literally sit down on the ground and can summon either hindu gods as a super attack or can create a shell around you, protecting you, stuff like that.
EDIT: I just thought of the coolest attack cus it fits perfectly with monks. They can cast the vow of silence which is like a curse but it casts silence on your enemies, not allowing them to cast spells.

I don't see how that aids with killing packs of monsters, and we already have 2 summoning classes.
I know, I'm not helping, lol.
I don't remember them casting a lot of spells in Diablo...

Well they arn't completely unique. The fire Sorceresses and fire Druids seem similar.
But that's beside the point. The Assassin, like all the classes, is mostly a weapon class. I am talking more of a hand to hand class. Like one skill might be to grab a guy and break there neck. Or another might be to tackle kinda Link-esque. There is so much you could do that I would never even think of with Martial Arts.

That's a good glove. And the other classes would just see that it requires 40 dex and gives +3 to Sacred Push.
But as a glove it would also give a small bit of defense. Something like 20 or 25?
It supposedly sends a wave of energy that pushes everyone back a bit, makes them unable to attack for a sec, lowers their defense, so that the monk can just run up to them and kill them with his special moves before they realize what's happening...

Similar to the druid's shockwave, or the Barbarian's Warcry in a way.
Seems like a monk class is deserving of a sperate thread. This thread doesn't seem all that much about architecture anymore.

No i mean like when you cast vow of silence on lets say a flayer shaman or one of those mage-like fallen that resurects the dead fallen and flayers, they can no longer resurrect the dead or cast any attacks, rendering them useless. Also the defense shell helps if you have a high dmg merc but you, yourself, have low dmg. Then you can sit down and meditate casting this shell when you are surrounded by enemies and let your merc go to town.

Until a monk class thread is made, I'm posting here.
I really like Whiteghosts' idea. The monk could have like out-of-body experiences, where they seem as if they are meditating but their spirit can hang around them, change sizes and appearance, attack enemies, defend their body, and lots of other things. They could kind of be like the siege tank in Starcraft, where you travel it along and then have to plant it on the ground somewhere before it can really unleash its fury.

Go for it.
In that sense the classes copy each other alot. Fury-Zeal FireSorc-FireDruid Barbarian-BearDruid
The Druid kinda copies almost every class come to think of it...
Yes. But I think with the different fighting techniques around the world that it could be quite a unique class just with fighting alone.

were they making the books back in 96?
