I'm not sure if anyone has said this before, and I wasn't sure if it deserved its own thread or not, but...
I think it would be cool if Diablo's crypts/dungeons/labyrinths were more like the ones in Dungeon Keeper (game). Instead of them just standing around in different parts of fairly empty rooms, I'd like them to be doing (or atleast giving a better illusion of doing) something interesting. Each room could have a different purpose, like in Dungeon Keeper.
You know, things like a lair, a hatchery (food), a workshop, a library, a guard post, torture chamber, temple (including a sacrifice room and something that worships their master) and things like that. So far there seem to be different rooms with books and barrels and things, but its still a bit too generic and many of the rooms feel like they are just there for the sake of it. DI was better at it than DII, cause it had things like the Chamber of Bone and the Halls of the Blind, but I would love to see an even better improvement.
Basically I'd like to see things that makes them seem more organised. Even the fallen are fairly organised with their little camps.
I think the real answer is just a better AI system, not only with combat but with what they do while they are not fighting us (or maybe they simply choose to ignore us for something better? Scavengers do that in DI).
yes I wish that diablo will be more exciting ,but he is the best

You can probably expect an improvement, though I doubt very much focus is going to be put on the monsters doing something else other than fighting you.
WoW always has small villages with patrols, huge chambers, laboratories, altars, barracks etc. in all its dungeons, so area design will definately be improved.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
AI will also be improved, allowing for interaction between NPCs and monsters even. Imagine walking up to Akara and she's talking with Warriv or Cain and you are able to overhear their conversation. Stuff like that would be cool.

Maybe if one of the classes is a ranger type (druid?), he can become "allied" with some monsters after enough interaction?
Only if the pc can interact with the npc's by other means than the sword ^^
Due to the nature of the mobs you're facing, meaning demons, it's highly unlikely that any such thing will be implemented unless a faction system comes along, and even then it's a far stretch. Demons are usually hell bent on destruction or quite intelligent. Which means that either they are hard to cooperate with, or they've smart enough to go beyond the pet stage and into a more human level of interaction.

I just thought openly about how to use this new dimension in other ways than purely enviromentally(sp?). Just thinking of the possibility of two fallen ones getting into a (nonlethal) fight over something makes me smile...
True, it would be something to see. However, you always have to weight the benefits versus the drawbacks against each other. Sure, I'd like to see it as well, but how much time would it take to implement a feature like this without making it dull, repetetive and/or mechanical in its presentation?
One day theses things will be commonplace and obvious to appear in a game, but I don't think we're there, and I'd much rather have more intelligent monsters in battles thatn outside of them

Well, whatever the improvement is, as long as its an improvement then its a good thing
