Hey Everyone, I've been playing D3 for awhile now, used to play DH but hen really liked the play of the WD and I have been maining WD since Season 2 i believe. I'm just curious what the community thinks on something that I have noticed. In terms of class representation WD is underwhelmingly seen in solo, 2 man, and three man. Not till you look at 4 man do you see a drastic increase in WD played, and no knock on supports at all, but almost all of them are supports.
What would it take for people to use WD in a setting outside of support. I understand that DH, WoH Wizard, and the several variations of thorns crusader just completely outclass WD, but with WD seeming to be the fastest, or second fastest (not sure if monk builds out speed WD chicken build or in-geom/locust swarm build) I would think they would be a great option for besting Grift times, speed farming T10, or even just being a reliable DPS.
I conclude with I am in no way a pro and what I have stated above is just my observations and I'm just seeking opinions on what could be done specifically, other than the generic "make them better" response.
Also another thought i just had, If there was an option to chose between different stances for your characters, do you think more people would play WD? I definitely can see how the shaky, old man look could dissuade players from choosing a WD over the heroic stance of a barbarian or monk
WD spells actually increase the damage taken by the enemies, rather than just stacking with other damage buffs of the team, so slam dance is not additive, but multiplicative in the damage calculations with his other debuffs and damage potential. My math behind this is the 115% damage debuff potential from everything include HT, and the 30% you get from slam dance (ignoring the attack speed). Slamdance makes for a 130% of the damage of the dps class, excluding attack speed again, then you apply the 115% from debuffs to the enemy, which is between 149%-150% damage increase for each party member. "edit: so the answer is:" Nerf the witchdoctor mercilessly and then increase his damage output a little bit to be competitive.
I believe that actually is the best WD build out right now, Last time iI checked the ladders the #1 WD was using a LoN build but they obly got to Grift lvl 83, idk maybe I'm just butthurt or maybe I'm expecting too much but I feel like they should be able to do a little better? Maybe not solo 90, but at least get to 85 like the other classes haha
The WD has a set place in the 4 man GR composition as it stands. Of course as a zdps support. However, no class except wizard is there for dps in the current meta. The Energy Twister build and it's synergy with a globe monk and barb is just way too strong to allow anything else if you want an optimal group for exp farming or pushing. The group can't survive without Monk and Barb and the WD gives the best damage amp, especially because of the attack speed from Voodoo.
Because more aps equals more Twisters out, equals much more damage. You can play with a support DH instead of WD, but WD provides more damage. GR 100 is already cleared with that setup in Season 5 and literally everyone uses it for exp farming.
At this point, I refuse to play "Meta" it is burdensome, it ruins the game. This game is meant to be fun, thrilling, about killing monsters, and support to some extent is okay, but a full action bar of support doing no damage just is not what any "Meta" of an ARPG should EVER be.
The game should simply limit action bars to allow a single support spell, that is it.
The other option is to remove "infinite" from the system entirely. Because without "infinite" there will not be a need to find every way possible to reach a higher number for ones own ego stroking.
I main the WD. For solo you can do 80+ With LoN firebats or LoN darts. If you want to play DPS with WD in 2/3/4 mans, then LoN Darts is your best bet. You can easily do 85+ with LoN darts in 4 mans. 80+ in 2s or 3s. Keep in mind though I am a GG wd.

Do you mean WD being black is an issue then? Not as heroic as the other white classes? Kinda racist dude
not at all, didn't even bring race up. Nice troll attempt though

I though solo seasonal DH and Monk have both cleared higher than Grift lvl 83 though? I could be wrong....
Is that seasonal? and where do you check your leaderboards? just curious, not doubting ya!
I have WD at 83
DH at 81
Crusader at 86
Wiz at 86
Barb at 84
Monk at 82
that is according to official Battle.net leaderboards for season 5 solo rifts
