I think a diablo mmo is possible, i mean look at oblivion its coming out with a mmo expansion soon (i nearly crapped my pants when i heard that) so its plausible that diablo 3 could have an mmo expansion, probable? not really
had it ever occured to any one here that blizzard makes games... they are not trying to but secret messages into everything... the tristram song at blizzcon... they prolly wanted to have some fun so they played a song from one of thier games that everyone knows... they dont have a whole team making up ways to make us think that they are making a new mmo...
What's with all your dots and "they are not trying to but" lol that made me lol... and the first part of your lil paragraph "had it ever occured to anyone here that blizzard makes games..." yes, it has occured to me.
They probably do have a secretive team that's ment for hints and tricks and stuff like that...

speaking of the tristram song, im currently trying to learn it on the guitar(its complicated but not impossible) im thinking of making a heavy metal version of it.
and is almost word for word identical. Interestingly the MMO advert implies supervision of a team is necessary whereas the advert citing DI and DII does not require supervision of others, even though it is as a "lead" artist. Must be a much smaller team.
Clearly, Blizzard has at least four active development teams:
1) SC II
2) WOW
3) MMO Top Secret
4) Top Secret
I'm of the school of thought that both Top Secret games are NOT necessarily related. The fact that the ads are almost identical in wording is simply that the poster used cut and paste or a template.
But I still can't decide is that templates aside, are the two projects related?
What I will say is that the new Diablo game will be called "The Sin Wars" or have "Sanctuary" in its name or both.
It is possible Blizzard could develop a Sanctuary single player game and an online MMO in tandem. Having purchased Sanctuary we can go online and play but to really get into any MMO we need to pay. Same as Hellgate London.
Note that Blizzard have a separate section for consoles/mobile games. This would be a fifth project.

So we've got over the problem of colour in D3. Great. Now let's argue about everything else not yet set in stone and help make this game simply great! Game on.

Some good points on the ads, but with Battle.net 2 on it's way I doubt very much Diablo 3 is going to be any more of a pseudo MMO than Diablo 2 was with an online game matching system. It'll either be a full blown MMO or same formula as before (maybe a graphical chatroom and game finder etc)
They announced this year that they were indefinitely stopping any console activity as it was detracting from their core focus. I'll see if I can find a link for that one.

Oh I didn't know that. Curiously the Blizzard site has a category for "mobile" job vacancies. But the ad might be an old one too.
On the point about an NDS version - of any Blizzard game really. They'd have to dumb things down a lot. Sure, I enjoy the Avatar, Legend of Aang and the sequel on the NDS. Meaty enough for me but a proper DII on the NDS would be way beyond its limits.
I sure wish the NDS could handle DII/DIII though. Each NDS would be a member of the party. Could see game stores hosting NDS network meets in shopping malls. Would be massive. For a small fee the game store would run a PC based server to link everything together. Stores would be able to generate customised instances, bespoke games with themes, scheduled to run for "x" hours. And all night marathons with pizza around holiday times.
Dream on everybody!

As far as their next-gen mmo is there any reason to think they won't do a full sequel to WoW? I know that would make us scream but I'm so used to being disappointed at the lack of a diablo 3 announcement I'm more inclined to believe in this.

But it would ressemble WoW way too much.
That's my opinion...unless they did some radical changes to the game.
To find the truth, you must risk everything.

Note that the other lead 3d artist position is for an MMO game and DI and DII were not cited:
