OK, check it out, I'm going to rock your world. The developers said that Sanctuary is such an evil place, that no know really noticed the prim evils died, because the place is consistently evil(Paraphrased exaggerated slightly.)
Now to my real point : can we just forgo the continuity in the lore argument? No matter how you slice it, it just sounds like people trying to make sense of plot holes in bad movies.
Not at all, they said people think the evils never existed, and that the peace has been on the kingdom for 20 years.
And still Diablo 1 looks realistic with shitty graphics.
Please stop calling Diablo graphics shitty... it looks way better than D2 (imho) or D3 at this point... Just because you provided a badly optimized screenshot or play on a widescreen doesn't mean the graphics are SHITTY. The graphics are very crisp and nice. They are not lively as in 3D, but please don't call the graphics of one of my fav games shitty when there's no basis for it...

They also said, they were expecting an attack, but it never came. Might be due to the fact that belial and azmodan were fighting with each other in hell.
I think the whole "forgot about Diablo" subplot is ridiculous.
And you can clearly see demons and skeletons in the outdoor environments yet it looks as if they hadn't touched a damn thing. Don't tell me that the presence of evil shouldn't and wouldn't have an impact on the environment. I'm sure they love gardening.

they're still better than cartoony graphics. That was my point.
D1's graphics were great for their time.

Alright, Ive talked quite a bit but didnt show my idea yet, I messed a bit with photoshop until I got the right look
IMO, you are lying to yourself if you dont prefer the darker version... That is exactly how I think of Diablo 2 in a 3D environment, more realistic, sharper, "not knowing what will come up next", having the only real light source being your character's light radius, this is Diablo, not the above version
(Ill update later if I mess with some other pics)
I don't want 24/7 nighttime, like people above said. I also don't want 24/7 rain. It's been 20 fking years of peace ffs.
you guys have to remember, D3 isnt cartoony, its just the best they can do in 3D without creating an Uber Hardware Hog game.
we already covered this.
640$ machine can run Crysis on High. (not Ultra settings)
Expensive systems is not an excuse for using graphics from 2002 for a game scheduled for around 2010.

Does anyone else notice the rainbow in the background on the first... so childish... This is Diablo III come on...
It's not a rainbow. It's realism. Have you ever seen light reflect off of mist? It has a prism effect that causes rainbow-esque colors.
I for one am surprised that Blizzard paid this much attention to the graphics, and commend them for it.
You guys are complaining about the engine now, but when Blizz has to scrap it because of you I bet you guys will complain that they are taking too long to release. Spoiled brats.

They can do better, trust me. And they also added "stylization" to the game, which will probobly make all the dark environments look like something right from Scooby Doo.
The goal, it seems, is to create heroic characters with making them appear cartoony, behaving in a world that acts realistically (thanks to the addition of destructible environments to the gameplay) while maintaining a fantasy feel.

I like the realistic imagery that we get in the game, I really do, but it needs to be darker, atleast in some areas. I due agree that I like the brightly lit areas when you leave a dungeon. It feels refreshing to leave a dungeon and be in the daylight.
I bet they only try to make it more cartoony so it will appeal to a WoW audiance as well as diablo fans. This is quite a shame as they should keep separate teams for both game.
Dont think he said that, the person who wrote the article is wrting that as an opiion it seems.D3 does NOT look cartoony to me at all... get ur heads out of your butts.
I swear I heard that location before...

DIABLO
Look at the second to last set of pictures. The one with the Barbarian on the bridge. Is that a rainbow in the background?

Your Sig is really really annoying. No offense, it just bothers me.
