i didn't notice that yet, wow that girl sucks ass big time. Bulky horrible armour built directly off a Wow Orc warrior model/skin. The females in all diablo's were built feminine, with more realistic armour not gigantic fridge machines with hoofs for feet

What if the game looks this way just in the beginning? But as the game plays on, in the later levels, the game gets darker. The trees begins to die, and NO more rainbows?
We haven't seen their Later levels, so that's the problem, maybe Later levels are just much darker
I think from a storypoint of view it makes sense too.
20 years Terror has gone, and place begins to have LIFE...andcolor, but as Terror returns, they are dying once again!
So, maybe we should ask Blizzard to Release a Later level to us, see what it looks like, if infact it's just as colorful as these earlier levels (If they are even that far), before we really complain about things?
If so, these style are OK with me, because it signifies at this point in the game, it's still not over taken by Full force of Evil Yet!

Blizzard, please put back the single player offline mode!
One thing I noticed. Some bits do look good. Look on the left (the grey bit) I think that's the way it should look for the most part. Anyone agree. Also notice the left it's very dark, sort of the effect light radius would hae
I think the Only problem is the place look too colorful/too light and not as scary/evil as Diablo 1/Diablo 2 was! The models/architecture is actually FINE to me!
It will also change, too, I would think from place to [Later place]

i totally agree that the graphics we saw in the gameplay trailer are totally un-diablo but im not excactly sure what it is that makes me feel that way...
When i first played diablo 2, and walking the the cathedral i actually felt scared....there were remains of bodies on tables that were torn apart at the torso and i remember thinking that it was grotesque.
But when i watced the gameplay trailer, even as bodies of monsters were exploding i felt like it was just normal. the element of realism...the grossness....the goryness just isnt there. it feels like it is acceptable to watch that.
Imagine if the sort of things happening in the trailer (the cultists summoning up those demons, monster corpses exploding) happened in D2? even with its 2D graphics or whatever it would look REALLY terrifying. it would look real, it would look scary. i would be thinking to myself "holy shit that is gross, no one should be put through that, nor witness that"
I really hope that blizzard reconsider their direction in regards to the look of the game. if it turns out looking like it does in the trailer ill be quite dissapointed.
Well, I notice it's a woman... Woman usually like colorful stuff!
Then they will LOVE Diablo 3.

The Barbarian is from Arreat, a very cold snowy mountain top, but they are much tougher than normal humans, so they don't need warmth.

Where are Barbarians originally from? Sumeria, or more specifically Mesopotamia, AKA Europe. Think the Alps and the Pyrenees

Cartoony gore is still a cartoon.
Japanese cartoons have tons of gore and blood; they're still cartoons.

IMO Frostwake you make it a little do dark in some places.
I like it dark in the landscape (road/ground/plants/sky)
but less on the mobs themselves, the mobs near you in the picture look awesome cause the light shine on them from the char, but the farther you go they become black mess of blurry figure, a thing which not happend with the original picture.
and the Chick with the armor makes me puke. WoW armor eww.
I have to say after messing around, the really major problem about the current graphics is them being washed out... Notice how in my "manipulations" the colors remain warm and strong, so all you guys screaming "we dont want a grey game", can shut up now, its now about being grey
I just hope Blizzard sees this...
im actually loving these alterations...if anything the colors pop out in more detail. im fully behind blizzard seeing this comparision and having them, take this direction.
it also takes away that Painted feeling that the art seems to be going, which is in no means bad and id be fine with it if its in the final product, however id rather see it in the Backaround like for mountains off in the distance or whatnot.

I really like these manipulations, the foliage in the environment stands out more, its sharper.
the real problem for me is the size of that warhammer or whatever it is the barbarian is wielding.
honestly...in real life would that be a good shape for a weapon?
To all of you that are complaining that D3 is TOO colorful and TOO bright...Go take a look at some D2 screenshots, it to has lots of Color and bright areas. You have seen a bit of gameplay footage and some screenshots of D3 and you think you can make a judgement this quickly.http://s2d2.turboimagehost.com/sp/4b6b19389beddbf9f3e7e89ab4a12c90/D2.jpg
"if you look at diablo 1 and 2, they were very umm... I mean they obviously had the gothic look to it, but, you they weren't, they weren't very uh, very colorful games. And one of the challenges we wanted to take with Diablo III was, 'could we add color, but still maintain that gothic dark feel?' You know cause I think, uh, we want to take dark as an emotion, rather than an actual color art choice. And I think that's something that um, you know took a long time to get to the point we're at now, like we've probably gone through at least three different pretty major art direction shifts, until we got to the point where we are on stage. Because I think it's really difficult to pull that off. But, we're really happy with the game now."

i dont think the brightness is so much the concern now, at least not for me. we all can adjust gamma and brightness on our monitors and with in game options (see the picture you posted for proof ;)) i just want sharper lines and more distinctness between something like a leaf on a rocky road and grass from that.
For a game like diablo a more defined and detailed art direction is more appealing than the painted smoothed and warm out art direction it currently has.
but in all honesty im fine with either. and content right now cause i know blizzard will look at these insane amounts of posts/threads and adjust it accordingly (just like starcraft II)and thats why they are an Amazing company.

Your image just degrades and desaturates.
Blizzard WANTS the accents of vibrant colors. You washed out the important accent - the fire special effect. Now it just blends in with the ground

Maybe if you increased the brightness and contrast a bit further it will look even more bright.
?????
Never in the 5 solid years that I had played Diablo2 had I seen the textures so bright. If I took a screenshot it looked even darker.
The games that are dark and filled with shadows and darkness are made that way on purpose. Doom and Resident Evil weren't made so you can see through the darkness as if it were day.
And I can't figure out why you so blatantly refuse to accept that D3 looks terrible and far from the concept art. Nothing like D2. Your argument is that D2 had colors?
