Does anyone else notice the rainbow in the background on the first... so childish... This is Diablo III come on...
It's not a rainbow. It's realism. Have you ever seen light reflect off of mist? It has a prism effect that causes rainbow-esque colors.
I for one am surprised that Blizzard paid this much attention to the graphics, and commend them for it.
You guys are complaining about the engine now, but when Blizz has to scrap it because of you I bet you guys will complain that they are taking too long to release. Spoiled brats.
you guys have to remember, D3 isnt cartoony, its just the best they can do in 3D without creating an Uber Hardware Hog game.
They can do better, trust me. And they also added "stylization" to the game, which will probobly make all the dark environments look like something right from Scooby Doo.
The goal, it seems, is to create heroic characters with making them appear cartoony, behaving in a world that acts realistically (thanks to the addition of destructible environments to the gameplay) while maintaining a fantasy feel.

I like the realistic imagery that we get in the game, I really do, but it needs to be darker, atleast in some areas. I due agree that I like the brightly lit areas when you leave a dungeon. It feels refreshing to leave a dungeon and be in the daylight.
I bet they only try to make it more cartoony so it will appeal to a WoW audiance as well as diablo fans. This is quite a shame as they should keep separate teams for both game.
Dont think he said that, the person who wrote the article is wrting that as an opiion it seems.D3 does NOT look cartoony to me at all... get ur heads out of your butts.
well, the best we can do is not care then, they made their choice, and the game has too much already done to start making textures and models from scratch.
No. It is very possible to make touch-ups to existing models and textures without starting from scratch.

The more and more people talk about (I agree with your statement above) appealing to the WoW audiance, the sicker I get. WoW is the only Blizzard game I didnt buy the first day. And I stopped playing it faster than any other. I hate everything, and I mean everything about WoW. And it's appeal to all sorts of people. It is fantasy sims for losers with no life...
Diablo needs to have its own dev group who havent worked on WoW.

You can't see the cartoony look because your not sober...
In a way, WoW keeps fidelity from WCIII but that fidelity does not belong with DIII. There seems to be far to much comotion about this, I do hope blizzard does the right thing and reworks the textures.
I do see a resemblance to cartoony characters. Personally, it doesn't bother me much. I just hope that the story is immersive and the game be fun to play. If it isn't fun, then it isn't fun. I never really pay too much attention to what my character looks like anyway. If it was a chicken suit that made them a badass I'd still wear it.

The blind mind's eye replies with a sigh and a tear of contempt for those who see the world as it truly is.

"Why the hell shouldn't it be for 'kiddies', it's a goddamn game afterall." -lethlan
Why is there still any argument about this? If you don't give a flying carp about the graphics go play a text game. If you do and you like the graphics, go play WoW.

The characters don't seem very cartoony to me, but some parts of the environment do. I remember in Diablo I, the hideous and vile looking shrines. I want hideous looking things no funny looking. I mean look at what they made diablo look like. He looks scary as shit.

Now we are getting somewhere, some more flowers and ponies and we are set for launch.

Your Sig is really really annoying. No offense, it just bothers me.

Shame Diablo core fans have to suffer some because of that, though.

Whatever Blizzard decides to do, I urge them to first make outside changes, Less Rainbow, less/No Bunnies, Trees not as lushful/colorful.
I think I am fine with Inside though.

I kinda miss that old phrase: "The graphics kinda suck, but the game is AWESOME!"
I guess the age of people who don't care about graphics has passed.
