all i have to say is this is d3 not d2, if you want the game to be exactly like d2 in look and feel go play d2. theres no point in spending millions of dollars to make the exact same game. its called evolution people.
Well hooray for someone who likes series to not feel like a series and a set of completely different games
You've got to be kidding me? Is this thread serious? Sorry, but i'm going to have to rant! The game was only announced on saturday, and we know very little about it. To those that aren't satisfied with what they have seen, you don't have to buy it, continue to play the Diablo games that you prefer. On a side note, nothing in the Starcraft 2 graphics department has changed, the only thing different is that more content was released, making the game seem more natural. Give it time, i'm positive Blizzard has cooked up an ample amount of different zones, all with different feels and influences. It's the Diablo franchise, the name alone promises (no pun intended) one hell of a game!
If anyone pays close attention to textures in game, you'll notice the floor textures of "Forgotten Tomb" (the first part of the D3 Demo) are nearly identical to the floor textures of many places in WoW, like older buildings or even places like Ironforge.
Anyone know if the texture artist is the same guy? Perhaps they're just rehashing similar resources. Kinda disappointing.
Staggering. We all wait quite literally years for this game to be announced, and when it finally does, the overwhelming whinging about graphics defies belief. A Blizzard developer could be forgiven for wanting to throw in the towel right now, since it seems that nothing would ever be good enough? I imagine the majority of fans have watched the 20 min gameplay video, and yet so little praise for what we've seen? Such a shame that so many would choose to bitch and moan to such an extent that it overshadows what promises to be a great game.
I, clearly a minority, was fully and completely satisifed by what we've been shown. The game looks absolutely true to what's gone before, whilst innovating and adding finesse in all the right places. I completely disagree with the criticisms of too much colour, or that the graphics are cartoony. Guess what? You want it darker or with less colour? You'll find a handy set of buttons on your monitor, to twiddle your brightness/contrast/saturation to your heart's content. As for "cartoony", I genuinely have no idea what people are referring to. Watching the gameplay video, there's nothing of the sort, and I thought it was a bad joke when I first read comments implying so.
Aside from the fact that I think D3 currently looks great, have people completely forgotten what the long history of video games has taught us? i.e. gameplay is key. Without it, you have nothing. Games that endure over time, do so on playability alone. Tetris being a prime example. So why not actually have a little faith in a company that has got it so exceptionally right in the past, that they'll do so again.
Oh and lastly, to those that wish to bleat on about it being "my game" or "our game", please grow up. If you really can't let it go that you think you know better than an incredibly talented team of developers, do everyone a favour and either put your money where your mouth is and do it better yourself, or shut up and exercise your right to simply not buy the game if the graphics are such a big deal to you that they'll ruin your enjoyment.
p.s. This isn't directed at everyone, and critiquing is all well and good, and perfectly healthy. This is more for the benefit of the never-happy, always-know-better fanboys who will forever wish for a game that's completely new and exciting in every way, and yet magically exactly the same as what went before. Get a grip.

Like I said earlier, the first part of the demo was of a place called "Forgotten Tombs", clearly a place that needs an aged, worn, and dark atmosphere, and not the clean-edged, washed out, water-color appearance it currently has.
And we all realize it's a very early release. It's just important for Blizzard's target audience and major player demographic to get their opinions out earlier so (if they choose), they can modify the game easier.
While I agree the skinning and low-poly model aren't particularly attractive, the physical age of the barbarian is meant to be older (since the game takes place 20 years later).
This pic is bright, but it's still has realistic characters and textures.
THIS is the barb that should be fully playable in 3D.
That would be next gen.

Relax, spaz , you'll be able to customize your characters appearance, most likely.
And if not, STFU. It's called aging. Humans tend to do that.
CyberPunk RP Nexus
^^^ Not the barb we expected.

I have no gripes over the barbarian, I think he looks quite nice as he is.
