How is "we can destroy the world in 10 days" relevant to anything?
That's something a tenyearold child would say about its father "my father could kick your fathers ass", very childish indeed and absolutly not impresing me in the least.

thats more like a 3 pointer to me most people that voted for Bush are under the influence of extreme propaganda. I've been talking to many citizens of the US lately and most of them said (and i agreed) that Bush is an asshole and they're lucky he cant be elected again.

Isn't it far more logical to say that people on the outside have a far clearer view on whats happening?
good question but think about how many people on this forum use logic. And think about how many people are interested in politics and "know" something about whats going on in the world.
i dont think more quoting is needed, i really agree with the points Doppel had on the last post at least.
I would agree that reading about another country can only get you so far in understanding another country. Sometimes my problem with non-U.S. people talking about the U.S. is how they sum up our country in a few sweeping generalizations and fail to consider how deeply divided the country really is. It's like, there is hardly a single America, but really a multi-faceted one that can hardly be clumped together in a single description.
I read at least a few scholarly publications about world events, but it can be difficult for me when reading about other countries to detect where the author's bias has come in and where it has not.
Well, I actually do live here. And I lived in Russia, and I lived in Ukraine. Does that make me more right or something? Rubbish.
No, I think you misunderstood me. I'm saying that without having actually lived in a country, a person lacks a certain perspective that living there would've given them. But at the same time, never living there and only reading about a place can also give you a unique perspective, but the basis of that person's take is completely different than one who lives in that country. And that simply needs to be kept in mind when arguing another country's politics.
Extreme propaganda? This isn't Nazi Germany. There is no extreme propaganda. And the fact is, if all you go by is what you see on news sites, then you are infact only getting one side of the story.
All you people *think* you know what you are talking about and think you are correct because thats all you know. If you were told dogs were cats when you first learned about them, you'd think dogs were cats but everyeon else would think you're stupid.
We were discussing the might of different countries so stating that the US could annihilate the Earth in 10 days is in fact relevant.
The United States is more than a bunch of republican Bush supporters and until you idiots figure that out and quit judging us based on our current president you can fucking die. I wouldn't be sad in the least.
I for one do not support Bush and I'm neither a democrat nor a republican but to listen to you spit out garbage that isn't what you know from experience but from what you've been spoon fed is ridiculous. Leave the politics to big boys.
The United States is more than a bunch of republican Bush supporters
Correct, thats one reason to hope that todays only overpower wont destroy the world just yet - at least not with another world war. But from what i've seen the politics towards other countries never changed no matter which president led the States. And the way politics towards other countries were led might have brought allies, but not friends (except Israel maybe). And a power without friends cant be sure about how loyal the ally will remain.

Experience is relative. Some if not most of us have experience of how the US handle politics related to other countries (we're it). And can have opinions about that. In case you didnt notice i didnt mention anything about whats going on WITHIN the United States since i honestly have no clue. It doesnt matter either, a world power (the biggest remainin in the world) thats supposed to stand for justice around the globe (as its leaders say at least) wouldnt commit the crimes the US have over the past couple decades (at least). And we havent been spoon fed. We can see things more clearly without inside propaganda since guess what: we dont live in the US!

Try to see things without taking sides. You'll see what i mean if you ever manage to.
And look back at how much the world owes to the United States. You're all lucky you aren't speaking German as your first language. Don't argue with me and say that the United States didn't save you asses durings WWII because we clearly did. We supplied tanks and fighters and guns and we pretty much took Japan out of the equation. Europe owes the US more than anyone.
I'm not the one picking sides. All I'm saying is that if all you can do is repeat what you've been told, you should keep your mouth shut as that is how rumors get started.
many people do the same mistake so let me point out a few things in history for you:
And look back at how much the world owes to the United States. You're all lucky you aren't speaking German as your first language. Don't argue with me and say that the United States didn't save you asses durings WWII because we clearly did.
We're not lucky cause we fought during the whole war. Talking as a greek, we (the tiny nation of today) managed to stop the Italian forces (nr 1 ally of the nazis) at that time, force Germany to come with full force to defeat us (as they did) and delay them and their supplies to their African front (that about Greece alone). Considering France was taken down pretty fast, the English fought more on the European front. But its not where the Germans lost WWII. They lost by attacking the Soviet Union before they had their sides clear. There were 2 reasons the US joined the war:
1. they were attacked by the Japanese in Pearl Harbor.
2. they didnt want to leave the Soviets have the power in Europe.
The soldiers of the US fought bravely, no doubt, but the real reason of the American attack to the nazis and march to Berlin was to get there before the Soviets. Berlin was split to 3 parts at first (together with all of Germany) and then in 2 (american and british parts united).
about Japan, they were foolish enough to attack you and that was when you first joined the war. Before that you didnt do nothing. And right after you tested how nukes really work on people. On them.
We supplied tanks and fighters and guns
By this u prolly mean "sold". Thats the same thing the Soviets did too, you know. Its all about economics.
Europe owes the US more than anyone
actually US owes Europe more since technically the people that live there are mostly Europeans that travelled across the ocean to the colonies and made the place there home. The us are only around 300 years old after all, no?
All I'm saying is that if all you can do is repeat what you've been told, you should keep your mouth shut
i got something to ask you about it, really.
Do you think about that matter or you just "repeat what you've been told"? Cause from what i've seen towards your reply to my post was "hey shut the fuck up, we saved your asses in WWII". Even if you're not that well informed.
Had we not stepped in, the now United Kingdom would have eaten it. Europe would have been lost on Germany's western front. Leaving who knows how much extra help to handle the USSR.
Why we joined is not important. What we brought to the table is. Had we not supplied the weapons, regardless of whether they were sold to europe or not, they would have ran out of ammunition and had no way of continueing the war.
Japan had quite a navy and given the oppurtunity, would have helped cripple Russia from the East but don't worry, we went ahead and took care of that for you.
US thank Europe? Thanks for supplying the people to create the United States. That's all the credit you get. Ever heard of taxation without representation and the American Revolution? Great Britain doesn't exactly deserve a bunch of credit. Don't get me wrong, I'm very glad to have them by our side now. They are the only people that really stuck by us.
Also, before the war in Iraq, the reason the US's deficit was bad was because of the amount of money we've given to other countries. While the United States may look like a bunch of arrogant assholes, you'd be surprised how much aid we've given to countries in need. You probably haven't heard much about it since the news especially outside the US tends to only show the bad side of things.
If people were more intelligent, they wouldn't be so quick to jump on the bandwagon. Asking people to bite their tongues when talking about a country I'm very proud to be a part of isn't asking too much. It's probably asking too little.
My country could annihilate the Earth in one day although its a very small country, does this make us a superpower and is this relevant to the original discussion?
No they couldn't. Good try though.
Start thinking about who represents the US because thats the only thing thats relevant.
Actually because you brought up the nazi's, knowing there where people who disagreed with fascism and nazism doesn't take away what Nazi Germany did.
When you talk about Nazi Germany are you talking about every single person living in Germany at that time or are you talking about Hitler?
I hope the latter.
Had I been referring to Germany as a whole, I would have said Germany. Notice the "Nazi" before Germany.
Look its simple, Bush represents the US, Bush represents the Republics, the Republics picked Bush, and the people picked Bush.
And please tell me, what experience do you have exept physicaly being able to vote whoever you voted for?
Don't give me that crap about "leaving politics to big boys", its that kind of arrogance Bush and his minions portrait.
70 some odd percent don't approve of Bush. This is the crap people don't like. We don't like Bush so we don't like the US. Ignorance, utter ignorance.
Oh and thank you France for beating the crap out of Britain in America.
Where did you read this? France prevented retreat. The colonies did a large majority of the ass beating.
Is that right?
Name me one country, just one.
And don't come with examples as Iraq, thats not helping, thats persuing interests under the false notion of helping.
Is there any help whatsoever of the US in Africa?
Don't get me wrong, Europe isn't much better when it comes to that, but i don't go around acting all high and mighty and shouting "I am so great, I am so great".
Still doesn't justify anything, no matter how many crazy and barbaric things happen in this world the US is supossed to be a civilized and democratic nation with strong moral values,
Over throwing out a dictator that murder millions of his own people is a strong point that we did the right thing.
Quote from "Doppelganger" »

There is a reason why America is the most hated country in the world you know, and its not because its easy to make fun of Bush.
United States has the largest immigration of foreigners in the world. People love the United States because they come here to work. The anit-Bush campaign was started because of his poor speech preparation, spelling and grammar.

Weird how all Americans can see how much propaganda China or Russia or North Korea use but never look at themselfs and whenever someone mentions it they make it sound like one big conspiracy, well let me tell you, in a country as big as America with people that have so much influence it doesn't take much to make a conspiracy on a massive scale.
Its not like there never where any conspiracies in the US, so why would today be any different?
There is nothing as televised as the US. There is as much controversy here as anywhere else in the world. Ours is just smeered on the news more then most. Yes there is a lot of propaganda, its called the news. Every story you see is edited to make controversy or a good story. You people watching and believing what you see on TV as truth insted of investing time to do any leg work.
My buddy Jake was an Anti-Bush person as well. At least he was anti-Bush for the correct reasons and he didn't vote for him when he ran.
The problem is we have to many people looking out for themselves. I respec Bush as a President. I don't agree with quite a few decisions that he has made but at least he sticks by them when he feels he is correct.
"Bush made up the whole Weapons of Mass Destruction thing." - To you folks that believe in this are so full of conspiracy theories it is rediculous. Bush gets information from his staff and then makes a decision off of the information. The democrats in the senate along with a few republicans have already gone over this.
I would like a new President as much as the next guy, but I would like it to be Anyone that cares about this great nation and who is not going to lie cheat, steal, or snort coke up his nose.

yep, we bombed them killing 250,000 and yes thats including the 70,000 that died in the months following, but we was in war, and when in war people die, no we didnt just bomb to kill civilains we destored the 2 largest naval building stations and a large fort,.. but when compared to option B to have japan surrender, mass invasion 10x the size of D-day that would have taken atleast 6-8 months at the cost of nearly 1,000,000 US lives and 2,000,000 from Japan

Soviet Union lost over 22 million in that war. A few million just in the battle of Stalingrad. Germany had a good army. A very good army. They all just FROZE in USSR. They couldn't do anything to USSR. USSR is more nacistic than America is. They lost all their army there... What if their army was never destroyed? What if they never went into USSR, but continued to attack Europe? And there Americans talk about Omaha Beach as though it's some great event, but it's just because that is the most they have ever contributed to wars. Americans never truly took part in wars, they just participated. Supplied weapons, big deal. Everyone supplied weapons. Soviets had their own nukes and they could have, just the same, sent some nukes onto Japan. You didn't save anyone from Nazi's, you were just afraid of the crazy communitsts! The most you can say is that you saved everybody from the communitsts, because that is actually true. Good thing USSR and Germany never allied, there would have been nothing left of America's superpowerness.
And, let me point out. That all doesn't make the Soviet Union a good country or anything. It is still a horrible country. Same goes to anyone else. Helping or not helping any kind of even some years ago doesn't make you any better than anyone else. One of your greatest minds said once that countries don't do favors. And they don't. They do what is better for them. I hope you remember who said that.
Good thing USSR and Germany never allied, there would have been nothing left of America's superpowerness.
You fail to see the part where its near impossible for other countries to invade US borders
Point is relevant as a fact that if we were at war with Russia and Germany at the same time, we'd have little trouble winning due to our immense technological advantage on both offensive and defensive sides.
Having nukes doesn't mean shit. Look at North Korea. They have nukes but not rockets to put them on. So what do they have? Nothing. North Korea is the one threatening the world with nuclear weapons but since you anti-US tards are so busy being stupid, you fail to see the threats in your own backyard. Guess what. North Korea can hit you, not us so when we step in and settle the situation, you out to be thankful considering we aren't even the ones in danger.
Doppel your ignorance of the US is showing. Our "news" is altered and stories are changed and quotes are taken out of context to make stories more appealing. Fox news is a right wing station like no other. Of course being from somewhere else doesn't help your ignorance. There is nothing you can tell me about the United States I don't already know. You know why? Because I have the same internet you do. Of course, you don't have the same newspapers or television stations we do so you really only know the internet half and that's not enough to be running your mouth.
Have you forgotton the trade centers? Remember when a group of muslim extremists with a grudge decided to destroy two buildings full of innocent civilians? Do you? I'm pretty sure we have a lot more to be pissed about than car bombings.
You haven't got a very good grip on the english language.
NK has nuclear warheads. This is a fact. They don't have rockets powerful enough to threaten the US. So as far as I'm concerned they have nothing. Now you on the other hand, they can light up.
I didn't mention invading Iraq but it doesn't matter because you're going to use something I didn't say against me anyways because thats how you roll.
The trade center attack was not an invasion. I specifically said they can't invade our borders. Read things twice.
Read things twice. I don't want to have to break it down for you everytime.

Over throwing out a dictator that murder millions of his own people is a strong point that we did the right thing.
You don't see that cause you let the media decide what you can see. I did 4 years in Afghanastan and 2 years in Iraq. (US Military) There is more going on there then the media lets you see.
What does 1 decission about a president over 60 years ago have to do with this?
You mean like the one that killed my best friend Jake, planted debri in my leg that is still there and killed 16 shiites mostly comprised of woman and children at a outdoor market. (Iraqi car bomb) Its a war. Irrational things are done and happen.
United States has the largest immigration of foreigners in the world. People love the United States because they come here to work. The anit-Bush campaign was started because of his poor speech preparation, spelling and grammar.

Doppel you are a fucking idiot.

Only cause its dropped by American aircraft it doesn’t mean only you helped. There were smaller countries that helped more. If you compare the size of each country and try to see it analogically it looks even worse.

Actually we don’t bother much with the US unless its about whats going on to the world in general (Iraq, politics that affect the EU etc). And I don’t think you’re saying that the news in the US show the positive aspects of life (flowers, happy people, old couples etc). I watch CNN too occasionally.
No, no oil in there and no money to make there since having slaves isn’t possible anymore.

i'd change the last sentence with "...and then telling people i can do with them whatever i want because i can." Thats what i mostly hear.
Other than that a rather good point.

Killing millions by invading the same country cause you want to abuse their oil wells is better? That’s what it was all about. Theres still a war raging in Iraq, and there will still be. Saddam might have been a very cruel dictator but there was some political stability in Iraq. Now none is safe in there.

You should know better than most of the horrors in there. Afghanistan (which if you spent 4 years there at least you should learn to spell correctly) might have had some Al Qaeda camps but the leader wasn’t caught. And wont, hes needed to issue threats and give more reason for invasions. And on the point about the media... countries like my own that are smart enough not to send troops there show the whole thing. Other than the countries that are directly involved. How many times do they show the coffins they bring back home in the news? I dont think they do it that often.

Ever thought what the hell was your job there in the first place? If I was anything in an invaded country I’d retaliate. Better a dictator from my own country than dictators from another country.

I tried to point that out earlier but they didn’t want to get the message. Or a history lesson.
USSR was as strong as the US were back then. And their technologies were much alike (just remember the Cold War). Germany was also pretty advanced. And as a fact, there was a treaty signed between the Soviets and the Nazis not to attack each other, which the Nazis broke and got owned.

will check again tomorrow i guess have fun replying ^^
