I'd like to see the skill points more like Maple Story. Two or three points per level up, skills maxing between 20 and 60 depending on the skill, and the skills would increase in strength less then in D2. (Cant really have a D2 Fireball level 60 legit with level 60 synergies...) Like say you get a fire ball skill, level one does 10 damage, 2 does 12, 3 does 14, etc. Of course, fireball would end up doing about 130 in this instance. And that isn't much in Diablo terms, untill you take into account the synergy system.
As for Clvl, I'd say either 75 or 150. If your going with the 3 skill points per clvl then I'd say go with 150. If you go with classic D1/2 skill styling, I'd say 75.
I say there shouldn't be any limit to increase your character's power and strength.
The more hard work you do, the more powerful you become.
It should be total justice.

And pointless. You do see how overpowered the average lvl95 character is compared to the monsters found in D2 right? Now if you took away the limit to expand your characters strengt, your gonna reach a point where you kill everything as soon as you walk on the screen.
lol you'll be like death from Family Guy and kill everything you touch.
151+ - I would prefer 250 like a lot of private servers in WoW, makes the game so much more fun and new spells all the way to lvl 250 woul be pretty... kickass.

It's an RPG problem, really... too little control given. I personally hate level caps.
I personally think they should stick with 99 being the cap. It's been that way for awhile. Doesn't need to be changed.

Well, you could always have the monsters increase in strength proportional to your level, but certain builds would be way more powerful later on than others, namely those with, say, 6 synergies. You can't max them all in 100 levels, but with 250? Lotsa damage.
It would tak some balancing, some work, some more balancing, and some crazy luck, but you could, theoretically, make it so the monsters kept getting tougher, maybe in one certain place or something, like maybe the last area scales to your level, I dunno.

It happened to my pally. His offensive auras used to kill everything.
Maybe its a bad idea.

I am a big fan of having 151+ but it does mean that there will be a whole bunch of idiots just using bots and such to go and lvl like crazy. So maybe having the cap at 100 is a good idea. And I do like the Idea of having some kind of Uber Skill at 100. It gives you a reason to get there.
Just aslong as they dont have it ending with "9" triple figures are so much more impressive.......
The uber skill idea is the best one i've ever heard. It will bring more excitement to D3. And after seeing all the comments. 100 lvl capacity is the best.

you could have unlimited lvl cap. and as you become a higher lvl the monsters become more difficult. but if you get to a certian lvl your char will start to balance out. if any one know how exponential equations work then thats what i am talking about. and maybe the char sorta ages over time and get slower. so your not going to be unlimited. this idea could possiblly work. or it may not work.
They used something like this in TES IV Oblivion and it did not work all that well. You see, if monsters level with you, what is the point of leveling? The interesting thing about leveling in Diablo II was getting to a higher level - Nightmare or Hell.
well its not fun when your a high lvl and you just obliterate everything in your path. so this was my idea of trying to have the monsters lvl with you so your gameplay is a chalenge.

That is how the level cap functions. It prevents you from becoming too powerful.
The only thing left is PvP. Because playing vs other players - you will always have to level. But apart from that, infinite leveling needs to be compensated, and if it is compensated, there is no point in leveling, so let's limit leveling.

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
