no, bad idea.
(lol when did ravenfrost become rare lol)
theres going to be so much imbalance and monopolizing of items if that were to happen.
and that would creat a bartering system again imo, like 20 shaels for your ravenfrost
id like to see a blend of bartering and use of gp in economy.

Well to answer you part on selling it or droping it. Once you sell it it goes back to the pile, same with dropping it, once you leave the game it goes back.
The problem would be holding the items and driving up the cost but I think its better because then you will have less character clones, less sites that require you to pay to get the item.
Plus it makes the other 85% items dont use worth a crap.

I was justing it as an example
Not really each realm would have a fixed amount meaning lets say There are 5,000 Shakos and only 100 people find them in a day. The closer that number gets to 0 is harder to find. Plus Blizzard would implement a a feature that keeps track of items so the public can view rare and whats not.

I just hated seeing the 85% items not be used
i agree with the 90%+ items such as the legendary azurewrath and shadowfang swords, or whatever they were named in d1 handbook, become completely obsolete, but there has to a better way than to limit it to only 10000 per realm or game. maybe crafted items can have a bigger effect or the drop % is lowered, but it seems like if i play and all the shakos or jah runes are gone, then im getting jipped of something. of course they can make it relative to population, 1 shako per 100 chars or something.

See you just improved my idea *hi5*
I just think it would make mf runs more enjoyable. I mean its this or watching D3 become a copy cat of characters with the best loot.
Imo I think Rares should be better make them better than most items.

I dont like that idea, sorry.
Thats okay its just a idea to help eliminate 60% of Diablo players from wearing the same gear.
I love the idea of having an account stash. This let's you hold on to mass items without the cluttering of mules, and of course, now you can x-fer by yourself without the help of anybody else. Great idea.
As a long time diablo player, i have always hated mules, and having to transfer items from character to character. In most MMO's they have a mailing system, but that would definetly not fit for diablo.
So, i was thinking, while watching UFC of course... Why not have Account Stashes instead of character stashes?
1) it gets rid of the hassle of X-ferring and mules completly
2) It is easy to use, and just as easy to implement
3) It owns for the HC crowd
What do you guys think?
ya i like the idea of one big stash. it would be like a bank. and whoever has the password can access it. which means if ur on ur account you can access it
I think there should be a lot more affixes and for the best rare items to be better than most uniques, or possibly rune words. This would stop clones.
Blizz could also just balance all the classes so they can feasibly use different item builds.
Personally I enjoyed 1.07 and to a lesser extent 1.08/1.09 Diablo 2 as there were not all the uber items and everyone didn't have the best possible items. It was much more fun and less predictable.

---- And the evil that was once vanquished shall rise anew! ----
I think you guys need to realize that duping is the reason that d2 has become an everyone wear the same item fest. I quit D2 because I'm not willing to buy an enigma to keep with PvP.
Each character can have up 1-5 for armors/weapons and 3-20 on runes and gems of the same type. It would vary from item to item or rune to rune or gem to gem.
Now I know what your thinking mules would by pass this but I have another solution. Each item depending on rarity and what not has to be a certain character level to obtain it. So no lvl 1 characters holding shakos, SOJ's, ect.
Make Magic/Rare/Unique items all directly competitive.
Magic should have the greatest range of attributes, but not as many useful ones combined. Like huge +DEX bows, or high damage weapons.
At the very rarest, rares should be marginally better than magics, but only at the very rarest. Otherwise, they should have a lower-range of possible attributes, but more of them. One of the things I missed most was gambling rare rings after the overpowered uniques of LoD came out.
Uniques should have interesting or weird attributes that no other magical or rare items have, hence their name, uniques. I would like to see some uniques possess more -skills or -attributes in return for some huge bonus for a class. For example, some unique could give you huge +% against demons but take away a smaller -% versus the undead. This should be a place for interesting mods found on no other item. Many should be built with specific characters in mind, though not specific builds - for example, I want alot of stuff related to Tal-Rasha, etc. It really helps the player engage in the lore.
Sets should be incredibly powerful once completed, but they should "pigeonhole" you into a build, perhaps a build that isn't as powerful without the set, becomes way more viable with it. In Seven Lances, a Diablo II mod I played, there was a set built specifically for a healer-thorn type druid: not as powerful as you could get with Fury/Maul, but the set helped you become the "archetype" for the class. I'd like some elite-level set pieces to be extremely rare, but changed from Diablo II in the rarest set pieces are often useless, like the IK armor is.

10/10 idea m8
but that mean that the higher lvl char would almost win every duel against the common man, where in d2 it was the richest that won.
this is a hard topic :\

So what do you think now???
Its just per character. Not account. Its really not a big deal. It prevents hoarding and Muling all big problems in D2.
What do you think of having a fixed amount then? Because if they don't change something D3 will be like D2 in terms of economy.
