You don't have to kill Blood Raven, clear the Den, kill Radament, find the jade statue, free the A5 barbarians, or kill the A5 mini-boss with the whip. And those are just off the top of my head.
there should be a sidequest where you have to kill a bunch of lizardman on an island somewhere and go into a volcano where there are lava golems and stuff and so you can get a special artifact that you need to give to someone for a special secrect reward

this is not part of my post, this is a signature, it's not a really big signature for now but maybe some time later it will have cool pictures and more information and stuff on it like from games or some other things i don't know

That sounds very complex and well thought out. (sarcastic)

If I see lizard men in DIII I would personally shoot every representative of Blizzard/Diablo Team, and every member of these forums, excluding myself. Lizard men... Sounds like World of Warshit or something.
Lizardmen are in Warhammer and Dungeons and Dragons, they are actuall quite powerful creatures. If done correctly, they can be quite cool, but like many races and creatures, they also have the potentiality to be absolute shit.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
More side quests, more NPCs. More NPCs, bigger cities and towns and more places to explore. More of that shit and the more complex it gets. Then, the next thing you know, it's an MMORPG. What makes Diablo so fun is that you can pick it up whenever and just play. I'm not saying no to side quests, but something like that would bring the game closer to being an MMORPG, which I honestly don't want.
As stated before, of the 27 quests present in the game, the only ones you have to do are;
Act 1
-Quest 6 only. Rest are optional
Act2
-Quests 2, 3 and 6 on multiplayer, as you can get someone who has already killed the summoner to open the portal to the Canyon of the Magi, thus allowing you to bypass quests 4 and 5.
-Quests 2, 3, 4, and 6 on Single Player. You do not have to kill the Summoner to go to the Canyon, just find the book which is quest 4.
Act 3
-Quests 3, 5 and 6. Rest are optional.
Act 4
-Quest 3 only. Rest are optional.
Act 5
Quests 5 and 6 only. Rest are optional.
Any quest that is optional is a side quest.
So out of 27 you only have to do 10 on multipler and 11 on single player. That isn't even half of them.
And if we were to study Diablo 1 for a minute, the only quests you have to do are Lazarus, Diablo, Ogden's sign (if it is available) and Warlord of Blood if it is available. Due to the nautre of that game quest assignment is random. You will always get Lazarus and Diablo, but the other 14 quests are optional, but you can only do a maximum of 11 quests due to quest pooling.
What do I mean by quest pooling?
The Curse of King Leoric, Poisoned Water Supply Can only do 1 of The Butcher, Gharbad the Weak, Ogden’s Sign Can only do 2 of The Magic Rock, Valor, Halls of the Blind Can only do 2 of Zhar the Mad, The Black Mushroom, Anvil of Fury Can only do 2 of Warlord of Blood, Lachdanan Can only do 1 of
So In regards to quests in Diablo one you will either do a minimum or 2, 3 or 4 quests of a possible 11. THe others are totally up to you.
And yes, while the Chamber of Bone will always appear in your game, you do not have to do it.

Side quests would add more detail and it would make the story alot longer which is always needed.
I agree with that, but not only will it make the game longer it will make the game seem more realistic, and more of a history than a fantasy, just as Tolkien did with LoTR and how he had so many other things going on to make it seem as the events actually happened long ago, which is the feeling I would love to have from a Diablo game, and should have.

I think that in D3 ther should be small towns that you go through in acts and then you can do side-quests there to get bonuses (like skill, stats, and weapons)

I think it would be awesome to have optional quests where you could only get certain items from it, etc. would make the game very interesting. But i think it would only be cool if they implement at least 50-100 it wouldn't really be cool if there were only a couple to do.
definitely, it would enhance the amount of players, and provide endless play time (espescially if they do it like they did D1, how you cant get every quest unless you keep playin the game)

I don't know why someone would say no. The more side quests the more game play.

Probably someone who cares more about PKing, than story and quests. I imagine they would prefer Blizzard stacks D3 with arenas, and other areass for filling their kill lust, rather than making quests, as PKers don't really care about quests.

yeah, I can see why people wouldn't want side quests. Don't want to be like guild wars were sometimes they will just stock pile you with a whole lot of unimportant quests and you usually find yourself just blowing them off. They probably should just make a few quest with really big rewards.
