I very much like the idea of gold being worth a lot more. It should be dropped more often, but should only be like 1-50 gold per monster on Hell.
I do like the idea of a thief character. But to balance that, I would like to see a 5th stat, Awareness. Where if you had a super high awareness, you could catch someone trying to steal from you. "WTF?!?! U think u can steal from a lvl 95 Barb?! I pwn ur A$$ N3WB!!!" Hack him to pieces and then jack all his gold he has aquired from stealing. MWAHAHAHA!!
i said no because i don't even buy anything with it, the most i buy is health potions, but even then i don't buy them because i hire someone who heals. half the time whatever i pick up is what i use.
unless in the new game they finally make gold worth while, i don't ever think gold will be worth anything to me, well except for when i die and lose a good portion of it.
Personally, I would really like to see the Copper>Siver>Gold style that they use in WoW. It works great there. Why not on D2? (Of course you have to make stuff that is worth buying!!!!!!!!!) (Or implement a Auction House-style system...)
After about Act II there is nothing good to do with your money, save gambling. You find better items than the merchants sell, and most of the time you find enough potions to get by.
There needs to be more things you can do with money for it to be of more use.
I miss gambling for Uniques and Set items.
I like the idea of bronze, silver and gold coins, but without something to do with it, you still have the same problem.
Item pricing needs to be altered, and you shouldn't be able to get piles of 25,000 gp from monsters. That's ludacris.

lol ya why would monsters need gold for. but anyway i like the idea of someone saying about auction. have like a little auction place so you can trade stuff with more people. and see better things instead of clicking seperate people for crap items.
If you find gold in smaller piles, and items sell for less save for uniques ans sets, as they are well unique, then gold might be more meaningful, If you actually have to save up to buy a fairly average set of chainmail instead of selling 2 toilet water items, then things might be better.

I think gold is inbetween... you can't really buy good things with it but at the same time you need it to repair items lol if you don't have runes that is.

if gold becomes worth somthin other than repair money repairz need to go down... or even to the point where you can do a quest or a misson for a character to get items repaired

And not just once. You can do the mission over and over. Like a mission where you have to collect 7 Fallen skulls and he will repair your gear or something.
I believe that gold should be more important. But i think that in turn should lead in a revamp of the system. Buyable weapons should be more powerful.

one of the biggest problems in d2 is the lack for need for gold cuz like elfen said, after a2, there really is no point in it nemore. monsters in d3 should only drop say 100 gold so gold it more valueable.

My opinion D2 should have a marketplace with plenty of useful items, and of good potions, so that you could be concerned with money as everything else. Obviously, either the gold amount should be lessened, or gold should be worth less.
Runes, stones, proper potions at lower levels, rejuvs, uniques/rares/ethereals - never saw these in shops. WTF? And please don't tell me Sanctuary is so desolate nobody ever trades anymore, trade works always and in all situations.
Please no barter system. It would piss everyone off just like it did in the Dark Ages.
I prefer commas to the copper>silver>gold thing, but both work.
but idk if you make money worth more than it was in diablo 2 it sort of removes the need to go out and adventure to find those amazing items. At the same time that might also help remove the excessive amount of bots used, because you can get items at stores. However i still think the ultra rare items, and runewords should have to be found and made.
Gold should defintely be worth *MUCH* more than it is in DII. As someone said earlier, have the gold system similar to Runescape. Have monsters seldom drop gold, and when they do, have it very little. And have rewards for quests to be in gold, (Ie. get 500 gold for completeing a specefic quest) etc.
And I completely agree with having the NPC's having better items for sell. Who would want any item that is sold from vendors? Only items I can think of that are worth buying at higher levels are the +3 to _____ skills (____ only) items you can get from Hell difficulty vendors. And even then, to come across vendors that had those were very rare.

So you wouldn't mind paying 416, 532 gold for repairing an AP CoH 5 durability points?
