Whats the problem here, some guy makes a mod and changes how the game works, so what? Last time I checked you had to also have that mod for it to affect your game. Don't want that mod, don't download it.
Least that's how it works with every game I play, Warcraft II, Warcraft III, Baldur's Gate II, Neverwinter Nights.
Ye, I want to see how Blizzard handles modding, and how they'll implement in on B.Net (if they do plan to do so).
In WoW, there are websites that allow users to download "Blizzard approved addons". Maybe in Diablo 3, there will be websites that allow users to download "Blizzard approved mods".
They probably won't allow mods in general on closed b.net, much like they already do.
But I am fully in support of user-created content that goes over and above what Blizzard may have thought of. As well, with a fully moddable game, and supported from the get-go, we would be allowed to change the "ugly graphics" to whatever we would like, and it would shut up us "whiners" that think the game is too colorful and such, or that the models and textures are too cartoony. With mod support, these things can be solved for us on our own ends, for our own enjoyment.
Without support, it will take a while to do, but it will be done, like Diablo II was, and I don't see those mods hurting DII at all.
"Q: Will there be a map editor?
A: We haven't nailed specifics but the Diablo series isn't very friendly to mods, mostly due to the random nature of the game. It's not a big focus of ours. But we haven't decided."
Hey are you sure that was said? Can you post the link, I don't remeber reading that on any of the Q/A 's ... I remeber reading something along those lines but it wasn't as detailed ... I just remeber reading "It would be hard due to the random nature of the game"
Where do you need Mods when the game itself will be kickass.
...Because I don't like the look of where the game is heading, and hopefully at least my version will be different then? Why else would anyone want to change something?
I understand mods like D2Loader would be nice also for D3.
No more disc!
D2Loader is a mod...and has nothing to do with hacking.
Now....pertaining to exploiting, some mods were created such as RedVex that could Exploit, but never hack.
Hacking is impossible, because your running only a cleint version, and your checked for hacks by a scanner that is server side.
Sorta like Punkbuster.

no support for modding because they want you to play online and not single player as it will benefit the community more this way. They could however add some addon that will allow modding to be played in multiplayer but people will quit multiplayer and play single player even if that was added. Thats what I think. Their main aim is everyone playing online, so even people who play pirated copies will buy the game just to be among the online community
If u think about d2 graphics are terrible lol. you cant eve see your characters face with out putting ur face 1 inch away from the screen. D3 looks amazing tho. Hope theres no world editor for it. Like that jamella crap.

well I hope it doesn't support it so you don't even have to buy it and save some money.
Good, After seeing the cheat mods, defiler, item duplicators, drop mods, ect. ruin the online portion of the game Titan Quest, I'm glad there is no Modding period.

i think you might have a misunderstanding on what mods are...

Modding tools to create new classes, areas to explore, items, functions that players want added to the game, the LIST GOES ON AND ON....and then there is the bad side of Modding to exploit. I'm talking about Modding, what are you talking about ?

and if you gaze into the abyss
the abyss gazes into you.
Now, if they can play a mod, they will, and then after that mod maybe they'll play some more multiplayer.
The whole argument of the game being fun enough or whatever is bogus. There is no game out there that you can play forever...
Thats funny, becaus a lot of peeps still play D2, which is now 8 1/2 years old.
Which seems like forever...
I cant imagine how high the 'Replay' effect will be with D3.
My geuss is that it will be better than D2, well at least I hope so.
But I agree with you, mods do make the game more playable in the future.
But mods should not be worried about until after the first year or two of D3.
Cheers m8

That said, I can see nothing bad from modding support, and only good. Hopefully for the good of the community, they include modding tools.
