I've played WoW and it was good until the expansion.
What? I'm not saying everybody that played WC3 is now on WoW, I'm saying they used the story lines and spells and all that.
So D3 becomes another HNS and make hell mode a joke, right?
Yes, lets make D3 another replica of D2, man you are stupid, you honestly think D3 wil lbe the same as D2? Of course they are going to upgrade it, they are making SC2 and it looks way better than the original SC
I too get irked when I see people say they won't play D3 if you have to pay to play online.
When you think about it, it really isn't that much money when it comes down to it. Anyone who can afford a computer that can play 3D games, and an internet connection can spare money for a sub. fee for a game they claim to be a fan of.
But I guess it won't matter, because the amount of people that don't play simply because it's P2P will be far overshadowed by the people that WILL play.
I don't think we'll have to worry about D3 being P2P, because they want people to still play WoW, and a lot of people will be turned off by the thought of two fees every month. However, if it is, and you do claim to be a big Diablo fan (let's face it, you wouldn't be on a fan site if you weren't a big fan) then you need to put up or shut up.
Besides, IMO, even if it WAS P2P, it'd be probably $5 a month ($60/year), maybe $10 ($120/year). They wouldn't need nearly the cash flow for this game than WoW, because it (most likely) it going to be a completely different genre (that is, an online action rpg, rather than an mmorpg).

But often the computer and internet connection are already stretching it as far as it can go. There are different types of internet connections too - some more expensive than others. People choose the lesser expensive ones because they can't quite afford the more expensive, even if it is only $10 extra per month. It all adds up. But yes, if they really like diablo, they will force themselves to pay for it - which is what I will do.
Then there's also the psychological issue of having a time limit. I hate time limits.

There are other business models that Blizz could consider for P2P MMO...
I suggested this model to my friend who was an avid WoW player (noticed the word "was") that instead of paying on a per month basis, why not pay for 60 hours (or whatever x number of hours) of play?
Whenever you login to play, the time starts counting down until you used up the x number of hours and would have to get a new card. Kind of like those pay-as-you-use mobile phones. But he replied to me a very simple answer: If they do this, then getting people into the game to do 30 man raids would be tiresome since everyone would play only whenever they feel like it without the urgency.
And immediately I saw what he was getting at and it made sense. That is in fact, one of the main reasons I've stayed away from MMO generally. Not because I could not afford it but because I do not want a game that I own to end up owning me.
i do think they'll make it just as the previous ones. But i cant deny the fact that i'll pay anyway no matter what they ask for it
If they offer the same safety from hacks, lag free environment (most of the time) and the content patches in they had in WoW, i'll even be happy to pay!
With the amount of money they have made from WoW and the obvious popularity of the Diablo series, it would be stupid for Blizzard (A business) to keep the game free. The only problem I see with this is the amount of time one would pay to go around acquiring more gear. Sure, it was fun in DII to just do run after run for items but would you have really paid for such an experience? Once you are done with the game, what do you do? I'm sure this is something Blizzard has asked itself and will likely bring some some sort of gameplay to combat the issue.
I voted no because if it was pay to play it would be an mmo not the rpg that diablo is. It would be a totally different game. I wouldnt even call it diablo.
I would only pay for it if they changed it to a mmo... which I would hope they wouldn't. I don't want to pay for a game thats going to stay exactly the same.
But its already been stated that there will be a single player mode so I highly doubt it will be a P2P mmo.
