Are there any plans on implimenting leaderboards for people who only play solo?
Group play gives an advantage in many ways after which group players simply get into a solo GR and top the leaderboard. I would love to see an option appear at the player creation screen for "Solo Only" mode as such the Hardcore option is there and when selected the character simply isnt allowed to group up and does not have the options available for public play.
I guess I am just curious to see if there is any want by the community for this option.
There's lots of people in the community that prefer solo play, and lots of people see solo leaderboards as the most important one (I sometimes feel like I'm the only one who thinks that group play is more impressive, more diverse, and reserves more recognition than being a lone warrior, no matter how awesome you are - but that's just me).
Blizzard, on the other hand, does not want to promote any more solo play. They know that the game is promoting group play and they want to keep it that way - although they admit that right now it might be a bit too much in favor of group play and they might address this one way or another in future patches. However, Blizzard made it pretty clear that group play should always be of and advantage to players, simply to avoid a situation in which you tell your friend "nah I don't want to group up now".
TL;DR: The community might want this and has asked for this over and over again, but there's no chance for it happening any time soon.
I think this is a great idea and would advocate it! No need to change the current game meta - just as a purely solo option for those who want it. As a casual player, I prefer group play with friends. However, I can see how some players would enjoy pure solo, and a leaderboard to reflect their achievements.
I think this would be an awesome idea. I'm more of a solo player myself.

If they implant a leaderboard for solo player only then they need to do the same thing for 2 players only and 3 players only cause a 4 players team will always have an avantage over others . I think leaderboard is not for casual player (im a casual player) and as a casual player your goal is only to beat yourself. What it change for me to be on leaderboard? NOTHING! if my best Solo GR is 49 i just whant to do better and if i complete a GR50 ill be verry happy even if im not on leaderboard. But well, its maybe only me?
I'm a solo player again, my friends stopped playing Season 4 already and i'm taking a break... yay.
As Bagstone said, Diablo 3 is basically a forced Co-op game at the moment, and if you are going solo all the time you will exp slower, drop less and you won't be able to level up your legendary gems as high as you can.
Just deal with it and play a gimped experience as a purist solo player or jump into group play and enjoy the game more.

A real solo environment is what Diablo 3 really miss in my opinion.
Blizzard is focusing on promoting the social-aspects too much.
They have a goal that regardless of how well geared you are, bringing in a poorly geared friend should always make the game better for you.
This is why mobs hardly scale (25%) when bringing in another player.
But seriously how long would it really take to get that poorly geared friend up to par?
The lack of scaling just makes multiplayer easier, not better. Easier is not the same as better.
I've ran 2 grifts in a group (upto 35 iirc), but I've had fun pushing upto gr60 for the achie solo.
The achie is quite easier in multiplayer and not better by any means as an example.
Why would blizzard ever want to allow the creation of characters that arn't allowed to group up. That totally goes against the spirit of the game.
When I want to play with friends, I shoudn't feel hold back for ANY reason, blizzard will never introduce a reason for me to feel that way.
I vote for.
This game is mostly focused on multi atm: more loot, more exp, easier to survive and easier to gear as you can ignore mostdefensive skills / passive.
Too many are carried to high GR and I wish a Solo mode / leaderboard would be implemented in seasons.
