Note: I mean isometric whenever I say 3rd person (sorry about the lack of clarity)
The fixed 3rd person camera (isometric camera, thx invincible) worked great with 2d sprite animations, but with so much effort going into artwork in the game, will this restrict the ability of the player to appreciate the graphics?

Why can't a heterosexual guy tell a heterosexual guy that he thinks his booty is fly?
If you're refering to making the game first person, asbsolutely not.
@InvincibleEMP: It's both 3rd person and isometric. 3rd person just means that you're looking at the game from someone (or an angle) other than the characters being played.

ya sorry about not being as specific. i mean the fact that it is isometric, not just 3rd person. I'm not implying that it should be 1st person, just asking whether it should be changed from its current state.

3rd person is implied with isometric. its not like there is a way to have 1st person isometric. by just saying 3rd person you're basically implying that the camera is free moving.
ya, ive tried to correct that. you are right. and if you guys dont mind, I'd like to hear some discussion as to why/why not the camera should remain as is

Yes, isometric is a third-person perspective, while a third-person perspective is not necessarily isometric. All crows are birds but not all birds are crows.
Anyway, no, the graphics would have to be much better for first-person or over-the-shoulder third-person to be tolerable.

O.K. I really didn't expect such a landslide here. Let me give you an example of a camera I'd like to see....
God of War had a camera that I think would work well with D3. It is far enough away to make the textures look resolute, but close enough and mobile enough for the player to get the whole atmosphere.

alright. I'm not saying that we should go back and change diablo 2's camera. This is a work in progress and will have many changes and improvements over its predecessors. I understand keeping certain things to maintain the franchises' feel, and if this turns out to be one of those things, so be it, but there's no reason to turn away a plossible idea that could benefit the game.

i disagree. with 3d textures the camera could change while everything that is alrdy viewable with the camera will be seen, plus all the other stuff that is cut because of the fixed cam

Do not change the camera angle.

Plus i don't want to have to fiddle with the fu**in camera while killing everything
I completely fail to see how a first person camera can be isometric.
