I know this is a sarcastic post by OP. A few years or even months ago I probably would've probably closed this thread because of no constructive criticism. However, the situation is extremely depressing. Paragon power creep (not related to botting, to make this absolutely clear) in combination with rampant botting for various purposes is omnipresent in many top clans and makes it almost impossible to achieve high leaderboard rankings for "legitimate players".
Many people, including me, created various posts on the official forums or tried to get Blizzard to act in many ways. While in season one and two those issues might have been present, they were not dominating the leaderboards at all. This season botting might not be the main issue yet, though various forms of cheating are part of the competition (highlighted by the fact that almost all streamers have gone offline recently, yet the rankings explode with mid/high 70s clears). Getting on the 4 player top 100 leaderboards was something we achieved regularly in the first few eras, this era you need a one in a million rift, in era 4 this might extend to the top 500 or the even the entire top 1000 of the leaderboards. Yeah, of course, that only affects 1000 people which means it's a ridiculously small percentage of the D3 population.
And that's kind of the problem: Those threads are getting downvoted to oblivion, the issues are being neglected as if they don't affect anyone (of the majority) in the long run. I think they will (similar to the negative impact of the AH on everyone in D3V). Either way, we already saw quite a few victims of this (many people quit the game, Jaetch is a prominent example of someone who at least quit the MVP program and all mod duties, not sure if he'll continue to play as "casual", and I could name many many famous streamers). If this doesn't change, the once thriving and highly motivating competitive scene in D3 will be dead. No reason left for me to play anymore.
Pff, i remember being mocked when i expressed my feelings against exploiters during the Blood Shard bug because it effected leaderboards and if players are downvoting concerns about botting on official forums... well, there isn't much hope in the community.
I'm sorry to hear Jaetch isn't a MVP anymore and i have no idea if he is playing or not anymore, but these rampant cheaters affected his enjoyment in this game and his competition and Bagstone is suffering the same, but if it doesn't affect me, i shouldn't care, right?
Well, Bagstone, if Blizzard doesn't act actively on banning botters and cheaters, i think you are out of luck and probably at the moment you are feeling like a retard playing legit and trying to climb the leaderboard for your fun while players are gaining power by just botting and gaining exp when not even in front of their monitor.
While I do understand where your coming from Bagstone, these forums aren't the place for such posts. If it was constructive and fostered intelligent, thoughtful conversation it would be different.
The honest truth is that these kind of posts rarely do anything to advance the issue.

I must strongly agree on the OP...There should be a 3 strike warning for botters, exploiters, etc....1. 2 week ban 2. 1 month ban 3. perm ban. removing them from leaderboards isn't doing jack sh*t if they can just clear it again because they have botted to 1000-1200 in season and found all their ancient gear while they were away...I also must say sometimes it's not very hard to spot a bot, because every once in a while theyr'e character will lock up or they simply don't talk or unable to join teamspeak or something. If something is gonna get done it has to some sort of mass setup formed by blizzard as some sort of trap and fully rid this game of bots. I would never use any kinda third party software connected to diablo because you have no idea what could be attached to the files either.

ya...i mean i agree...i have never used a bot...but i'm sure maybe some new players get curious or something...which is why I said 3 strike warning....blizzard wont implement anything like this anyway....well i am glad they're finally getting good content together, I hardly think they play the game as much as we do..(pretty casual myself maybe 4 hours per day, low 60s gems rifts etc)..Just today I seen one suspect able bot wiz....claiming dc in speed 45...as I said before its not very hard to spot. Blizzard rep could add them as a friend on list and keep an eye on their patterns...
This is the discussion about Gabynator cheating. It was originally posted in General forum. Then Gaby's post, where he admitted cheating, was deleted and the thread was moved into "Streaming and Gameplay". Out of sight for people who never go there. Security by obscurity... Not a single blue post on the matter. In no thread about bots and cheats. Blizzard has lost any credibility in regard of their own ToS/EULA and enforcing fair play.
So blizzard supports top streamers who bot for game publicity is what youre saying? Effectively trolling any and all legit players...*smh*

Turbohud annoys me even more than botting tbh. Gives an edge to the actual performance of clearing that Top 10 GRift. I know botting does that too indirectly, but I still feel like TurboHud is really what makes it unfair. These guys know the pylons, the elite affixes, the dead ends, all in advance vs a legit player. That is REALLY unfair.
But yeah they don't do anything. I had a so called "friend" on my friend list that literally told me he was botting in the battle.net chat! like he whispered it to me, many times, we had many discussions over it and I kept telling him how botting is bad for the game. I emailed hacks@blizzard.com (WHY NO REPORT BUTTON IN GAME?!) many times telling them to check the chat logs, to check that he was online 24 hours a day doing the same game creation/leaving pattern in always the same areas. The guy had a bot opening chests naked. I mean it's so obvious.
yup. And if any ban hammer comes down it wont likely be anyone in SOS, ZE, gabby, alkiezer etc. Because they bring in revenue...Im not defending mannercookie but to ban one streamer who abuse an exploit and not the rest is just retarded. And when we want answers in tavern talk every answer which needs a complex answer will either be ignored or "were looking into it" With some sort of creepy stare from the devs...I'm not saying I have completed a 70 byfar(62 and near miss 65 have been my best clears) but at least make the game fair for people who dont bot for rift f, bot the rifts, and actually have to take time out of theyre pushing/speed 40 runs to do this..Removing trials and making rifts free will solve some of this but if nothing is done in the next patch 99% of the community is going to start using turbohud/rosbot. Oh well at least gabby and alkeizer admit to using it. *smh*

paragon should have a cap at 1000 maybe or maybe higher, bots regardless of your notoriety should not be accepted, Sorry for the repost, but the fact that gabby and ze make fun of anyone who doesn't exploit the game is sickening, and this epidemic needs to be stopped. They freely admit it on forums and blizz removes it from the front page of forum? That shows that they support it and are not gonna do anything about it, but I think enough people are complaining something might...get done.

So many people bot it is depressing. Please do something about it next season or just create bot leader boards.
NO.....

Certain clans are infested with botters. The "Dragon" clan, about half of them bot. It's pretty sad.

what? it should be perma ban for the first time.
I thought that's what the regular leaderboards were
